Driveway warning and few supplies

Ok, this was by far the worst stocked rental I've ever had. I had to buy hand soap, laundry detergent, and everything for the shower. I've never had to worry about all of those essentials before when renting a house. Also, there weren't enough washcloths or pillowcases. I slept my whole stay on a ruffled decorative pillow sham which left me with lines on my face every morning. To top it off the dishwasher was broken and the driveway to enter would have been impossible without an SUV (uneven vertical gravel pathway). Overall, it was clean and it worked but we've stayed much better places that were more comfortable.

Over-priced

Propert size was good. No AC. No cable. Poor mattress at best, uncomfortable to sleep in. Driveway not drivable unpaved and very long up steep hill to walk because had to park SUV at bottom of hill and carry all luggage to unit. Highest cleaning and host few ever paid and unit contact request we leave tip for cleaning crew. Unbelievable. I have stayed at vrbo rentals for about 10 years. I don't know how this rental qualified. I will not recommend and would not rent again.

Strange vibe

When we got to the place the property manager wouldn't pick up his phone for an hour. With other reviews saying they had to leave from him not picking up we were especially nervous. It's hard to pin down in words what caused this place to give off such strange vibes but I'll give some examples: None of the TV remotes had batteries. There was no doorknob on one of the bedroom doors. Some of the furniture was covered in plastic and/or hadn't been removed from its original packaging but still looks well used. There were precariously placed glass items all around the house and especially in range of the pool table. I saw a lot of reviews saying the driveway was destroyed so we planned on walking. The driveway was absolutely destroyed and difficult even for walking. And as all the other reviews said, the host asked us to tip the cleaning service (even after the cleaning fee).

Spacious Clean Home

Lovely house - 2 large living rooms, clean throughout (only 1.5 bath), 3 small bedrooms. Close to towns, outlet, Camelback and excellent restaurants such as Berrelli's Family Restaurant and Barley Creek Brewing Company, among others.

TERRIBLE

Vrbo had different contact information for this property owner than what he emailed me; different phone number and email I reached out five days in advance before our stay and he didn’t answer until less than 24 hours before our stay All he says to introduce himself is “lmk when you arrival” I told him twice the day of arrival what time we were going to be at the property and he did not answer four different number. About 30 calls went out to him when arrived and he did not answer. Looked at the property; dirty boxes under the back deck, painters tape crossing off all over the back deck, noticed THE KEY WAS IN A DIRTY SOCK after an hour of not responding, we left Vrbo tried reaching out and he didn’t answer but he tried contacting all number 4 HOURS LATER

The driveway is a joke!

If you don't have a suv or a pickup truck you can't drive up the driveway without doing damage to your car, was told by the House manager To leave a tip for the cleaning lady, are you kidding me? We paid over 100 bucks for a cleaning fee, house is out dated and holes in the walls, nothing like it shows in the pictures but it was a place to sleep and take a shower for 4 guys.

Nice House

The home is beautiful and spacious for the small group that went up. since there was snow there was no access to the driveway so we had to park by the cars by the mailbox and walk up a "path" to the house. the path was what i assumed to be the driveway - which from the reviews before mine mentioned that it wasn't paved so we were slipping and climbing thru the mud. some of the dishes in the home weren't cleaned and the house was dusty in areas. overall our stay was lovely and was close to camelback mountain. would stay again!

Would definitely stay again

The house was very clean and stocked up nicely.. the only complaint I have is how cold it got in the downstairs part of the house, this is where all the bedrooms are and also the cleaning tip .. we did leave a tip for the cleaning crew however I believe it’s unprofessional to ask for it especially when you are already paying a significant cleaning fee from the time you book .. we cleaned the house up spotless before we left so the cleaners got a nice tip for minimal to no work at all .. I believe that the tip should be at the discretion of the renter.. also I think the owners should invest in paving the driveway, if we didn’t have a 4 wheel drive there would have been no way we would have made it up there..other than that the place is recommended

Wow ...

So ... I wish I could post pictures here. 1st of all, the driveway is TERRIBLE!! It is not paved and there are several "holes" in the dirt on the way up. It took 3 tries before I was finally able to gun it up the hill to the house. 2nd, the property is unkempt ; the grass needs to be mowed, there was a huge hornet's nest on the side of the house, and a broken TV in the yard. In the house, there is no air on the 2nd floor so despite the ceiling fan the te.temperature stayed in the 80s. A sheet is being used as a curtain, the dishwasher is broken, the mattresses have plastic on them and were uncomfortable and none of the remotes worked to access the electronics so we had to go buy batteries . As advertised, we went to check out the pool at the community center. But, you need badges to get in and the owner only left 3. He tells me to call him when we get there and he'll try to resolve the issue ... if not we can pay $5 per person to get in. (Why should I have to pay when he's advertising it for free use?). We get to the pool and I find out the owner hasn't paid his owner's fees, so technically we can't use the pool anyway. Luckily, the woman there was very nice and said she wouldn't turn away the kids. As his advertisement, we straightened up when we left and washed the dishes by hand (remember the dishwasher is broken), and he text me at 11:30 (check out is 11), and asked me to leave a tip for the cleaner. I kindly replied that we had left already as checkout was 11 and no, I will not leave a tip because I have already paid a cleaning fee included in my rate. I have used Home Away several times and this was the 1st disappointment.

Not what expected

NO Driveway. Those who were driving cars could not drive up the hill. House was clean but dingy. Dowstairs bathroom was old. A very small shower to only fit one person. Property outside was not cared for, lots of long grass
