A rare property in its determination to preserve the life and lifestyle of the Camaiore with virtually all of the modern conveniences, Le Tre Case offered an exceptional vacation experience. One arrives through roads lined with mature trees that bend toward one another, until a small sign indicates a right turn upward. Through fields & forest, the sound of breezes & a distant suggestion of water make it plain that life is different here: slower, more sensuous. Then, a sharp left & down a small hill. Are we there yet? A small yet wholly adequate parcheggio appears, surrounded by dense green hedges, rose bushes clinging to wooden fences & the scent of air uniquely verdant. Through a small green opening, the beauty of the landscape unfolds in every direction, though in its center, this old stone house, so stoic yet softened by drapes that capture the breeze. The house is simple yet spacious. One enters into a small yet perfectly adequate kitchen, with modern appliances, then through a living room whose door opens to the outside, with a breathtaking view of the mountains that stretch out before it &, down the hill, an in-ground swimming pool with a large umbrella that presides above it. There are 5 bedrooms, all spacious and comfortably accommodating to two people each; 3 bedrooms have en suite baths, while the remaining two share a large bath. Wifi throughout. The house manager greeted us on arrival, providing a tour & area insights, & she was readily (& virtually immediately) available by text for any assistance we might need, including reservations. A housekeeper arrived daily and tended to everything. She is also available to cook, & prepared a feast for us the day we arrived. Our group enjoyed it as we dined outdoors, the evening alight with countless candles. Magical!
Orbicciano is a quiet village with grocer and baker, but Le Tre Case is a 20 minute drive to Lucca, an ancient city with countless shops & diverse dining. Ristorante All-Olivo in Lucca was divine! As good as any restaurant in Rome or New York, with an intimate ambiance created by its family owners. Cinque Terre is an amazing natural destination that has been built just enough to serve its visitors without ruining its essence. And Forte dei Marmi, often referred to as the St. Tropez of Italy, has all the world's luxury brands. We preferred dinner at Pesce Barracca, a feast as fun as it was delicious!
Easy to recommend without reservations!
