The main entrance gate must be kept closed at all times for privacy.
Our 4 friendly donkeys also enjoy a stroll on the beach, so please fasten gates. They are vegetarian and please be mindful feeding strange animals.
As we are lakeside, flies are attracted to the lights in the summer evenings, so please be mindful to close windows and doors when lights are on .

Wonderful place to be based for a trip to Ireland. Loved the private beach, the views of the lake, fishing on the lake, and of course the donkeys! Enjoyed lots of days out around Mayo and Sligo. Mary was a lovely host! Highly recommend the venue as place to enjoy in and of its self as well as base to go exploring!

My family and I stayed here for 2 nights to be close to our family in Bahola. The property was so beautiful. It's exactly as it looks in the photos. The views of the lake were beautiful. The jacuzzi and sauna were great perks. It was a great rest stop of tranquility in the middle of our epic trip throughout Ireland.

The location and the property were both superb... Mary the owner ought to be cloned for every B&B. She was THE BEST....loved our interactions with her. This is a place to be highly recommended and it comes with resident donkeys. One could not ask for more. Warmer and sunnier, maybe. But hey, it's Ireland! We did have some sun!

A place to relax

The property was amazing and the view is so incredibly beautiful. Rain or shine, it doesn't matter when you are staying at this beautiful property. We thoroughly enjoyed our stay, and we even got to feed the donkeys!

Herrlicher Blick auf den See/ sehr ruhig/ Zimmer groß und schöne Sitzgelegenheit in und vor den Raümen Leider in den Zimmern muffliger Geruch , der auch mit Dauerlüften nicht verschwand!

Beautiful lakeside stay

We had a great time staying in the lakehouse. We were looking for somewhere we could bring our kayaks and have direct access to the lake/lough and this was the perfect location. The house is very nice and we enjoyed the sauna and hot tub. We also liked having access to the beach area and the presence of the donkeys was a bonus too. Mary is a lovely host and we couldn't have asked for more.

Couldn’t have been better.

Our family of 4 spent 6 nights at this lovely place and had a great time. Good location - we were able to explore the area (Balleek Forest, Westport, WAW coast) but you would need a car. The house way wonderful - lots of space and super comfy beds. My kids didn’t want to leave - swing sets, hot tub, beach, and donkeys - what more could they ask for.

Idyllic Irish Beauty

The property was stunning including, beach, forest walk, views of the lake and the sweetest donkeys!! The host, Mary, has thought of everything! Every room with an ensuite, hot tub, outdoor patio, even a sauna. If you’re travelling to the West of Ireland, don’t miss the opportunity to stay here!

A hidden gem

We arrived in Pontoon at our apartment overlooking the lake in a rain and wind storm . The forecast was bleak and as we had young children with us were worried that our two week stay would be marred by weather. We needn’t have worried however as the property had everything we needed to enjoy a family gathering in the most beautiful location right on Lake Conn . The weather broke enough for us to be able to swim off the Dock almost daily and the younger children enjoyed swimming and playing on the private beach which was only steps away .. It also proved to be an ideal location from which to take day time fishing trips and excursions to other areas such as Achill and having golfers in the group who played locally in Ballina and also the incredible course at Enniscrone . Mary is a delightful host and was never too busy to answer any questions we had and her recommendations were really helpful. The donkeys w are permanent residents on the land and part of the family ! The children were smitten. They were also smitten by the hot tub and the sauna which were a welcome treat after a bracing swim in the lake . The apartment which feels more like a house, was very comfortable and suited our needs perfectly . The views and sunsets can be seen from the large lake facing windows of the living room and while the weather didn’t exactly permit alfresco dining , we were still able to enjoy looking the lake while eating inside. Ten out of Ten for a family holiday ..

Great family holiday at Pontoon

We stayed with Mary at Pontoon for 7 nights. Family of 5 with 3 young kids. The kids loved feeding the friendly donkeys every day and playing on the beach. We went paddle boarding and also rented a rowing boat to explore the lake and islands. Mary was very welcoming and attended to our every need. I would highly recommend Pontoon for any family with young kids looking for a safe environment with loads to keep the kids happy. It's also a great base to explore the rest of Mayo, a beautiful part of the country.
