Thank you for the accurate and descriptive review of the property. The cabin is heated by electric base-boards and the floor is not heated. When temps dip below zero, you will definitely want to be wearing a sweater and slippers while in the cabin. I agree that the cabin is a snowmobilers paradise:)

Oh boy. There are some people that just don't get it and SHOULD. NOT. RENT. THIS. PROPERTY. Just in case this needs clarification...Primitive = NO RUNNING WATER. I am not trying to hide this fact. The cabin has an outhouse only (we did add new venting this summer, so the smell should be reduced). There is no running water in or to the cabin. In the summer months, there is water pulled from the lake via a pump. It is hooked to a solar shower on the deck and to a hose. You can use the water to hose down, wash your dishes outside, etc. We guarantee the pump's availability June 1 through Labor Day. Otherwise, water availability is weather dependent. We recommend 4-wheel drive to access the property at any time of the year. In the winter time and after a heavy rain, we do not advise any vehicle travel down the last portion of the hill. Winter travelers should expect to walk/sled/snowmobile about 2 football field length's to get into the property. We had received a really heavy snow prior to the guests arrival. I made a special point to tell the guest to NOT drive down the hill...but they did. And they got really stuck. There is not a heavy-duty wrecker service for over 60 miles. The guys that showed up out of White Earth have a light-duty tow service. Out of the goodness of their hearts, they helped the guests shovel their way out up the hill. You will probably not enjoy winter rental at this property without a snowmobile, 4 wheeler with tracks or at the very minimum snow shoes or cross-country skis. This is not like a state park where you are in nature, but with paved paths and a park ranger within shouting distance. You are a 1/4 of a mile in the woods. This property is some people's dream place and other people's worst nightmare. So, book this property because you have experience roughing it. Book this property if you have some survival skills and know you like solitude in the woods. Book this property because you like to get in a kayak and paddle around a quiet, clean lake. Book it because you'd rather read a book than watch TV. Book it because you have ATV's or snow equipment and want access to the 500 miles of trails in the area. Book it if you want to walk into the woods with a compass and identify native plant life. But please, for the love of Snicker-doodle-cookies, don't book this property just because it's the cheapest one you found on this website and then be mad about the amenities (or lack there-of in some people's opinion). The property is priced the way it is because of some of its more rustic features. It is a primitive property set way, way into the woods. And that comes with advantages and disadvantages. Those that are prepared and know what to expect will have a great time. Those that have never been in the woods and are booking the cabin solely based on price-point will probably be scared to death.
