While sailing on the Mediterranean, we had a storm and sheltered in the port of Cecina. During our stay of four windy days we make a round trip and arrived in the village of Montecatini val di Cecina and fell in love with this part of Tuscany.
Summer 2000 we bought the ruin, looking for good craftsmen, authentic materials and after that, building has lasted six years. After construction was finished, we have given our company in the Netherlands to our staff and we are left to our paradise and now we welcome our guests.

Surrounding of the country house VOLTERRA is a beautiful walled medieval and Etruscan city. The city is mostly pedestrianized, which is fantastic for walking and sightseeing. The countryside north of Volterra , with the city of SAN GIMIGNANO, is breathtaking with many medieval villages perched on wooded hillsides. There are many beautiful palazzos, spas and vineyards to visit in the area. Also the beaches are all within a short distance ( 35 km ). In the summer there are many musical events: Puccini opera at Torre del Lago, whilst in Lucca, during July, several of the world’s best musicians play in the amphitheater. There are also several jazz festivals. There are many superb restaurants within 15 mins of the house. Fungi and truffles are some of the local specialities, olive oil and white and red wines from this aria are one of the best in the world.

About the country house ' Fonte Migliari ' : 3 terraces, pool and garden The property is superb for outdoor living as it enjoys sunshine from dawn to dusk. The gardens provide perfect areas for relaxation and for children to play. The property is surrounded by 3 terraces. A pergola of climbing roses and the gazebo provides dappled shade. There are views through the olive trees into the valley. The large terra-cotta tiled south terrace near the swimming pool, that is filled with our own natural well is a sun worshippers' dream. All terraces have fabulous views across the vineyards and valley. Country house Fonte Migliari has appeared in the TV program 'A House in Tuscany' and in several magazines.
