This villa is located on Paros, an island that seems to draw Greek locals more than the very touristic Mykonos or Santorini. While the house does not have a direct sea view from the ground floor, its location is excellent. Within a 2 minute walk are little shady, bougainvillea perfumed alleys that wind down into the heart of the charming town of Naoussa, to narrow pedestrian streets that offer tantalizing views out onto the aqua waters of the bay and the sound of waves. Dozens of restaurants, bars, and night clubs, as well as high-end boutique shopping and a town square and waterfront with an antique stone fortress, are all within an easy stroll. If one turns the other direction leaving the house, the beach is a five minute walk away, with a choice of golden sand or stone shingle, shade from pine trees or full sun and parasols.
Naoussa is also a good jumping off point for the rest of the island. Dimitri was kind enough to provide us with an excellent guide to local restaurants, bars, and beaches that was accurate and well thought out.
Prior to our arrive, Dimitri was extremely responsive and careful to make certain all details were attended to. We had some special requests, like needing three baby cribs and having groceries pre-purchased for our group's arrival, and he made certain that these requests were met precisely. The detail and promptness of his communication were excellent. When we arrived at the house, the hot-water heater was broken, but it was fixed within just a couple of hours of our arrival. The local staff were pleasant and effective.
The house itself is lovely with a wonderful outdoor dining area, barbecue, and pool, and the bedrooms were large and had brand new linens and towels. The kitchen had many useful appliances such as toaster, blender, food processor, microwave, dishwasher, and a large fridge. It was well stocked with cooking ware and tableware.
There were only a few small problems with the villa: one of the upstairs bedrooms only has a curtain for a door; some of the showers had a bit of mildew (this is not unexpected in a bathroom in a climate this hot); the hot water heater was a bit touchy even after it was repaired, and required being turned on and off for use. All in all these were minor issues and did not detract from the pleasure of the stay. Please be aware that there is a 90 euro cleaning fee at departure, which we hadn't realized was included.
