Great location

We spent a lovely, relaxing two weeks at Chez Sophie. The house was ideally located for us as local amenities were in easy walking distance and lots of lovely local walks. There are some fantastic local places to visit within a short drive and some great places to eat as well. We had a few teething issues primarily as we were the first visitors of the season but this did not impact how much we enjoyed our time and holiday. The garden is great for dogs as secure and very spacious.

Disappointing, Not a proper 2 bedroom property.

Disappointed with the quality of cleanliness on arrival eg BBQ, Oven, Glasses all dirty. Biggest issue however is that it is not a true 2 bedroom, be aware you have to pass through the Master bedroom to access the guest bedroom. In addition to that the Master bedroom is in essence a mezzanine above the lounge so no privacy at all. The downstairs bathroom involves going outside the house, not ideal in the night and also needs some attention eg blind to door missing (again no privacy) and drains blocked in shower. Comms were good with the owner but the property for our needs was not up to scratch and the advert needs amending to reflect the true nature of the inside space.

We checked the property just after the guests and we feel the review is inappropriate. We live away so this is always a concern however in this case unfortunately the guests didnt leave the house as expected. They also did not rrport anything to us.The property is clearly described as it is. The bedroom has a jack and jill bathroom and is seperared by 2 doors. The guests left the upstairs toilet blocked and rubbish unsorted in the bins. We were very disappointed in finding this when we arrived to check the quality of the house and feel this is the reason for their review as we have certainly not experienced this with more than 10 years of guests. The house is around £75 per night so its also hard to believe that providing quality linen and towels as well as a very well maintained garden and pool wasnt mentioned. However we understand cleaning issues can happen and if quickly reported can also be addressed so we do wonder why this wasnt done.

Nettoyage insuffisant, aucune protection enfants pour l'une des chambres, contacts uniquement en anglais (idem pour la note technique laissée dans la maison), absence de tout document touristique sur la région, contact uniquement WhatsApp avec la propriétaire en anglais et représentante locale ne parle qu'anglais. Pas de balai et aspirateur à bout de souffle. Doit impérativement améliorer la prestation.

Thank you for your review. A guest document with tourist information in french was sent to yourselves prior to your stay. We communicated in french via messenger and our housekeeper spoke english to you when she was called out to help you lock the doors given you spoke english. As you stayed with no children, child proofing was not supplied. As our housekeeper was called out for minor things several times you would have had the opportunity to point out the broom was missing. In the meantime we have ensured this is available as well as a new vacuum cleaner. This is self catering accommodation, other guests have previously not had issues locking doors. We have since checked all door locks and as previously they are perfectly workable. We would not rent to this guest again and would not recommend them for self catering accommodation as unfortunately their expectation is to have someone on hand and whilst we have a local housekeeper and she was very happy to attend most guests will work simple things out for themselves.

Maison typique de Charente avec joli extérieur.

La maison et l’extérieur sont sympas. Il y a un manque d’entretien : parasol cassé et très vieux, toilette avec broyeur fonctionnant mal, wifi au bout de 5 jours sur 7, robinet change des le lendemain, tapis et coussins très sales…. La propriétaire avait des soucis avec le gestionnaire. Le nouveau a fait ce qu’il a pu pour nous satisfaire dans l’urgence. Joli jardin mal entretenu par ce fait aussi. Cependant une fois reprise en main ce sera un lieu très agréable.

Séjour au calme

Nous recherchions le calme et nous l'avons trouvé. Malgré une mauvaise météo les enfants ont pu profiter du jardin. Très bon accueil de la propriétaire.

Demeure située au calme à la campagne intérieur très cosy et confortable très bonne literie chambres spacieuses a noter cependant que dans une chambre l'existence d'une poutre peut s'avérer dérangeante pour les personnes de plus d'un mètre soixante piscine OK extérieur très grand et bien aménagé très bonne plancha produits d'hygiène et quelques produits alimentaires à disposition ainsi que linge de lits et de toilette tout etait parfait

Great rental

We really enjoyed our holiday in Chez Sophie. The house is lovely and very well equipped with everything we needed for our stay. We received a very friendly greeting from Sylvie, the propery manager who was very helpful. The welcome pack was also lovely touch. The enclosed large garden was very peaceful and great for our two dogs who loved running around it. We would definitely recommend Chez Sophie for a holiday.

Mooi en rustig verblijf.

We hebben een heerlijke vakantie gehad. Vooral erg genoten van de tuin. En ook de badkamer en slaapkamers waren erg mooi. Alleen een beetje weinig opbergruimte voor de kleding.

Great location

We had a wonderful stay at Chez Sophie, the house is very quirky with lovely decor, a home from home. The house is well equipped and Rose kindly leaves some essentials for your arrival. Sylvie the local manager is very welcoming and on hand should you need her. Villefagnan is a lovely village and the locals are very friendly.

Uns hat es super gut gefallen !

Es war Wunderschön, sehr empfehlenswert für jemanden mit Hund. Alles was man zum leben braucht war vorhanden und noch mehr. Wir hatten einen wundervollen Aufenthalt.

Great holiday staying at Chez Sophie

We arrived at Chez Sophie at 8pm on a Saturday evening to find not only a beautiful gite but also bread, butter, cheese and wine plus jam, pickles etc left in the fridge. So we felt at home straight away. We also had our two dogs with us and they loved the place especially the huge garden. My husband can’t sleep on a hard bed but he had no problems on the bed here it was so comfy! The village was quiet but had all the essentials, bakery, where we bought our pain au chocolate most mornings. It also had a great butcher, bar restaurant, post office and corner shop, we used all of these. We found another bar restaurant nearby called Auberge d Noyer, run by 2 English guys, Steve and Sean, the food was fantastic and the company also. We visited many lovely places whilst we were there so Chez Sophie is a good base for sight seeing as well as being like home from home. Hopefully we will be back next year!
