We stayed last week with our 3 dogs at this lovely cottage in South Creake. Having visited the area last year, we knew that we wanted to be in the vicinity in order to be at a comfortable driving distance of all the various beaches that are very easily accessible & provide sufficient options for variety. The cottage is situated in South Creake with the Creake directly opposite - which has a delightful population of Ducks and their Ducklings. The green is also handy for a short stroll and provides a further area for playing, in our case for our dogs but also an added benefit for visitors with young children as it has a small playground as well as tennis courts available .
We met the landlord Alan when we arrived, and he was very welcoming and friendly, giving us some additional tips on places that we might like to try; one of which was a beach we had not been to before, but he recommended as being ideal for dogs - and we went twice! The property itself is just what we imagined from the details given – much larger than it appears from the exterior. The sitting / dining area is a very decent size and light and airy with really practical and attractive flooring. The décor and furnishings are comfortable throughout as well as practical and there is an ample dining table and chairs in this area along with a smaller table which can accommodate 2 or 3 people in the kitchen overlooking the patio. The kitchen has a good range of crockery and cutlery as well as a cooker, microwave, washer dryer and a dishwasher. The shower room / wc is off the kitchen and there is a very useful large cublicle with a shower that has both a hand held / adjustable shower hose as well as one large fixed head. Upstairs there is a landing area with painted wooden floorboards which has a sofa bed along with various storage areas plus a handy table – this area is large enough for an additional bedroom if needing to use the sofa bed if required but also provides a useful spacious area. The main bedroom has a very comfortable king size bed and faces the front of the property overlooking the Green. Within the bedroom is a very tardis like wardrobe/cupboard / which provides a very decent amount of hanging space with good quality hangers as well as several deep shelves to accommodate most items of clothing and footwear etc. There is a door directly into the bathroom providing the ensuite but also with a separate door leading off the landing area to access this bathroom which houses a stylish bath with shower over, and heated towel rail etc.
The additional area reached by a ladder from the landing is a quirky but useful feature which can very comfortably accommodate 2 further guests in the single beds provided, though probably more suited to younger guests due to the partially limited height. It is a very creative use of the space and really adds interest to the property as well as the facility to utilise if a family were looking for a comfortable property for a short stay. All the flooring throughout the property is provided with an eye to being able to keep the property clean and tidy with low maintenance, but also feels very stylish and homely but with the added advantage of not having carpets that would retain dirt and therefore feel less clean & hygienic. This makes the cottage a perfect location whether there for the summer months or when less hospitable weather as there is also a log burner and underfloor heating provided. Outside - the garden is ideal for short stays with or without dogs – big enough and secure enough to let either children or in our case, the dogs outside, and private too. There’s a very useful patio area with comfortable table and chairs for dining al fresco. All in all, we were both very happy with our stay at Jasmine Cottage and would highly recommend it. I think I can also speak for the dogs in saying that they thoroughly enjoyed their stay also.
