I was in Mexico City on business for four days and decided to stay away from the congestion of downtown for the first time in years. My host, Juan Gabriel, was away but his gracious sister and brother-in-law were there to get me situated, find me a cork screw and show me the trick with the front door. Everything went as planned, I slept peacefully, listened to birds in the morning, ate around the corner and strolled to the San Angel market on Saturday morning. They had a big jug of bottled water and cookies waiting for me and there was plenty of hot water and a very comfortable double bed.
They are a lovely family of five siblings living separately in a large garden compound with individual rentals available for travelers. You get all of the privacy, peace and quiet you need in a safe secure environment. But, if you need something, they are a little pathway away.
I still had to accomplish a great deal in the city but I had a very quiet place to return to by the way of a cobbled road. It made the transition of "there" to "here" a delight. Their place is highly recommended for a break from the American way of work.
I might add that the PayPal remittance link to VRBO failed on numerous occasions and Juan Gabriel just trusted that I would show up and settle my affairs once I arrived. Someone having the confidence that that I would honor my word was a real plus for me.
