This vacation had the potential to be an absolute nightmare but our hosts were quick to jump into action to make our stay as comfortable & accommodating as possible. This trip was initially planned to celebrate our Anniversary in April but due to the pandemic lock down, we were forced to cancel & reschedule in June. Jamie was very responsive to our questions & she gave us the early spring rate for our summer stay. We drove 7.5 hours from our home in NW Ohio the day we checked in. The trip started off on a rocky foot. We stopped to grab a bite to eat before we crossed state lines & wound up getting sick on our breakfast. I packed some anti nausea medication which allowed us to carry on & ride out the remainder of the 4.5 hour drive. 15 mins before reaching the vacation rental, our truck blew a transmission cooling line. We lost all power & found ourselves sitting on the side of the road. Luckily I was able to coast up to a state trooper that was in the middle of a traffic stop. He sprung into action quickly, called for back up to help keep us safe & a tow truck to get us off of the highway. Meanwhile, I sent Jamie a text message to let her know we were in distress but back enroute as soon as the tow arrived. In a half hearted rant, I mentioned that it had not been a good day given we had gotten food poisoning earlier on & now this. Knowing that we wouldn't have any means of getting to the grocery store to buy essentials with a dead vehicle, Jamie took it upon herself to make a run down to the cottage to deliver some food items to make sure we didn't go hungry. She even included a 2 liter of Coke to settle our angry tummies. Seriously! How awesome is that?! (I was so humbled, I cried.) It was a little past dinner hour once we got to the cottage. To avoid having to dip into the groceries that were left for us, I called a local restaurant (The Bloomin Onion) that I found a menu for in the cottage to see if they delivered. The answer they gave me when I asked if delivery was an option was simply "If you don't have a way to get your food, we'll be sure to find a way to get your food to you." Wow! Is this real life?!? Cresco is full of angels! While I was securing dinner, my husband got on the phone & made arrangements with Jamie to get our truck repaired. As luck would have it, they own a repair shop just up the road. They towed it in for us the next AM and by 4 PM we were back on the road to an amazing vacation! Thank you both for everything!
