We've stayed in a lot of VRBOs across the Hawaiian Islands, and this gem of a property is at the TOP of our list. A private entrance on a quiet street that is close to the beach, supermarkets and road access to other parts of the island are just a few of the highlights of this property.
The real magic is Kulia, the owner, whose home welcomed us with cleanliness that made us feel respected right from the start. Fresh linens, fresh towels, a shining kitchen, and bathrooms that are showroom ready - this is hands down the cleanest place we have ever rented. On top of that, any question we had or anything we needed, Kulia responded within minutes to help us out. She is clearly an owner who cares, and who also understands the need for privacy as she did not reach out or interfere unless we reached out first, which showed total respect for our need to unplug and relax.
If you are looking for a sandy beach that stretches on for miles and allows you to meander in your thoughts, take an early morning run or watch the sunrise come up over the ocean, then Kailua is a perfect choice. For anyone who likes to run, there is a 5.76-mile loop from this VRBO, to the beach, and then right on the bike trail and up and over a small hill and back that offers traffic free running and spectacular views. Starbucks? Restaurants? Target? Grocery shopping? Everything is within walking distance, and there are some great food choices for Vegans (Nalu Health Bar & Cafe, Whole Foods and Lovin' Oven).
In a world where everything is promised to get consumers in the door, and then the disappointment is revealed - this VRBO is the complete opposite. Understated at the outset, this property will continue to delight and surprise you.
This property is a shining example of why we will never stay in a hotel room again. Thank you Kulia for a fantastic "home away from home" experience. We will be back!
