This is a peaceful, quiet setting in the woods and on the lake with nature and it's sounds all around. It is a beautiful property and we love to share it with others. You will feel like you are in your own little world here and life's stresses will be forgotten when you drive down our long winding driveway to this sanctuary. It is our little slice of heaven, away from it all.
The common loons return as soon as the lake opens up in late April. We love to hear their calls, knowing that they are back again. We excitedly watch and wait for them to nest and hatch a chick or two. It is a very welcomed sight to see. Shirley has been the lake's volunteer loon ranger since 2020. They remain on the lake until September or October. The smell of camp fires, the calls of frogs and crickets at night, crows cawing in the morning, pileated woodpeckers drilling a tree, eagles soaring over tall pine forests, hummingbirds and butterflies are all part of our love of living up north at the lake. My favorite times of the day are early morning just after sunrise and the evening, just before sunset. Watching the sun set over the lake from the dock, is very beautiful, along with watching the fish surface on calm-water evenings and the great blue heron, bald eagles, sandhill cranes, deer, rare black bear, ducks, loons and geese going about their day. Nature abounds here. You will feel the draw and hopefully become a part of it also. There is something very special about being "up north at the lake."
