In Feb 2010 we went to Culburra to visit a friend for a coffee and bought a house! It was rundown and multi coloured but in arguably one of the best locations on the east coast of Australia. It faces due north, has its own direct beach access onto 3 kms of pristine south coast beach and has magnificent views all the way up the coast. We did our own Grand Design project, gutting the house, adding the huge deck and fitting it out with all new furniture and appliances. We have a great photo book of the "transformation of Escape " at the house. We have also won many national and state tourism awards.
We opened for guests in Jan 2011 and since then we have hosted over 500 guest groups receiving over 99% 5-star reviews. Many of our guests are regulars coming back year after year. We get a great deal of enjoyment from providing a great guest experience. We also frequently enjoy the house with our family and friends which I think gives it that unique family ambiance which is so often mentioned in our reviews.
We are new to the delights of the South Coast and continue to be delighted by its beauty and pristine nature.
It is just as fabulous in winter as in summer with its direct north aspect the house fills with sunshine while the open fire heats the whole house at night.
We have just completed a major renovation of Escape from June to Dec 2020. We have replaced the roof, all windows and doors, replaced and extended the deck and added a Cabana for shade and entertaining, repainted inside and out, added an En suite bathroom to the main bedroom and replaced most of the furniture. It looks terrific!
