This was the best accommodation we have ever stayed in. The house was stunning and as per pictures. So much space for 13 of us. Service & communication was superb and host was warm & welcoming. Everything was clean, excellent pool and super helpful. You will need a car as it’s hard to get around without one but very easy to drive everywhere and explore! We will definitely come back again

Amazing Villa

My family and I (there were 15 of us) spent an incredible five nights at this property last week. Francesco couldn’t have been a better host. Such a nice guy and the dinner/tour of his winery (Fattoria Maionchi) were amazing. We also had a great experience with Gianni and Lucca at InVino, who did at pasta making class for our kids one night and a meal for everyone the next night. Couldn’t recommend this place more.

A bit of heaven in Tuscany

The grounds were filled with roses, the villa was beautiful and spacious. The outdoor seating and dining area were perfect with great views. The bedrooms were spacious and elegant. The outdoor pool area was beautiful and the indoor pool was stunning. We hired a chef one night and the presentation and food were spectacular Obviously, all 11 of us were thrilled with our ten days there. Everything was beyond dreamy! The dryer was really very noisy and didn’t dry very well. We dried the clothes outside on the rack.

Super good house , fits a big family or 2 as it has separated areas . The kitchen can cope cooking enormous meals and is equipped end to end with every accessory needed The indoor pool Needs to be warmer in order to be used in non summer times .

Enchanting Villa

Our two week family holiday was amazing. The house was everything and more!! We all enjoyed it thoroughly. Beautiful, clean and great amenities. Summer 2019

We had a wonderful visit with a party of 12. Manuela made sure that everything ran smoothly and that we were taken care of. Tucked into the hills, the location provides privacy but you also have fairly convenient access to groceries and restaurants down in nearby villages. The property is gorgeous and we enjoyed hiking in the surrounding area through the olive groves and vineyards. We highly recommend this property.

Lovely group holiday in fabulous villa

We were a party of 8 adults and 6 children and had a lovely time. The villa is stunning - well equipped and beautifully furnished. The heated indoor pool was necessity so early in the season and well used by the children. Pretty countryside and close to some vineyards, lovely walks and also walkable (just) to the village for restaurants if required. We had Cristina prepare a welcome dinner and also she came to give us a cookery lesson which was great fun. We'd also recommend 'Tuscany Ride a Bike' in Lucca - we organised a bike ride with a guide which included lunch at a farm.

fantastic feelings at Il Palagio by Lucca Apartments and Villas

Villa Palagio is situated on a Tuscan hillside very close to Lucca with gorgeous views. We had one of our best holidays here with six other couples. The villa is spacious and intriguing. The pizza oven was a huge hit. One evening we had a delicious dinner prepared by a local chef. My best memory is drinking wine on the veranda while listening to the music from the village festival. Sonia was the most attentive agent I have ever dealt with. We had Fantastic feelings - highly recommend!

A very special place!

the villa is amazing ! very beautiful and tastefully decorated, the theme of birds is evident in every room. the furnishings are of high quality, it is spotlessly clean and everything is provided, towels (changed mid week and house tided, )hairdryers, mosquito killers and soap etc. the gardens are lovely and there are beautiful plants and whimsical touches everywhere. the bedrooms are gorgeous , beds are comfortable and the air conditioning is efficient and quiet ! the outdoor space is wonderful and the indoor pool is a bonus, the outdoor pool is big and has lovely sunbeams and parasols. the hot tub is really warm and lovely to sit in at night. we loved it and can't wait to go back !

Magnificent villa with beautiful views

We booked this villa for our family reunion and had a wonderful stay! The villa is very spacious and well equipped and was able to accommodate 9 of us plus two babies very comfortably. The pool is magnificent with spectacular views, plenty of pool floaters available. Multiple dining areas available allowing for options during sunny /rainy weather. Lovely bedrooms and bathrooms with lots of Tuscan charm. Close proximity to Lucca, Forte dei Marmi and grocery stores for immediate shopping needs. Mrs Manuela was very welcoming upon our arrival and was always available to answer all our questions and provide recommendations. Thank you for being a wonderful host and we look forward to coming back very soon! Our stay was perfect and would highly recommend this villa to everyone!

Perfection in Tuscany

This villa was perfect in every way for our family and friends. The grounds are well maintained, the pool is beautiful and the indoor hydrothermal spa in the basement was a perfect way to relax at the end of a sight seeing day. We shared the villa with our family friends and with two separate staircases to the bedrooms, we each had our own space. With the back house, you could easily share with three families comfortably. Our kids were in heaven with the pool setup and exploring the grounds every day. We did not know much about Capannori before going, but it feels like this hidden gem within Tuscany. It was not super touristy (which we loved) and there were so many beautiful wineries and restaurants in the hills. Including the owner Francescos winery which is right down the street! Lucca is the most charming little town and was our favorite place to go for shopping and dinners throughout the week. We did use Chef Graziella for two private dinners at the Villa and those were hands down our best meals of the whole trip. She was phenomenal! Only praises for this extraordinary villa, the location and the people who made it a beautiful experience for us. Will be returning!!

We stayed at the property in late March 2019. Our stay was absolutely wonderful. The Vil-la was beautifully done. Bedrooms were comfortable, the kitchen large, the living spaces spacious and more than enough for everyone. The house was immaculate. The grounds were beautiful, the garden was romantic and elegant with many lemon trees and the ga-zebo on the top of the fortress surrounding the property with a breathtaking view. The heated pool was a welcome relief in the afternoon and well used by our children. We were also blessed with a lovely owner available for our request and always met with a big smile. Sonia, the host, was outstanding. She was like a personal concierge. She helped arran-ge anything we needed during our excursions thru Tuscany. Advice on best places to see, best spots to park, best restaurants to visit. This is my 8th visit to Italy, but I saw it through new eyes. This note is just to say how much we loved our stay in Villa Il Palagio. This Villa was the PERFECT way to appreciate Tuscany: it's location, the views, and especially the hospitality, It is a magical place! We loved every moment. A million thanks.

Utterly Divine!

Villa il Palagio is a Tuscan dream come true, and exquisite in every detail. The furnishings and fittings are all generous and lovely, and the setting is glorious (a garden filled with birdsong, the heavenly scent of roses, and the pervasive murmuring of the ancient mill waterfall in the background). Directly from the door, there are delightful walks amidst vineyards and olive groves, while numerous medieval cities, villas, historic churches, magical seaside villages, and mountain vistas are all within easy reach by car. Our hosts, Francesco and Daniela, could not have been more charming and helpful, and an olive oil and wine tasting, with delicious, locally-sourced dinner at Francesco's family's historic Fattoria Maionchi on our final evening was a highlight of our stay (and cannot be more highly recommended)! Although there were only three of us staying at the villa (my husband, myself and a friend), we felt that our stay was very reasonable, considering the wealth of luxurious features the villa possesses. Because the bedrooms are divided into three separate "suites", there is a high level of privacy, despite the number of bedrooms. The villa is particularly perfect for history buffs, as it's been sympathetically restored from its former function as a mill house, retaining time-worm stone sinks and the palimpsest of former windows, doors, and mill apertures still visible in its sun-soaked walls. It was truly difficult to leave this magical place! Although the villa is exceedingly well stocked with dinnerware, cooking implements and appliances, etc., the lack of a dish sponge and detergent make keeping things tidy difficult. We went and got our own, but these necessities are normally present at rental homes. Likewise, most rental homes provide basics like pepper, a small bottle of olive oil, initial supply of coffee, and (in the UK at least), a small carton of milk, which are particularly appreciated by overseas travellers who arrive at the villa having travelled for two days and a night. It was an unforgettable time

Our group had an absolutely amazing time here. The villa was beautiful and clean - tucked away in the hills of Capannori, it provides a stunning view of the valley with Lucca’s walls and towers in the distance. The outdoor areas were lovely and well-maintained, with a picturesque garden and perfect pool a few steps below surrounded by olive trees. We particularly enjoyed the indoor grotto pool - it felt like your own personal spa! Francesco was a gracious host and was helpful and responsive throughout our stay. We would strongly recommend visiting his winery just a quick walk down the road, Fattoria Maionchi. Delicious wine and olive oil in a place steeped with history. Lastly, we would also recommend hiring chefs especially for larger groups like ourselves. Larissa and Valentino of TastEmotions are local Lucca-based chefs who are familiar with the villa and our host - their food and service was truly spectacular and outshined well regarded restaurants in Florence. It was an unforgettable time and we hope to be back soon!

Beautiful Tuscan Villa

Highly recommend this Villa. We had a large group of 13 adults and were very comfortable. We dined outside every evening. The pool outside was very refreshing. The thermal spa downstairs was relaxing after a long day. Overall this villa was amazing! We hired a private chef, Alice, to cook several meals which was a special treat. The sunsets from villa are breathtaking. only comment - Would suggest replacing the kitchen main sink - it has problems draining.

Amazing Family Vacation!!

We had an amazing family vacation at Villa ll Palagio! The pictures very accurately represent the property.. We had 11 adults and had plenty of room to spread out and many areas to share together. Things to keep in mind are that this Villa is fairly remote. You can’t walk to a store to pick up groceries/ basic necessities easily. If you do not have car this can be tricky. There is a shortage of taxi services since many went out of business due to the pandemic. We were fortunate to have found a car service that was wonderful! Had we not found them our experience would have been very different! Of course, you pay handsomely for this service. Because of remote location & price per week of the villa, we felt that more basic necessities should have been provided at the villa. After one day we had to purchase toilet paper, paper towels, dishwasher soap, dish soap, sponges etc. etc. Also, because recycling is mandatory & refuse must be separated or heavy fines are incurred, we expected the host to provide the recycling bags which they did not. That made things a little tricky as well. Without proper bags in the recycling bins, we had an ant problem all week in the kitchen. We also had an issue with the outdoor pool. After 2 days, it began to turn green. Allessandro was wonderful in getting the pool service out quickly, but it took several trips and several hot days before it looked swimmable again. On our last day the filter stopped working altogether & again had to be serviced. It did not stop us from using the pool for most of us, but wasn’t an ideal situation. Another suggestion- please provide ice cube trays for the Villa or an ice making machine! This was a big problem for many of us, who prefer ice in their cocktails. We resorted to cutting off the tops of plastic water bottles & making ice in them before we were able to locate a store that sold bags of ice (after 3 days). If the very simple plastic ice cube trays had been provided it would have been so much easier! Also, an outdoor clothesline would be nice too. Dryer is not great! Lastly, if you stay here you MUST hire Alice to come to the villa and prepare a meal (or two or three!) for your family! Alice was recommended to us from the host & she did not disappoint. We were fortunate to have her as our private chef for 3 different nights! A wonderful experience that our entire group loved and will never forget!! Lastly, the host also owns a winery- would have been nice to taste that too!

Dieser Platz ist eine wahre Oase.

Wir haben uns unglaublich wohlgefühlt. Bei uns war der älteste 85 Jahre und der Jüngste 5 Monate. Insgesamt waren wir 14 Personen. Das Haus ist so toll gestaltet, dass jeder seinen eigenen Bereich hatte und die gemeinsame Fläche umfasst das gesamte untere Stockwerk. Das Highlight ist die Grotte. Super geeignet für lauschige Abende. Wir wollen auf alle Fälle wieder kommen. Alle waren begeistert.

A Magical Family Christmas

A magnificent property that was decorated beautifully for Christmas. Francesco was very accommodating. We had a cooking class with Cristina that was great fun & resulted in delicious food in large quantities, she even accommodated my husband’s very restrictive diet. He ate better than ever! Our drivers from Tuscan drivers were delightful and Katherine was very helpful with all of the navigation around Covid restrictions in addition to the transportation. Alice prepared several nice dinners for us. One person in our family has difficulty walking and the annex worked well for her needs. With Covid, you must do a great deal of planning; however, it was definitely worth it!

Magnificent Holidays

We stayed with our Family and Friends for 8 days. The location was hilarious and exactly how we have expected it. Francesco the owner was very helpful in giving us assistance within the local area. The wine tasting - hosted by Francesco at Fattoria Maionchi - was an experience we will not forget. We were amazed with how much love and taste for details the house & garden is decorated. All in all a wonderful estate in a fantastic surrounding area. We will come again - for sure ! Christian & Family
