Some may enjoy the convenience of a resort with plentiful shops and eateries but if you're looking to seriously relax for vacation go off-grid. It gives you an opportunity to unwind, disconnect, and just enjoy the relationships with your family and friends. The teens didn't even complain about not having mobile or wifi!
Just a few minutes down a gravel road into Bridger-Teton National Forest you'll find this lovely, equipped cabin on lower Slide Lake. Within eye shot is a little bridge with water from the lake feeding a relaxing sound into the white water section of Gros Ventre River.
The owners are super nice and accommodating. Six of us stayed for three nights during our explorations and hiking of the Tetons. It's just a 20 minute car ride from the cabin to Moose Junction where you can find some groceries and 40-45 minutes to some of the best easy-to-moderate hiking the Tetons have to offer. While we were there for the Tetons as most may be, some of us would have been perfectly happy enjoying Slide Lake. We spotted a moose on the far side of the lake our first evening!
Our 2015 Sienna navigated the gravel roads just fine for this early summer vacation. The owners had provided everything we needed from clean linens, an equipped kitchen with a dish washer and coffee maker, grill with propane, to a washer and dryer. The temps at night were perfect for an open-window sleep. If we had to pick something to change it would have been light-blocking curtains for those that like to sleep in but the view from the master bedroom overlooking the lake was really too enticing to sleep anyway and the porch was perfect for a peaceful, early morning cup of coffee. We highly recommend Budges' Slide Lake Cabins!
