Beautiful riad and wonderful host

This riad is a short walk from where the van dropped us off. Ibrahim kept in communication with us and met us at the van. He served Moroccan mint tea and biscuits and helped us with any questions we had. He even met two of the people from our group who had a flight delay at 11:30 at night. The home is beautiful, and he even had breakfast set up early for us since we had to leave to catch a van out of town. It was the perfect example of Moroccan hospitality in a beautiful renovated riad. I would definitely stay here again.

Great location in Medina. Close to gate for easy pickup for activities outside Medina and easy walking distance to center of Medina. Ibrahim was so helpful and Armenia’s cooking was terrific

Amazing place and people

My family stayed. It was a great location for Medina but also quick access out. Brahim and Amina were excellent, helpful and kind, they helped us a lot. We spent 4 nights and are planning our next trip back. Each room with your own bath and air conditioner is great..and the upper patio is wonderful.

Beautiful riad

Spacious freshly painted riad with a very large terrace. A perfect retreat from the bustle of town. The hosts Brahim and Amina were very nice and happy to help with everything. They gave us lots of information and arranged for our transportation.

We had an amazingly magical experience right in the Medina at Riad Al Janoub. We thoroughly enjoyed our time and the care of Brahim and Amina was excellent. Beautiful traditional home in a well located area, close to the medina. The hosts were amazing. Amina and Ibrahim would come every morning to make us breakfast and see if we needed anything. We stayed in touch with Ibrahim even after checking out asking for directions while on the road to our next destination. Would strongly recommend this place to friends and family.

Very Special Experience

This Riad is very special. Staying here added such a genuine environment to our experience in Marrakech. The 3 stories are very spacious. Amina and Brahim are SO kind and friendly and helpful - they made our stay VERY nice. The Riad is very well located - inside the Medina walls, but not right in the middle of all of the noise and busyness. Highly recommended.

Amina and Brahim were excellent and made our stay at Riad Al Janoub very enjoyable. They were more than attentive to our needs and helpful in every way but, at the same time, gave us our privacy. Amina prepared an excellent breakfast each morning as well as dinner for one of our two nights of our stay. The food was freshly prepared and reflected the local cuisine. Brahim was available at a moments notice. I would highly recommend this property f you want to to immerse your self in the local community.

Excellent Riad in the city!

Excellent Riad! Very beautiful property. We were 6 people, the host was amazing. Clear communication and very helpful. Once in Riad, Brahim is there to help out. He even arranged dinner for us on both nights on our requests. Found us a driver to take us around the city. Basically any questions any time you will have someone to help you. Loved the spaces especially the rooftop!! Would defo like to visit again! Aman

Beautiful stay in a beautiful city

This was such a lovely experience. Brahim, the host welcome us with tea and cookies. He was communicative and always available. There was one evening he even delivered food to our riad when we were weary from traveling. The place was so clean. Amina did an excellent job of maintaining the place, making our beds and providing us with a delicious breakfast. The A/C was key during the week we were there. Hot water was also available if we wanted (but we all took cold showers in the heat). The place was so nicely decorated and felt like a true authenticate stay. Would recommend it highly.

Fabulous time in Marrakech

We stayed here with our family for 4 nights over the Christmas holiday. We could not have been happier with the accommodation and the location. A traditional Moroccan riad inside the Médina is the way to go. The riad was beautiful, the rooms spacious and comfortable and all of the decor/ accessories were top notch. Brahim and Amina were so nice and helpful. She cooked us the best lamb tagine that we had in all of Marrakech and Brahim flawlessly arranged our airport transfers in addition to a trip into the Atlas Mountains. An extra special touch - on Christmas Eve we laid out a few presents that we had brought, around a potted plant in the courtyard. When we woke up Christmas morning. we discovered Amina decorating the courtyard with Christmas-y streamers, making such a festive atmosphere for our family. That was extremely touching. We would love to stay here again next time in Marrakech!

Charming riad - 15 min walk from main square

Our family of two adults and two teenage girls had a wonderful stay at Riad al Janoub for a week. The riad is located in a quiet area, just inside the medina, and far enough away from the chaos of the souks. The rooms were beautifully appointed, the beds very comfortable, and the breakfasts prepared by Amina simple but sufficient to get our days off to a great start. And the rooftop terrace was a perfect place to spend the evening, after an exciting but often tiring day exploring the wonders of Marrakech. Indeed, we ended up ordering several takeout dinners from Kech Foods, about a five-minute walk away, so we could soak up the nighttime quiet and atmosphere. But we also patronized the Riad al Sinbad restaurant just steps away, and had a terrific meal. The only thing travelers should bear in mind is that it can be hard to find your way back from the souks, especially at night. Also, the WiFi can be a bit slow, but this is true wherever you stay in Marrakech, so it's really not a big deal. Still, the riad has a secret weapon, in our view, in Brahim, who was an excellent resource and fixer for our various overnight and day-trip excursions. Thank you James and Carolyn and Brahim and Amina for making our trip so wonderful and memorable!

Nice Riad in the Medina in Marrakech

We enjoyed our stay at Riad al Janoub and especially found Carolyn and James incredible helpful with a host of information before our trip. Brahim and Amina are extremely friendly and helpful and Amina cooked us fresh bread, pancakes and/or cakes every day for breakfast (different every day) which was delicious. One thing we weren't expecting though was that Brahim (the caretaker) would be staying in the riad every night so we never felt that we quite had our own space, which for some people might not be an issue at all but for us was a little disappointing. In some ways this meant it felt a little more like staying in a hotel, but this may be welcomed by other guests. Certainly Brahim and Amina were delightful and welcoming so it's in no way a comment about them. It's a fair walk from the main square (about 25 mins) which meant that once we'd left for the day we tended not to come back until the evening. Consequently we made very little use of the lovely roof terrace except for breakfast. It's an easy and interesting walk in though so it wasn't really a problem for us. It was quite cold in the evenings during our stay so we were very grateful for the heaters in the bedrooms. The communal sitting space downstairs though is an open courtyard and we had to keep requesting firewood for the evenings as it would have been very cold without a fire. Cafe Arabe, on the way into the square was a great place to stop off for drinks, and we also enjoyed the Marrakchi on the edge of the square. The food from the stalls in the square was good, inexpensive and with a great atmosphere. And don't miss the gorgeous coconut 'macaroons' sold in the square (usually by women with a single tray) for 1 DH each, which were absolutely delicious and eaten in fairly large quantities by the four of us! All in all, a good authentic experience of staying in a Moroccan house in the medina in Marrakech. Many thanks to Carolyn and James.
