Lovely and enjoyable stay

The cottage was a lovely place to stay with everything we needed. Communication prior and during our stay was very helpful. Some delightful welcoming gifts for all members of our party.

Stay at sweet rose

Location great although a little tricky to find, car park also a bit tricky (narrow and loose gravel) host great and very chatty, accommodation bijou but fine for 2 people no shower and quite tricky spiral stairs?

Relaxing Stay at Sweet Rose Cottage

A lovely week spent at sweet rose cottage. The cottage was in a peaceful area. There was a great bakery near by where you could get freshly baked bread cakes pasties. We had a lovely walk along the coastal path and whilst there paid a trip to Plymouth Dartmouth Dawlish and a lovely village near by called Cockington really worth a visit. Martin was lovely. Would definitely stay again.

Simple perfect stay

Sweet rose barn was exactly as we had viewed on the website. Martin & Kim were absolutely fabulous hosts. Lovely little touches throughout the stay.Our dog Barney was made to feel very welcome. Great location for visiting tourist locations. Close to amenities. All in all a great five days away. Thank you and we hope to return soon Dawn, Steve & Barney xx

Short Break

Sweet Rose Cottage was very clean and pleasant and as described in the details online. It was nice to be greeted with a bottle of wine and snacks, milk coffee tea and sugar enabled us to have a drink on arrival, even better as we arrived around 9pm after visiting family earlier. (even our dogs had snacks provided).

Perfect for us.

Sweet Rose cottage has everything we (2 of us) needed for a short stay in Torquay. The bedroom was great, with a really big comfy bed, lovely thick bath towels. The bath tub was lovely so bring some nice pampering bath gel! The kitchen and sitting area is small but has everthing you need if u do not want to eat out all the time. It’s great for 1 or 2 people for few days.

A lovely cottage in an amazing location

We thoroughly enjoyed our stay in Sweet Rose cottage. Martin and Kim were wonderful hosts who left booklets of incredible advice on local places worth visiting and also answered any queries/ sorted any concerns we had very swiftly. They went above and beyond to make sure we enjoyed our stay, with goodies and all the tea and coffee we could ask for on arrival. The kitchen was also very well equipped, it was like being in a home away from home. We would definitely recommend Sweet Rose Cottage to family and friends, it's in a brilliant location for a relaxing holiday away.

Little bit of paradise

The sweet rose cottage was nothing short of perfect for us. Very comfortable superb kingsize bed, Bentley our dog loved it being dog friendly. Martin and kim were exeptional hosts nothing was to much trouble the welcome pack was a loverly touch. This will be a place we will stop at again. Thankyou Martin and Kim

Lovely quaint cottage.....

Cottage was fully equiped , dog friendly , and contained everything you would need for your stay . Off street parking , a bonus in Torquay . Beautiful , secure gardens that give you plenty of options to find the sun , shade or a quiet place . Would stay again , and the 3 cottages together would be an ideal option for larger groups . Thanks again !!

Unique cottage

The Sweet Rose is quite neat very small downstairs but a lovely bedroom,unusual to have bath there and I was a bit concerned that my wife could navigate the stairs as she has Parkinson’s but she was absolutely fine. The dog loved the garden and meeting the other dogs in the neighbouring cottages.We really enjoyed the visit and would recommend the cottages and the Barton area.

Disappointing

The property was very disappointing from beginning not as we expected at all. Our stay was for 7 nights but we left after 3 due to lack of space and general condition of property it was more than season weary. We did enjoy going to local beaches and sightseeing very good weather. Would not recommend this particular property but others seemed happy with thiers in the other barn conversions.

Quaint & Unique , just perfect

3 day break Easy to find with local shops close by . Parking is tight so ensure you reverse park for ease of getting out of the carpark . Hosts are wonderful . The cottage is so cute for 2 people , plus our dog , everything you need. Oven works well and the welcome note and wine , treats for the dog was a lovely jesture. Pic shows spiral staircase , be prepared for the steepness. Great use of space . Bath is lovely to soak in after a day exploring the area . Loved our stay and we will be back.

Romantic quiet little cottage, highly recommended

We spent a very relaxed week in this beautiful little cottage, enjoying the quietness and the garden. It is perfectly located to explore beaches, Dartmoor, and the towns nearby. We recommend Shaldon, our favourite. We look forward to coming back!

Sunny uplands

Very neat and tidy property. It was furnished with plenty of white goods and a small settee. The bedroom was comfortable and the bath great. Spiral staircase may not be for the faint hearted, but it is what it is.

Fabulous

A lovely little cottage for two in ideal location for exploring the coast and countryside. Shops within walking distance for any last minute needs. Cottage perfectly equipped.

Lovely stay in beautiful accommodation

Sweet Rose cottage is small but very pretty with loads of character. The kitchen is deceptively well equipped having everything you might need. Owners are friendly and helpful. We had a relaxing break and would recommend staying here.

relaxing summer break

Sweet Rose cottage is in a great location to explore the many and various beaches etc. Very comfortable with all you need to enjoy including a nice enclosed private peaceful garden. Local shops within a short walk ideal. Martin was extremely helpful giving us lots of information tips in folder for a very enjoyable holiday.

We love partnering with holiday owners in this hidden gem of the UK. Pilgrims Rest Cottages is a fantastic example of this. Proud owners Martin and Kim restored the cottages and have been welcoming guests since 2009. Since then they've picked up multiple awards but still have the same passion and drive to deliver an exceptional guest experience. We are delighted to bring these 3 fabulous cottages to VRBO and add them to the Saltwater Escapes collection.

Sweet Rose is one of three award winning barns at Pilgrims Rest. This quaint one bedroom property features a luxury roll top bath and king sized bed making it a relaxing and cosy place for a couple to stay and explore the English Riviera.

Sweet Rose is all about relaxing and unwinding. As you enter this lovingly restored cottage, you will find everything you need for a cosy space for two people. The open plan ground floor layout includes a sofa, dining table and kitchen area, while spiral stairs take up upstairs to the bedroom where you will find a super king size bed a a gorgeous roll top bath to enjoy a luxuriating soak with a glass of wine or champagne.

Guests also have access to a range of beautiful outdoor spaces that are shared with the other cottages on the site. Choose from the sunny courtyard at the entrance of the properties, to a beautifully furnished orchard garden featuring an oak table and chairs, sun loungers to enjoy in those blissful summer evenings. Why not BBQ in Orchard Garden which all 3 cottages are welcome to share.

Please note that upstairs is accessed via a spiral stair case, with stair gates at both the top and bottom. The stairs may be challenging for those with mobility issues. For any questions or concerns around accessibility, please don't hesitate to contact us.

Dating back to the 15th century with links to the Spanish Armada and the Prince of Orange, now loving restored with historical roots but filled with modern day luxuries. To stay in such a place, yet have access to excellent local shops within a stroll, beaches, countryside and all that Torquay and surrounding villages offer, is brilliant.
