My wife and I (just the two of us) stayed at this wonderful villa at the southerly end of in Hua Hin for two weeks from 11th-25th December 2009, and we had THE most relaxing and enjoyable time. The villa is perfect for either just a couple or for a very large family, with all the features of a self-catering villa that you need and expect, and is well managed locally by a local lady who knows people who can fix all things.
The owner of the villa is by far the best owner we have dealt with in the past ten years and was extremely helpful and straight-forward. She was great, and is a lovely lady.
The villa is near the fishing village of Khao Takiab, at the most southerly end of Hua Hin. There are many great beaches nearby (and we preferred the more upmarket South Hua Hin beach to the more hippy Khao Takiab beach, so it was worthwhile wlaking about 400m to the better beaches), and also many great restauarnts within short walking distance (especially Rua Rimtarn, aka The Boat, for perfect seafood, and the Anantasila resort just 200m away for all types of food, both western and asian).
The villa has a wonderful garden and swimming pool, offering a little haven of tranquility away from the bustling town of Hua Hin, but there is a local "samior" service (bus service) that starts about 300m away in the triangular square and that bus will pick-up and drop-off anywhere along the entire Hua Hin strip, and is extremely cheap (just THB 10 baht per person per trip) and runs from 7am to 7pm. Perfect for trips to the shops, a large Tesco supermarklet in "The Village", and exploring Hua Hin and the various different beaches etc. There is no need to rent a car with this great samior service just minutes away.
Our first day was a bit of a surprise as we had no idea how large Hua Hin has become since we last went there ten years ago, and now Hua Hin is a rapidly growing tourist destination, and inevitably there is some building work going on around the town, and also some building work locally in Khao Takiab, but it is relaxed and not obtrusive, and after our first day we didnt really notice the typical Thai "mess" and we had a perfect relaxing holiday. After two weeks in the villa, going back to the noise of Bangkok was actually a massive culture shock as we had truly wound-down whilst on our wonderful holiday.
Highly recommended and we very much hope to go back again in 2010.
