Oriental is a lovely, small town. And of course, being close to the water is great. The house is within walking distance to the water... for most. Unfortunately, not for me. I have osteoarthritis in my hip and knee and it was flaring up while we were there. Husband had to take me in the truck, which made for a couple of lonely days when he had business elsewhere and I stayed alone. What would have made my stay better is being able to rent a golf cart. There are no such places in Oriental. But the cottage has great wifi and cable TV with Spectrum (a big plus).
The cottage was nice. It is an old cottage. And we had a few issues while we were there; namely, hot water didn't work very well (had to turn shower off and on while showering to conserve), had a smoke alarm go off, one kitchen light flickered (and couldn't be fixed by just changing a bulb but I found a different switch to use in the kitchen and worked around that problem), and we could leave hardly any food items on the counters because of ants. Also, two windows don't have locks. Fortunately, Oriental is a very safe town. But I did sleep with more lights on than usual.
The property manager was as attentive as she could be. But she was limited in what she could do because, as we were told, the house was older and the owner didn't want to address some things.
Would return to Oriental...if golf carts were available...but I'd find a different place to stay.
