Desert Paradise!
The owner and host, Umberto and family graciously greeted us and took his time talking about the house and the surrounding area, beaches, sites, and best restaurants/tapa bars in the small local towns (all of which were close by, 15-20 minutes by car). We stayed for 6 nights and it seemed like not enough in this desert paradise. We travelled with another couple and rented the two- bedroom suite which very well appointed, lots of room, extremely clean, and had everything we needed.
The house is well situated for access to several beautiful wild beaches, and numerous forts and historical sites. Markets and groceries were 15 minutes away where you can get everything you need. The site is set back out in the countryside with beautiful vistas of the mountains and dessert. There was a great outdoor patio to have dinners and a fantastic pool, loungers, and outdoor shower to cool off. Even though the days were hot, the building was built with great airflow and retained a cool temperature inside – evenings cooled down nicely for sleeping. Great hiking available from the backyard! The vista from this property was beautiful.
We cannot say enough good things about both Umerto’s home and his hosting – a wonderful place to stay, very unique, and an absolute treasure find. We highly recommend this home for your visit! We will be sure to return another time and continue to discover the desert towns and wild beaches of Cabo de Gata.
