Perfect for a family holiday and birthday celebration

Very organised hosts who communicated well throughout. Very well presented and equipped house, plenty of space for family holiday. Very nice pool and gardens! Layout is quirky, and wouldn’t suit all family set ups, but we made it work without too much trouble and had a really comfortable and fun stay. Great area, nice villages and places of interest close by.

Loved it

Great property, ideal for large family group. Pool and gardens were excellent and the big round room great for us all when it rained one evening. Supermarket a short drive away and lots of vineyards all around.

Perfect summer getaway

Great stay for our group of friends and kids. Amazing house and huge garden with pool. The kids loved it too! Lots to do in the house and the garden with everything provided for use. We also enjoyed the little stream next to the house, which you can take a small boat on. Gabriel was a great host, communicative and accommodating. Thanks and hope to be back again sometime!

Charming Stay

We really loved our stay in this amazing chateau. We were with a big group, and had more then enough space. The swimming pool was big and not to cold. The garden invites you to sit outside the entire day with a glass of wine and some french cheese out of the Loire Region! There are nice markets in the region where you can buy fresh products. The kitchen is well equipted, so cooking and eating is a great possibility.Thank you overal for our stay. We hope to come back in the future! Thank you Gabriel and Brigitte and Michèle!

A true home from home !

We had been recommended to stay at Angers-Saumur-Layon by friends who have had the pleasure of repeated visits. We were not disappointed! It is an ideal venue for a family gathering, with everything you need for a perfect holiday . The house is spacious and well equipped, the garden and pool expansive. We had a relaxed holiday with lovely weather. Thank you Brigitte !

Amazing huge space for 3 families on holiday together! It was really hot when we were there, so we loved cooling down in the pool with our inflatables, kids especially loved it. We enjoyed playing in and exploring the huge beautiful gardens, some of us also enjoyed kayaking down the river- lots of birds and nature to see and hear! The house itself has lots of character, and the two lounges were nice and cool for us to retreat to from the heat for some games or a film! Also enjoyed some lovely walks along tracks past vineyards etc which run from just near the house. Kitchen, while not massive, has all you could need including a huge fridge-freezer, and there's a lovely outside shaded outside space to eat near the kitchen. Michele who checked us in/ out and was available for , responded very quickly and was very friendly and helpful (and we just about managed with our limited French!).All in all a brilliant stay, thank you so much. Hope to maybe viait again one day!

Awesome chateau/ Landhouse with great historical details

We spend a week with three families in Gilbourg (6 adults and 6 kids (6months - 4 years old) and had a great time. The entrance is magnificent and the garden even better. We very much enjoyed eating in the garden and sitting around the fireplace when kids went to sleep. All rooms have been decorated with great taste. Only thing is we bunped our head many times at the low entrance of the kitchen and living room, but that is part of the charm for the property. Swimming pool also fenced well, so kids could play in the garden. Overall wonderful place and excellent location for wine tours and cycling. Definitely will book again.

Simply stunning home, grounds and pool we're the icing on the cake!

We were a large party of 14 including children and grandparents and the house had more than enough room to fit us all in very comfortably. The house was fully equipped with all amenities necessary, the bbq and ping pong table were a big hit! A few more directions regarding taking care of the pool would have been good though! The area was very quiet and a car is necessary, not much was open during August so be prepared to travel for a meal out! Over all we enjoyed a fantastic family holiday and will recommend Gilbourg to everyone!

Nous avons passé un excellent séjour dans cet ancien château où nous avions tout à disposition pour amuser petits et grands. Le lieu est magnifique et reposant avec la rivière passant à côté. L'arrivée a été très simple et la communication facile avec les propriétaires. Je recommande fortement ce lieu.

Fabulous stay!

We stayed for two weeks in this lovely house. Our ages range from 9 to 62! The highlights for us were the pool and garden. The houses are well appointed, with comfy beds and rooms (although an extra loo would have been useful) and there are lovely large sitting rooms although we hardly used them as we were outside all the time. But the reason the pool and garden made the holiday for us was the size of them. The garden is enormous, almost sprawling! And the large trees give plenty of shade. The pool is a good size and allows a decent length for those of us who want to do a few lengths rather than just lounge. We were spoilt for choice with places to sit and our two weeks went by in a flash. Would absolutely recommend!

La Vie de Château

Quelle chance nous avons eue nous et nos amis de séjourner dans une telle propriété, dans une région riche en patrimoine bâti et produits du terroir... Ce gîte est un coin de paradis, la propriété est vaste et très bien entretenue, nous avions l'impression d'avoir privatisé un petit hameau. Le charme des lieux agît aussitôt.

Très bel endroit, demeure atypique chargée d’histoire. Piscine et parc magnifiques, beaucoup d’équipement à l’intérieur, nous n’avons manqué de rien. Nous avons passé un excellent séjour à Gilbourg.

Très confortable

Nous avons passé un excellent séjour en famille et avons bien profité de la piscine. La maison est très bien équipée, les chambres sont confortables, il y a suffisamment de sanitaires pour tout le monde. Le jardin et la piscine sont très bien entretenus et permettent de profiter des extérieurs en toute sécurité avec de jeunes enfants.

A wonderful stay in a unique property

We were a group of 13 from 3 families with a range of ages, adults and children. The house was absolutely lovely. Beautiful structure, with a moat, circular tower room and attractively decorated. The fact that there were separate buildings didn't really matter to us though some groups might find it a bit tricky. The house was extremely well equipped with ample cookware and utensils. The pool and huge grounds were fabulous and we loved seeing lizards, bats and even water voles. It is extremely peaceful and rural - we did some great star gazing at night time. The children also loved the table tennis and courtyard area for playing games. The only thing we thought might have been useful would have been a little bit more information about local attractions eg a few tourist leaflets. We had to visit 3 nearby tourist information offices before we found one that was open - it is a very quiet area. That is what we loved about it though so it isn't really a criticism! We would recommend kayaking on the Loire (we started from Les-Ponts-de-Ce) and also enjoyed visiting a local vineyard for a degustation - delicious! Further afield we visited Puy du Fou, a huge historical theme park with live shows from different periods of history, which was very interesting. Overall we had a truly wonderful week in Gilbourg and wished we could have stayed for longer.

Un domaine paisible et enchanteur !

Nous avons passé un long week-end dans cette belle demeure en famille. Tout est parfait, bien équipé, décoration soignée, espaces extérieurs très agréables. Nous nous y sentions tellement bien que nous sommes même pas sortis pour visiter les alentours ! Je recommande vivement et à une prochaine fois, c'est sur!

Des vacances formidables. Ein traumhafter Urlaub.

C'était une maison dont on rêve, un vrai château, bien restauré, avec un jardin superbe, la grande table à l'ombre d'un bel arbre, une belle piscine, une balançoire pour les enfants,... et autour de tout un fossé... C'est idéal pour les familles avec des enfants. L'intérieur est équipe avec goût et avec beaucoup d'amour. Les chambres sont belles, la grande salle de séjour avec la grande cheminée dans la tour ronde est incroyable où l'on se sent vraiment bien. La cuisine est très bien équipée. Il y a beaucoup de choses à visiter dans la région, des châteaux, des villes, des abbayes, des parcs... Et quand on quitte la propriété on peut se promener le long de la rivière du Layon et des vignobles. C'est très joli. Et les propriétaires étaient tellement gentils et très soucieux de tout. Je vais retourner!! Merci pour des vacances formidables.

Superbe propriété, excellent séjour.

Nous avons passé 3 jours entre amies dans cette magnifique demeure. Rien ne manque dans cette maison très bien entretenue. Elle se prête aussi bien à une journée détente à profiter du jardin et de la piscine, qu’a La visite de la région et de ses vignobles. La personne qui nous a accueillit était très agréable et disponible au cours du séjour en cas de question. Rien à redire, nous y reviendrons avec plaisir. Merci.

Another wonderful stay!

Yet again we had a great two weeks at our favourite holiday home. Sadly, the weather wasn't quite as good as previous years but that didn't stop us enjoying the facilities in and around the house. Our five grandchildren were with us and they had a ball, with lots of space to play and, of course, the pool - swimming skills were much improved by the end of our stay! Gabriel and Brigitte are continually upgrading aspects of the house and it remains a wonderfully comfortable and inviting home - we have felt very lucky to be able to spend time there and hope to return again soon.

Wunderbarer Ort um sich zu erholen

Wir (sechs Personen) verbrachten wunderschöne Ferien in diesem schönen kleinen Schloss mit grossem Pool. Die Beschreibung entspricht in allen Details den Vorgaben. Das Anwesen besteht aus zwei Häusern und sehr grossem Umschwung, ideal auch für zwei Familien nutzbar. Fernab von den grossen Touristenströmen kann man eine wunderbare Gegend erkunden; auch grössere Städte wie Angers, Saumur oder Nantes sind nicht weit. Die Eigentümer sind sehr freundlich und das Preis- Leistungsverhälnis ist ausgezeichnet. Wir können diese Feriendestination vorbehaltos empfehlen - sie lässt keine Wünsche offen.

nous avons passé un magnifique séjour de 4 jours avec nos amis dans ce lieu magique ... le soleil nous a permis de profiter des extérieurs qui permettent à chacun de prendre l'espace dont il a besoin ... je conseille vivement cet endroit si vous aimez le charme de la vieille pierre , la qualité de l'ensemble habitable , la beauté d'une rotonde historique , le calme de la campagne et les plaisirs de vie que peuvent offrir les diffèrents espaces . un vrai bonheur. . et merci à Brigitte et Gabriel, les propriétaires des lieux d'avoir fait en sorte que tout se passe bien pendant notre séjour

Beaucoup de caractère, énormément de confort !

La première impression, même extérieure, est la bonne : On sera bien ici ! 5 couples d'amis, tous assez exigeants sur le caractère, le confort et les équipements y ont trouvé ce qu'ils espéraient. Le grand salon circulaire est impressionnant mais très convivial. (La grande cheminée bienvenue en mi-saison.) Le logis avec les chambres principales très confortables et décorées (très bonnes literies). Environnement hyper calme, et très beau parc. Terrain de pétanque de qualité "professionnelle" ! Une excellente adresse, et beaucoup d'attention de la part des propriétaires pour préparer notre séjour. Merci !

Séjour très agréable

Cette maison m'est très chère car j'ai grandi dedans pendant la plupart de mes vacances avec mes frères et mes cousins! Que de bons souvenirs! Je n'ai pas été déçue en revenant, au contraire. Les lieux ont été très bien réarrangés avec le maintien du cachet du lieu. Je me suis sentie comme chez moi!! Le contact avec les propriétaires est très agréable. La maison est très spacieuse ce qui permet de séjourner nombreux sans se marcher dessus et le cadre est superbe même l'hiver! Je recommande!
