Every year, we invite our children and grandchildren to spend a week at a cabin. Our goal is to bond as a family and make memories doing the simple things. This cabin is surrounded by nature and its beauty. We saw eagles, pelicans, cormorants, loons, herons and more. We caught walleye, northern pike, crappie, and perch. We laughed when the cows in the nearby pasture came so close we thought they were in our yard. We bought jam, pickles, syrup and sweet corn from a local Amish family. We ventured into Osakis for ice cream and sampling at Panther Distillery.
Yes, the stairs are steep heading to the upper bedrooms. But they are better than the ladder I climbed to get into the loft of other cabins. We appreciated the wagon for hauling firewood as well as moving groceries from our cars. We brought our own floatables so the kids could swim (right off the dock) but plenty of life jackets were provided on the pontoon (well worth the rental fee for those of us who love a leisurely cruise). We also brought a few campfire chairs for our almost nightly fires. The owners were friendly but not invasive. Their response was extremely quick when we had questions. A great quiet hideaway!
