Magical stay in Sicily!

What a wonderful place to have as our base to explore Sicily! First of all, Maria & her family are incredibly helpful , friendly, and responsive to any questions (even giving us suggestions of places to visit, eat, see holiday celebrations, etc.). The villa is very clean and comes with all essential amenities. The location was perfect for exploring Sicily by car and by train, and there are also restaurants within walking distance (that were open in April). We highly recommend the food and staff at Lido Delle Palma, and be sure not to miss the incredible food and hospitality of Makanan. This was our first trip of what will be many trips to Sicily and we are very grateful to Maria for her incredible generosity. Looking forward to our next visit to Villa Flora!

Lovely, quiet, beautiful area!

The beach house is what a beach house should be - not elegant but comfortable and with the required amenities. The house is across a small street from the beach. The Lido there rents umbrellas and chairs and has food and drink. There is a lovely restaurant down the street. The owners were quite pleasant and picked us up from the train station and delivered us back there.

No AC in tiny bedrooms, loud music from the bar all day long

We are a quiet tight middle age parents with two boys, 16 and 20 year old. It was our long anticipated trip. We were looking specifically for the unit that has AC, July in Sicily is very hot. This property was listed as having an AC. When we arrived we discovered that there is no AC in the bedrooms. When we tried to negotiate the refund or partial refund the owner was adamant not to compromise. He said as long as there at least one air conditioning unit he can say in advertising that there is an AC, implying that we should have been asking about every room separately . From our correspondence: “Since it is not clearly specified that there is air conditioning in the bedrooms there is nothing different in what you found.” “The advert mentions that there is air conditioning among the amenities and in fact you have found it in the living room. In no parts of the advert is specified that there is air conditioning in the bedrooms”. We could not afford to just lose $800, and go to another place although I tried to negotiate. I slept in the living room, my husband slept outside, on the cot bed, boys blasted fans and slept under wet sheets. It was nightly nightmare. The rest is serviceable. The house is old. Water does nor drain from showers, so you stand ankle deep in soapy water, and the sink in one of the toilets does nor drain. There is a strong moldy smell from that one. While the property is located across the beach, there is no water view, only view of the parked cars in front of the house, an iron gate and a road. The beach is unremarkable, packed with people. There are two bars directly In front of the house, that play loud music relentlessly, day and night. If you are looking for a relaxing family vacation- it’s not a good place for you. Check in and out was easy.

Excellent location on the beachfront.

Excellent location and literally a stone's throw from the beach. Lots of lovely beach restaurants nearby for lunch. However, a car is definitely needed as the supermarket is a 20 minute walk. Maria was very helpful with any requests and questions we had before and thoughtout our stay. We did have a couple of nights where music from the beach lidos was played until the early hours of the morning, and this was not ideal with young children, but this was perhaps due to the bank holiday falling during our stay.
