The listing does not do justice to this beautiful property. The view is breath-taking. The beach is unbelievable - the sand is so clean and white (and virtually private). There are some fun rock formations which book-end the beach on each side - and make for a little climbing adventure if you're so inclined. The cottage is clean and fresh and in immaculate condition.
We were here the last part of June / first part of July, and we felt like we had the whole Eastern part of the island to ourselves. (which was fine as far as we were concerned). We ate fresh seafood almost every night (from Bergayles fish market - about 10 mins West of the cottage) and from a vendor in Souris. The kitchen was fully stocked with anything you could possibly need for preparing meals.
There are also 2 public beaches, one 4km to the East (Basin Head, which is pretty nice, and has a worth-while museum/exhibit on fishing in the area) and one 4km to the West as part of a provincial campground. The main village, Souris, is nice enough, and there are 2 grocery stores and a liquor store (if driving through Quebec - stock up in QC - as PEI beer/alcohol is pretty expensive). Also - the selection and prices of food was a bit better at the Sobeys in Charlottetown. There's not a lot to do in Souris - but there is a good Visitor information center, and Ch'Town is about 75 mins away and Cavendish about 2 hours.
The tap water was fine for drinking and the owners even included lab-analysis of the water in the welcome folder. Communications with the owners was easy enough, and setting up the contract and payment wasn't a problem.
We went cycling almost everyday and loved it. The Confederation Trail is about 7km north off of Baltic Road, and is best suited for Hybrid / Mountain Bike or Cyclocross bikes. You can also join the trail directly in Souris. Road cycling is a bit sketchy in the area - the roads weren't terribly busy, but the cars travel fast, and the main highway is a little narrow in this part of the Island.
For people with mobility issues: the house is on a cliff overlooking the ocean, and there are a few steep stairs to navigate to get to the beach; but it's worth it. Alternate beach access at Basin Head is only a short drive away if the stairs pose a problem.
Other bonuses about this cottage were: high-speed wifi, satellite TV, huge DVD library.
We really enjoyed our relaxing and peaceful vacation here.
