Excellent Villa

This beautiful Villa was exactly as described and pictured. We visited for three nights as part of a three week holiday with our extended family comprised of six adults and four children aged 12, 10, 8 and 4. The villa was spacious and clean and the swimming pool was fully enjoyed as were the various lovely outdoor sitting areas. A variety of great restaurants are in close proximity as are beautiful beaches. Would definitely return and would stay for much longer the next time!

Wow Villa

This is a super Villa, coming through the private driveway, there is an immediate WOW. You come into a beautiful large landscaped gardens surrounding the pool. (Gated railings for added security for children and piece of mind for the parents) Several furnished terraces for relaxing and reading, a lovely breakfast patio adjacent to the kitchen. This we found a wonderful convenient amenity. Upstairs there is a fabulous private terrace with amazing mountain and sea views. Sitting here in the evening watching the spectacular sunsets is simply breath-taking. Everything one could possibly want is here in this villa. Very comfortable lounge and bedrooms modernized refurbished bathrooms.The villa has shuttered doors and winows and is very secure. Even the maid who comes in every morning from monday to friday is a delight. We spent 2 weeks here with extended family and we simply loved it. We are coming back to the Villa again in March. We swould highly recomment it, perfect for young and old. The Villa is a nice walk to the village, several restaurants on the way down the hill, we loved 'Vimar', lovely food and very reasonable. There is a recent development of a boardwalk on the cliff overlooking the sea. Carvoeiro square is a lovely meeting place with lovely restaurants and cafes along its streets. Great to sit down and relax. Can't think of a nicer place for a family holiday.

Great villa in a great town!

We stayed as a large family (10 people, three generations) in late May 2014. Booking the property was easy, the owner sent an informations pack in advance and responded to email requests about car hire and best route to Carvoiero etc within 24-48hrs. In Portugal, there is a representative who pops around twice in the week - although we had no real issues to discuss. The heated pool is a treat - and for those with very young children, it is secure enough. My three year, 6 month lad could open the gates (but knew not to) - but I note there were locks so this could be easily resolved for younger children. The Villa is a good 20 min walk into a great little town. Great Bars (particularly Club Havanna - lovely cocktails), great restaurants (reccommend Oasis and Taste, particularly Taste), great beach and great icecream places. Short car rides take you to a large supermarket and the waterpark (a must do - and prices reasonable once inside). Medium length (within 30 mins) trips to Alvor (a must...we had an amazing lunch of grilled sardines, wine etc for 10 for 88 euros!! followed by a boat trip out to the coves) and Silves reccommended, Carvoiero is a bit further down the Algarve - and as none of us had been to the Algarve before we were initially reluctant to go so far down the coast from Faro. Dispell this immediately - it is a 40 min drive away on the toll road (and cars are preloaded with a fixed 20 euros anyway - more than enought for trips back and forth) - and is so different from Villamoura or Albufeira. I would highly reccommend this Villa to anyone.

Villa Casa Da Tara - May 2013

Marie the owner was excellent to deal with when booking the villa, it's just as described, WIFI was useful for many of us! It's perfectly situated 15 min walk to the beach, 10 mins to centre. Well maintained and clean, maids and pool cleaning guy were cheery. Heated pool was great, well worth the extra if taking small children. 5 mins by car to the Intermarche (supermarket), water park slide and splash is not too far away either 15 mins in car. Thanks, from a very happy bunch!

A spacious gem in a tranquil setting

Having just spent a fortnight at Casa Da Tara with our two daughters and their families (11 in total) it may be helpful to others to share our experience.Without exception all of us thought the villa was absolutely wonderful with spacious grounds,a peaceful setting and a lovely pool with lots of chairs and umbrellas. The villa itself is extremely spacious and kept spotlessly clean by the maid Julietta who has a 5 day rota.The local manager Lloyd was extremely helpful and lives along the road. The location I would suggest requires a car as Carvoeiro is a fair walk particularly with young children and it is of course uphill coming home. We found the beach at Vale de Centianes the easiest to access and park and it is 5 mins drive. Our favourite restaurant was The Palmyra which is on the road down to the town from the villa.The dish called Shellfish rice is stunning. Last but not least I must make mention of the owner Marie Gannon who from the first enquiry up to our date of departure could not have been more helpful. We had a wonderful family holiday at Casa Da Tara and I would return tomorrow if it was not fully booked!

Just what we wanted - a great holiday

We had 3 couples with 5 children in our party.Staying at villa Tara for a week in september 2010 and had a wonderful time. We know the coast and particularly this area well & chose the villa from literally 100's of others we had reviewed and were not disappointed. A very easy 15 minute stroll (some roadside without pavements) into Carvoeira or cliff top walk. A very charming villa in lovely grounds, not overlooked and a feeling of space. More than ample parking gor our 4 cars. The local intermarche is 2 minutes drive down the road. Great locality for exploring the coast, beautiful beaches and towns. With 5 children under 4 it was important we got the right place. The descriptions are accurate and Marie was extremely helpful in answering our various questions before we went. We paid extra for heating pool & even though weather was quite hot we all agreed this was money well spent. The villa was very clean and nicely furnished with typical portugese furnishing and lots of little extras which help make a basic place more comfortable and homely. There are 3 different areas to eat round a table as a group which was great. The tiled steps from the top bedroom to the next level down are quite steep especially for young children or elderly. We would consider returning to villa Tara and happily recommend it to similar family groups with young children but would also be good place for 4-5 couiples sharing.

Family Holiday

What a wonderful time we had staying in this very desirable villa stayed June 2009 everything was perfect the owner very helpful and the manager too. The villa was very spacious, clean and well equiped, there is the advantage of a daily maid service and the pool is also cleaned regularly. The villa is situated only a short walk from the town center. We are returning and staying august 2010, a credit to the owner

3 families and 10 people

We had a lovely stay at Casa da Tara for 14 days. We were 3 families (6 adults and 4 children at age 10-12 years). An easy walk of 20 minutes brings you to the centre of Carvoeiro and the beach. There are several other beaches within 10 minutes drive which are more spectacular than Carvoeiro. (Albandheiro and Marinha). We dined a lot at a local restaurant "Estrella de Mar", which had good food and friendly service at reasonable prices. We had trouble with one of the bathrooms, but Lloyd, the house manager, did a remarkable good job together with a local plumber. And after 24 hours everything was fixed. All the bedrooms are spacious. The property is elevated with a good view in 180 degree (At least from the top terrace). Centre of Carvoeiro is bit too touristic for our taste, but still kind of OK. On the other hand, everyone speaks fairly good English. I can certainly recommend this property.

Just like home

We were three families from Swede staying here in the beginning om september. The weather was fantastic and the pool area well used. One common thing for this property - everything is much bigger and nicer than both the images and text tells you. Its just a fantastic place! Carvoeiro is a steep village so a car could be in use, even if there's no problem walking to town. But with small kids and grandparents... We enjoyed our staying at Casa da Tara so much! It was really our home for a week and we didn't want to leave.
