We initially rented this unit (for one night) because it was one of the only VRBO choices with kitchen in the area near Death Valley, on our route during a month long road trip. We had not previously heard of Shoshone.
The unit itself is a cabin in an RV park. The cabin is somewhat rustic (think old school cabin). What made this place five stars is the immediate surroundings. After driving through desert in July, we were shocked at how green Shoshone (population 31) is. Shoshone is a small oasis, wetland area formed by water coming down out of the hills. The RV park itself is very green, more green than many RV parks where we live in the rainy Pacific Northwest. The grounds include a warm swimming pool, filled with natural hot springs water. Next door are small trails with natural ponds, many birds, and endangered pupfish. Across the street, some additional, more lengthy trails have been created (overgrown when we were there), that allow you to explore the desert and wetland environment. The town includes a historic diner that had very good food.
