Very odd post and review as you told us about none of the issues you found with the place. A lot of hours are put in on changeover cleaning and we would have checked that and the mattresses though we had replaced the ones we thought were uncomfortable. Finding fault with a new Bosch fridge with 346 liter capacity when you also have a brand new fridge in the bar and a 6 foot freezer is unusual and unexpected. Complaining that the hot tub and summerhouse is 50 meters away from the manor house is also a first. Most people think the private situation in huge gardens is a plus. The cover does need replacing but can't be described as dangerous except to our electricity bill. The swimming pool that your children loved and spent the week in gets no mention though it is only 25 meters from the house.

The unrelenting and total rubbishing of a lovely place and people trying to help you speaks more of yourself than the property. Yes the aga wasn't on as is normal in hot weather and we couldn't get an engineer to start it until after your stay. Yes torrential rain on your arrival day affected the outside pool but we dosed it correctly and your party used it after day one. Though it is a large period property the cleanliness we know was good as the family prepared it after taking a 2 day holiday there following a full changeover by the cleaners.. The safety concerns were only raised after you had stayed there for the whole stay and the fire safety inspectors you called in found nothing wrong with the wiring and there is a working integrated alarm system. Every bedroom and living/dining room has radiators and the gardener insists that you decided on Monday that you didn't want it on and despite speaking to your party every day to answer questions about where to go locally, he was not asked to put it on. Considering the hire was for an 8 bed manor house almost all with en suites, plus a 3 bed cottage,with pool and hot tub in extensive and lovely gardens, some things can and will fail but we checked and almost all the faults you list were not there. The price paid was very competitive.

Your group left the property in excellent condition and we would love to host your family again. We hope to have a few renovations done this year so hopefully that leaves for a nice surprise if you ever decide to stay again.

Dear Claire, Yes the gardens are very large and lovely and your children clearly enjoyed exploring them. I am disappointed that you didn't like the house. It has been modernised and is centrally heated with 8 en suites. It was done in a way that retains the character of a manor house with an Aga,farmhouse kitchen, period fireplaces and sash windows. The cleaners had shampooed carpets just before your stay and we thought the house was clean, but will check further in future. I am sorry as we did have problems bringing the pool out of winter hibernation and it was deeply murky on your arrival. However, it was largely clear by midweek and despite the tests showing it was safe to use, but you chose not to swim and and just use the hot tub.

I'm really glad you enjoyed your stay. Yes, it is a steep hill however, my Granddad makes it up and down the hill to the village with relative ease. Other people love the place because we have the peace and privacy of a house in the county & then the amenities from a very close village.
