Top notch experience

My family recently stayed at Earl's mountain get-a-way and have nothing but great things to say about the house and the area. There were plenty of great family activities to do like gem mining, rock climbing, and great little towns to visit. The house we stayed at was also perfect for just relaxing and staring out at God's artwork from a wrap around patio. It was an awesome retreat and Earl was a pleasure to work with.

Absolutely first rate!

This property is absolutely as promised and then some. But, the special sauce is the generous and communicative owner, Earl. He is very proactive and clearly cares about the home and his guest experience. Excellent!

Simply AMAZING!!

Everything about this place is amazing! When you park and step out of your vehicle you will be amazed by the wonderful views! There are not enough words to describe this beautiful house...a luxurious chef’s kitchen with incredible appliances and every cooking utensil etc you could desire. The bedding and towels are wonderful too! The porch furniture is so comfortable and we enjoyed having coffee in the morning sitting in the gliders looking out over the mountains.The owners are wonderful with their communication and have the house stocked better than any rental I have ever stayed in! Location wise it is fantastic...you feel a world away yet are only 10-15 minutes from historic downtown Franklin. We love to fly fish and hike and found so many nearby places to do so. This is a great base location if you also want to explore various places such as Bryson City/Cherokee, Highlands, Nantahala area, etc. You can’t go wrong with this place....we hope to be back soon!

A relaxing week in the mountains!

Great house! We had a wonderful, relaxing time. Driveway no problem since we have a 4 wheel drive truck. Wrap around porch was so nice to sit outside and have a glass of wine in the evening and coffee in the morning and look out at the mountains. Downstairs was perfect for our 22 year old daughter and her boyfriend. Kitchen was great! We only ate out twice the entire week. The only thing I have negative (which really isn't negative) is that the porch needs to be pressure washed. Lots of spiders, and dirt. Hoping we can come back to the house in the fall or next spring! Thank you for a fabulous vacation.

Great Views and Home!

This is a beautiful home, and we were very comfortable. The mountain views and large deck are spectacular! The owner provided helpful tips and directions prior to the stay, and it was much appreciated and helpful. We would highly recommend, and we hope to visit again.

Mountain get-away

The house is newer and beautiful. It is extremely well designed and very functional for a party looking for three bedrooms with separate bathrooms. There is a huge outside porch/deck with incredible views of the mountains. The kitchen is very modern and new with gas stove/oven. The family room is large with a fireplace with gas starter. The house has lots of windows for light and views. All the furnishings were very nice including all the bedroom and bathroom linens/towels. We enjoyed our stay very much. I would recommend a 4-wheel drive to access the driveway if your trip will be during snow season. We had an SUV without 4-wheel drive and were able to access during good weather conditions.

Restful Perfection

Beautiful views and great location for day trips! We appreciated the many amenities of the house but didn't see the bear. The house is simply lovely and well appointed. One would be wise to heed warning about driveway! We enjoyed our time here and Thank you for sharing!

Very peaceful setting with amazing views!

We stayed at this property to get away from the heat and humidity of Florida in September. It was the perfect location for our needs. One cannot see or hear any other houses and the views are truly as great as the photos indicate. Such a relaxing place to unwind and read a book in front of the fire. Franklin is the closest town and we visited multiple times to shop or visit The Lazy Hiker brewpub. Highlands is also not too far (<1hr) and a neat drive with waterfall stops along the way (Dry Falls was our favorite). One day we hiked the Appalachian Trail to Wesser Bald fire tower. About an hour drive and an hour hike to amazing 360 degree views. There are so many things to do in the area. The house itself was very well equipped. We like to cook big meals and enjoyed the high-quality appliances, cookware and utensils that many places we have rented do not have. Lastly, Earl was very good to deal with. Everything was as he said it would be. A very relaxing week was had by all.

Phenomenal North Carolina Mountain Home

The home was phenomenal! Clean, well-stocked, spacious, peaceful, quiet, well off the beaten track. The best part was the wrap-around deck with amazing mountain views - we spent most of our time - day and night - relaxing there. Kitchen was very well-equipped with high-end appliances, making it very enjoyable to cook. Earl was very proactive, calling us beforehand to make sure we were comfortable getting there. Thank you for sharing your amazing home!

Amazing house and views

I agree with all the positive reviews about this property. The house was beautiful, comfortable and extremely clean, which was comforting during the pandemic. It was well equipped with everything we needed to cook almost all our meals. The location is great too. Within a short drive we were able to hike, white-water raft and kayak. I've rented many vacation homes but this by far was the best.

Beyond Expectations!

The trip up the mountain is not for the faint of heart and you definitely need a 4 wheel drive or an AWD vehicle. That said the property is beautiful. The views from the porch are so amazing, you can spend your whole day just sipping a drink and catching up on your reading. The porch is covered so even on the rainy day we could hang out on the porch. The kitchen was well stocked and had everything you would need. The furniture/seating in the great room was plentiful. We loved our getaway to the mountains and we would definitely rent here again. Earl was very helpful and called us before our stay to make sure we understood the steepness of the climb up the driveway so we were prepared. He forwarded directions as GPS is not very reliable on some of the mountain roads. We had no idea how helpful that was until we arrived in the area. This did not feel like a rental, it felt like I was borrowing a friends house. Thanks so much Earl!

Absolutely perfect!!

We had a wonderful time here and hope to return one day! This house is perfect for a quiet getaway. I can’t say enough about how well equipped the house is. If you forget something don’t worry because they will have it there. The owners were so helpful and accommodating. We had some issues getting to the house because we arrived in the dark and it was hard to see where we were heading. The owner had a close neighbor help us out! Once you get up the drive once you’ll have the hang of it. The house was decorated perfectly! It was even decorated for Christmas, which was a nice surprise! This was worth every penny! Thank you for sharing:)

Amazing home with beautiful views.

We really enjoyed this property; the house was in excellent condition and very clean. The porches are great place to spend the afternoon reading a book or taking in the views. We had planned to eat out most nights but the kitchen was so nice we ended up cooking dinner instead. We also really enjoyed the privacy of this location yet we were only 10 minutes from downtown. We are already planning our next stay!

Did not want to leave

We loved everything about this house and our time there. Had planned a couple of activities in the surrounding area, but never wanted to leave the beautiful views from the porches. We cooked fabulous meals in the gourmet kitchen and played board games on the porch....a perfect getaway for my husband and myself, our two grown kids and their spouses!

It was fate!

This house... is simply amazing. There are so many beautiful custom details and the lot is very private. We stayed in the master bedroom which was just lovely. The master shower has an ungodly number of nozzles which was simply delightful. We spent the majority of our days sitting outside on the wraparound porch, watching the humming birds zip in and out. We had 4WD so getting up the driveway was not a problem but.. I'd be a little worried without it, especially on the day that it rained. The owner is more than accommodating and really helped us out of a pickle when we needed to switch rental properties in a jiffy at the last minute (to his). Luckily someone had just cancelled on the property and we were able to sneak in, but I think this will be the house we rent on our yearly vacation to the mountains. It'd also be great for a group retreat, though I enjoyed it with just the two of us. And now we have something to shoot for when we retire. We would like to clone this house!

Spectacular

My family and I spent a week at this beautiful, well appointed home. Upon arrival we were blown away by the place. Not only are the views absolutely incredible but the house is much nicer then we expected (and we expected nice) It didn't feel like a rental, right away we felt at home. Your view from both inside and out are breathtaking. Because of the altitude, it felt like being in a VERY NICE tree house, for lack of a better description. Both the house and grounds are impeccable and it has all the amenities of home. The owner of the home was a pleasure to deal with. He was quick to answer any and all questions or inquiries and very thorough. There are ample things to do,from shopping in town, hiking to waterfalls, scenic overlooks, kayaking, whitewater rafting & zip-lining. There are also some trails for smaller children as well as a great park in town which included a small spray park area. We had a blast! We all would highly recommend this to anyone looking for relaxing and fun getaway.
