The home is quaint and small and located well by several restuarants and shops within walking distance. However, once I "booked" this on VRBO, then I got the pre-approval email from Roberta, the owner. I've rented numerous times thru VRBO and never experienced this. She wanted to know why I was coming into town. I answered, but it was definitely invasive to me but decided to keep the booking. The day before we were to arrive, Roberta wanted to meet me at the house to give me the key. She said she likes to meet all of her guests. That really was over the top for me. I wasn't interested in meeting the owner of the house. We're mature adults that had a trip planned, not a party. She reluctantly gave me a code number to the key once I explained I've rented before on VRBO and did not have this experience. This home is set up like a bed and breakfast feel without any breakfast. She wrote a nice note for our arrival and has a big book of things not to do in the house. She told me she lived 3 blocks away and after all I experienced, I assumed she would be driving by (or coming over!).Upon leaving, I was sent a bill for extra guests she assumed stayed at the house because an extra bed was used and we had more towels used than expected. I was a bit thrown by this and after having to explain more to Roberta, she deleted the bill. The home is fine, but the whole experience was WAY more rigid and intense than need be. She requires a deposit for two nights that is more 2/3 of the total cost. I would not have rented had I known I was going to have this experience. It was very uncomfortable. Note: Front door does NOT have a door knob!
