Absolutely fantastic, we had a lovely time 😄Bob & Nic were so kind - not only leaving scones / jam / cream / cider, but had a chat with us about the local area Very handy location for the beach and cafe we’d definitely return :)

Excellent and welcoming stay

We had a fantastic four night stay at the Summerhouse at the start of the October 2022 half term. From the outset and throughout, the communication from the hosts, Nicola and Bob was excellent. The Summerhouse is a cosy, warm, well equipped lodge in a brilliant location in walking distance of Widemouth Bay, if you are looking for a place to walk, swim or get in the surf it's perfect. Downstairs the kitchen and lounge area are roomy and welcoming, with lots of thoughtful touches such as games, dvd, WiFi, milk, coffee, tea and scones. The downstairs bathroom has a great shower and the eco friendly toiletries were lovely. Upstairs the bedrooms are a quirky V shape and are well equipped and comfortable. Outside patio space is good and is set up for surfers and beach goers with taps, spare gear and hangers. We took advantage of borrowing the classic vintage wooden body boards which were brilliant fun, although we actually enjoyed using them most at the slightly less lively waves at Bude, which is just a 10 min drive away. The hosts recommend the nearby BeachHouse restaurant which is in walking distance - great food and welcome. The hosts are completely transparent about the building work going on next door at the moment and unfortunately it is quite intrusive being right by the Summerhouse. If you are people who like to get up and out early before 8am then it won't bother you too much but if you want a lie in, then it's not great. Very frustrating for the hosts I'm sure and hopefully it will get finished soon. The hosts were extremely flexible and let us check out later which was appreciated. Recommended as a brilliant base to visit North Cornwall, and particularly recommended for those who want to get into the sea.

Christmas in Widemouth Bay

we had a fantastic Christmas at Widemouth Bay, the property had everything needed & more, the location was superb, on Christmas morning we walked the 5 mins to the beach & watched all of the Christmas morning swimmers, great sight to see, our son lives 2 mins walk from the property so was an ideal location for us to spend Christmas with our grandchildren, now we have found this property we shall return. thank you

Lovely stay in Widemouth Bay

The property was beautifully laid out and furnished making use of all the spaces and being completely self-conrained. We were met by the owner on arrival and everything was explained. The scones, clotted cream and jam were especially welcome and very tasty - a lovely touch! We struggled a little bit with the low sloping ceiling in the bedroom but we knew about that before we booked. All the amenities were provided and thoughtfully done including books, games and DAD'S if you wanted them plus use of wetsuits which was a great extra that was provided. Altogether, a lovely property which was perfect for the two of us.

Gorgeous beach house

This was a perfect spot to head to the beach everyday. It's about a 5 min walk to the beach cafe (one of my favourites in Cornwall as it just feels like you are still on the beach), and a few mins walk to the sand dunes higher up the beach. The outside patio in the house is a perfect private area to take off wet suits and shower outside before going inside de-sanded. Also lovely to sit out there when the sun is shining (twice in one week for us only...). There are bi-fold doors to the patio to make the whole place seem bigger (when it's not raining, which wasn't too much of the time we were there!!). The place had everything we needed for a lovely stay, including some good quick puzzles, an x-box and a good range of books - kids and adults happy :) The upstairs has very low ceilings (eaves) so just be aware of this if you like your space. There is also only a toilet downstairs (clearly written on the website and didn't bother us).

Fantastic location

The Summerhouse is ideally placed to walk to Widemouth/Black Rock beach. Nic and Bob were brilliant hosts. Nothing was too much trouble. The Summerhouse was stocked with everything you need, including spare wetsuits, toys for children, books and a BBQ. The head height in the bedrooms was a bit of a struggle as the 3 of us are quite tall but it didn’t really distract from the holiday. The only thing we were missing was a clock downstairs but apart from that, we loved every minute of it. Would definitely stay again.

Wonderful holiday

Just returned from a wonderful stay at the beach house, even though weather wasn't the best. Well equipped with lots of little extra's including a welcome cream tea- covid compliant, and hosts were excellent. Wonderful beach for body boarding & surfing, and quiet peaceful location, to relax & recharge. We will return.

Great place in a perfect location

Lovely homely place with all the necessary amenities with extras such as wetsuits, body boards, buckets and spades, children’s toys and books. Our 2 year old was very happy! Clean and well kept property, easy to find and a place to park the car off road. Bob and Nic were great, replied to questions and queries promptly. 5 minute walk to the beach from property, great for a quick nip to the beach for a surf or splash around in the sea. Thank you 😊

Christmas 2019

Booked the summerhouse for a few relaxing days between Christmas and New Year. The accommodation is lovely and cosy with a great location 2 minutes walk from the Beach. Nice and Bob were really helpful even answering one on my queries on Christmas Eve! Some lovely places to eat within walking distance, we recommend the Black Rock Cafe for breakfast and Elements for an evening meal. Would definitely stay here again if we venture into Cornwall.

Lovely place and thoughtful hosts

Really comfortable and thoughtfully put together holiday apartment. Amazing location for the most beautiful beach - on foot or a short drive to others to pick up the coastal path from Crackington Haven. Fish and scallops off the boat fresh or a cinema treat when the rain rained. Is there more to say?

Perfect surfing break

Had a great few days in this lovely little place. Great facilities including stuff for kids. Communication from the owners was great, and they were really helpful and friendly. Lovely that supplies (milk, cream tea, tea coffee, sugar, orange juice) were there when we arrived. Kitchen brilliantly equipped. Will definitely be returning.

Fantastic

We had a lovely week in the summerhouse with our nearly 2 yr old daughter. The house is well equipped and has some cool things included. The scones on arrival were amazing and the automatic nightlights when walking down the stairs was brilliant. Location is excellent with a several hundred yard walk to the beach. The only thing is you have to walk along the road which in the summer could be a bit busy so you have to be careful. There was some machines working on knocking down a house across the road from the property so the reversing beepers got a bit annoying from 8 am til about 5. We were out most days anyway so it wasn’t too bad. Lots of things to see and do in the area and in bude. I recommend the sausage and egg bap from black rock cafe which was prob the best one I’ve ever had. Def worth staying in the lovely house. Thank you again to Nic & Bob for introducing your selves and the prompt refund. D, T & L :)

Ideal holiday location!

Great property with everything you need to make the stay comfortable. Ideal for a fantastic beach holiday and central to get away and explore. Local bars and restaurants are a short walk away and have a good variety. Wetsuits available for all sizes and bodyboards at the house too! The rooms are very comfortable and even with two of the four of us over 6’, there was not an issue with the roof! A cupboard full of games for the nights in and a very generous helping of scones, cream and jam on arrival. Overall, a superb holiday home and somewhere I would consider returning to. Very helpful owners on hand for any issue (power cut!)!

As a family we are fortunate enough to live and work in this beautiful part of the country, and take full advantage of all it has to offer. Whether it be surfing, shopping, cycling, walking the coastal path or crab lining in Bude there is always something to keep the family happy. We have lived in the village since 2006 and have been welcomed into the very friendly local community and envisage staying here forever.
In 2012 we decided to build the Summerhouse so that we could share this beautiful village with others. The Summerhouse shares a drive with our family home Elanora so we're always on hand if you need us.

We fell in love with Widemouth Bay whilst on holiday in the late 1990s and it took until 2006 to realise our dream of moving here to raise our family.
The Summerhouse allows us to spend as much time as we can in the village we love.
