We have traveled for the last 4 years with another couple and a teenager or two. This year we chose Abaco and my husband found Camp David. Fishing is very important to him, especially bone fishing (fly). Casuarina Point is the right place! And Camp David was the perfect villa for a party of 5. Casuarina Point is about 20-25 minutes south of the airport in Marsh Harbor - a rental car is a must. Kathy will provide all suggestions and instructions of where to rent, shop, eat, fish, etc. A stop at the grocery in Marsh Harbor, and the liquor store is recommended before heading to Camp David.
The house is very thoughtfully designed, all on one floor. There are two master bedroom en suites on opposite sides of the great room. The beach-side of the house is fully windowed and wow...what a view! The third bedroom is on the street-side of house with twins and en suite. All bedrooms have TV's. The kitchen is nicely equipped and proportioned. It even has a bar icemaker which is a plus! Kathy provides recommendations for in-home cooking and we strongly recommend Debbie Burrows! What a sweet person who prepares delicious Bahamian fare! Lobster tails, fish, chicken, conch chowder, conch fritters, rum cake, cole slaw (to die for) & the BEST key lime pie....you won't be disappointed! And have her come prepare your meal at Camp David!
The porch overlooking the beach got a lot of use! Coffee in the morning...hot tub relaxing during rain or after coming off the beach (showered first)...sunset cocktail time and after-dinner star gazing. Ahhh...
The beach has powdery white sand that stretches for a great walk in either direction. Because of the location, the water is very shallow and full of sea life! Sand dollars, queen conch's, sea stars, star fish, lots of fish...you'll love it! The skiff was very much put to use for exploring and fishing!
We visited Great Guana Cay on Sunday for the Nippers BBQ Sunday Funday - quite a party. Ferry service is out of Marsh Harbor. We also visited Hopetown on Elbow Cay & Man-O-War Cay via charter boat. Treasure Cay is a beautiful beach with azure water - try Coco's for casual lunch/drinks and enjoy the beach!
We were at Camp David 9 days and didn't see and do it all. Most importantly, we relaxed and my husband bone fished with a guide. Can't say enough nice things about Kathy & Gary - they really go out of their way to make your trip enjoyable! Can't wait to return!
