Fairbanks area yurt

Spent 3 nights in Colleen's yurt. A very well kept and supplied yurt with ac during our 85* days. It's located about 20 minutes from town.

Great property outside Fairbanks but close to town. Next to ski mt. Fully equipped great space. Definitely 4WD in winter.

It was just right!

The yurt was clean and smelled clean which is the first and most important to me. My 15 and 18yr old daughters are very picky and they loved it.

Tucked away beauty

Our stay at the yurt was amazing. Better than expected! I loved that it was tucked away and quiet. We got to experience the northern lights above the yurt our last night, such a magical experience…wish I could share pictures! You will not be disappointed; adorable, clean, comfortable and quiet.

Perfect base in Fairbanks area !

Aurora Yurt is in a beautiful location and has everything you need to relax between adventures in the area. Peaceful lovely view . Using Colleen’s tips we saw the Northern lights 3/6 nights in spite of cloudy forecasts! Convenient location not far from University of Alaska Fairbanks museum, trail system groceries restaurants. We used the well stocked kitchen and were plenty warm in the Yurt. Colleen’s beautiful snow dogs came to visit and they are special! Would like to return in summertime and would definitely stay here again .

Perfect Yurt outside of downtown lights

This yurt was very spacious and we were two women staying here for a week. Colleen was so helpful during the booking process. She answered all questions and made check in a breeze. Colleen had everything you could possibly need in the yurt. The washer and dryer were super helpful to so you could pack less since you could wash! We loved the deck and the loft upstairs. If I came back to Fairbanks I would definitely stay here!!

Awesome View

We absolutely loved our stay. The yurt was cozy and clean with views of Denali. My kids loved to sled in the driveway and it's just beautiful and peaceful. Colleen was super helpful and sent me information about the aurora. It was a cloudy night but I was still able to see a faint show of the northern light. This is really the best experience for our family.

A few lessons learned.....

Staying in the yurt was such a neat experience! Being outside of town in the hills was relaxing and quiet as we had expected. The yurt was as described in terms of size. Upon arrival we appreciated the easy check in process and the extra items left for our use. However, the washing machine had been closed and smelled of mildew and there was dirt in the refrigerator. We were able to resolve those issues on our own. Aside from those two issues that only other improvement to the yurt we feel could have made our stay better was screens doors. Even when following the summertime rules for keeping the yurt cool it was 85 degrees inside when we returned at night. We could open windows and use fans to begin cooling it down. However with the door and the vent at the top of the yurt not having any kind of screen we had mosquitoes each night. Unfortunately we did run into a major issue during our stay. During our stay we noticed the water appeared to have air in the line and then the water stopped all together. We tried to reach the property owner by phone but she was traveling and responded 7 hours later. We had already moved to a local hotel. Lessons learned..... Express concern right away it is the owners job to fix issues Call VRBO they will relocate you and pay for it (This would have saved us lots of time and money) Go ahead book the yurt... just learn fro us what to do in case you too would have any issues.

Having never been in a yurt we had no idea what to expect but we were up for trying new things. When we walked in the door we were surprised by the size … a full kitchen very well stocked …2 bedrooms and a loft! And a full size bathroom w washer/ dryer. Beds were very comfortable.. everything’s was very cute. You’re up in the trees which is what we love but you’re still close to town. We were lucky enough to be able to view the lights which actually Colleen messaged us to let us know so we wouldn’t have missed them. If you love being in the trees and want a relaxing unique experience this yurt will not disappoint!

Northern Lights!!

We came to see the Northern Lights and enjoy Fairbanks. The Aurora Yurt was a great place to retreat to at the end of a long adventure filled day. It was also great for viewing the Aurora right out the front door

Must stay

The yurt was cozy, comfortable and just amazing. If you’re looking for a remote place, this is it. Buy groceries since you’re about 20 minutes from town. They provide a lot of kitchen supplies. If you want to snowboard/ski, it’s a mile from Moose Mountain and 40 minutes from Skii Land and 25 minutes from the airport.

Peaceful Perfection

If you have the opportunity to stay in the Aurora Yurt, do it! Most beautiful, and comfortable place we stayed! The Aurora was spectacular, sunrise and sunsets were a close second. This place is thoughtfully arranged and maintained! Loved it!

Cozy Getaway!

We loved staying here! Colleen was great with ongoing communication, including detailed directions & checking in. We arrived to a warm, cozy, & spacious place with twinkle lights, lamps & candles welcoming us. The bed was comfy & the morning sunrise out the front door/windows was beautiful! We highly recommend this to anyone who wants a peaceful, out-of-city getaway!

Late fall stay, unbelievable

Just the right distance from Fairbanks to feel you’ve gotten away without being so far you can’t go into town, this place was incredible. It has a phenomenal view, a quiet ambience, and a fully furnished cabin with all the typical amenities of a home. I came here with my friend, and other than groceries, we were fully provided for and did not need to access Fairbanks unless we wanted to. The property manager is easy to contact through the vrbo website and is very responsive. She also let us know whenever she noticed the aurora so we wouldn’t miss it. We did see the aurora from the cabin, with perfect darkness and elevation for fantastic viewing. If you’re looking for a quiet getaway in a warm, cozy, mountain forest cabin with a view of the Fairbanks valley right from the kitchen, this place is amazing. Would strongly recommend four wheel drive to get up there, but the roads are maintained (plowed) from Fairbanks to the cabin (just a thick snow and ice layer). We had a ford explorer and it was perfect. I cannot recommend this experience enough.
