I'm a Townsville girl originally so Magnetic Island is a place I spent many weekends as a teenager. Back then, I certainly wasn't able to stay anywhere near as beautiful and luxurious as the Beach House. Maggie Island itself is one gorgeous girl. Easy access in under half an hour, or 40 minutes if like us, you choose to take your car over. In hindsight, probably didn't need the car since we had everything we needed and more at the House, and the island has great public transport. The House itself is massive with enough space for our two families and kidlets. It is a stunner! Rooms are spacious and like a hotel with their own shower and toilet. I love, love, loved waking up to the gorgeous blue north Queensland sky and hearing the native birds letting us know it was morning. There's a massive kitchen with anything and everything you would want, including an espresso machine, gas oven and dishwasher--because like, who wants to wash dishes on holiday, right? The dining table would have been suitable for a dinner party but with our small kids we especially enjoyed the deck overlooking the bay where we spent our meals and enjoyed plenty of drinks watching sunsets and listening to tunes on the house stereo. It's the only house in this bay, and we pretty much had the beach to ourselves the whole time. Kids had to be dragged kicking and screaming inside at the end of the day. They enjoyed beachcombing, swimming and digging in the sand. The waters were very clear and calm. We also swam in the house pool and used the BBQ right next to it. I managed to catch some rays (read: sunburn--don't forget to protect your skin people) from the poolside deckchairs. Wine tastes so much better outdoors, doesn't it? So if you've managed to read to the end of this review, you'll know that we had a bloody amazing time, and are already dreaming of when we will be able to get back. Hope it's soon!
