Great family escape from the city

The property is wonderful for a group or family getaway where you want to get off the grid and relax! Even in the heat of summer, the house was able to stay quite cool. Many thanks!

Grathawai - Amazing, relaxing, fun

From the moment I confirmed our booking at Grathawai, Melissa and Colin Smith (owners of this gorgeous property) went above and beyond. They recommended things to do and see and the house has to be the most well equipped property I've ever stayed at. It has everything, Melissa and Colin have thought of everything. Our group was large with children and babies and the property was perfect. The location was divine and although there is no internet or mobile phone coverage we didn't miss it. Instead we enjoyed getting back to nature, playing with our children and watching them play. I would definitely recommend booking a stay at Grathawai, you will not regret it. We are already planning our next stay! Thank you to Melissa and Colin.

Lovely property. Perfect for a laidback family celebration

As others have said the pictures don’t do this property justice. Lovely large spaces both indoors and out. Very well equipped especially the kitchen, bar and library. Party room is perfect for the kids, who all had a ball. Perfect place to unwind.

Beautiful property

This was our 3rd time coming to Grathawai, and it didn't disappoint. It's such a great size for our group of 6 adults and 6 children. The kitchen is really well set up and the rooms are all comfortable. Would definitely recommend this property

Grathawai - like a second home

This year was the 2nd time we stayed at Grathawai, with the same group of people. We returned because we fell in love with the property and area the 1st time we stayed. The house is lovely,caters for your every need and the owners Colin & Melissa go above and beyond with communication and advice & tips. We are already planning our stay next year!

Exceeded Our Expectations

Brilliant stay at Grathawai Homestead. Great area with heaps of stuff to do and a beautiful property that exceeded our expectations, the photos and descriptions understandably struggle to capture the majesty of the property. A perfect venue to host a family birthday celebration with 4 generations in attendance.

Wonderful location with a couple of Alpacas

Large and warm with lots of fireplaces with ample wood, supplemented with like heaters. Will definitely be returning.

Great group getaway

This was our second time staying at Grathawai, the entire group voted to return and we may well come again next year! The Property is lovely and perfectly suited for our group of 6 adults and 6 kids. The kitchen is well stocked, the rooms are all very comfortable and the location is beautiful. Definitely recommended

Great place for a relaxing family stay!

Grathawai Homestead is an excellent property with plenty of room for the whole (extended) family. Our group of 6 adults and 4 kids had plenty of room to play, lounge, eat, and relax. The kids can all bunk down in the 1 room (large enough for 6-7 kids - like a sleepover!), and there's plenty of rooms left for the adults. The kitchen and dining area is enormous, and very well appointed - great for a long lunch - and Taralga is just 15mins drive away. The hosts were very attentive, replying to any questions etc. within hours, and our stay was just great. Highly recommended for any large groups who are looking for a nice relaxing country stay, in a great house with beautiful gardens. Thanks for a great stay!

Family get-together/70th birthday

We had a wonderful, memorable time at Grathawai. The large kitchen & dining area was the perfect space for everyone to gather. We loved the big sunroom, the deck and the outside firepit. We used every bit of the house and it was perfect for 3 generations. Thankyou to Melissa and Colin.

Family get together

Lovely house, lovely stay. Comfortably slept 5 adults and 7 kids and had plenty to keep everyone occupied. Would definitely stay again and would highly recommend.

A wonderful retreat for a large group with so much space.

In total there were six adults and three children who loved the long weekend stay to celebrate my wife's big 70. There was so much room both inside and out with lovely touches in the furnishings and decor. Great for any style of getogether and plenty of accomdation and facilities including games/toys/sporting equipment for both adults and children and cooking equipment for the chefs in the party!! I personally loved the mammoth sunroom that had a very well equipped bar including large fridge and wood burning firestove. The homemade jams and relishes were excellent and we bought a supply to take back to Sydney!! Thanks for making your lovely property available for rent as a holiday stay.

Excellent communication and lovely property

The owner's communication about the property was detailed, thorough and so helpful. Every interaction has been easy and the owner is generous with her time, always responding very quickly. It's a beautiful old property with lots of character and was perfect for our gathering of families. Plenty of firewood to keep us warm when it was below zero outside. Heaters and extra blankets were also supplied. We were all very happy.

Lovely long weekend

We had a wonderful time on the weekend - loved roaming around the property and sitting by the fires. The house was very well equipped and easily accommodated 10 of us - and would have taken more. The only thing that we needed more of was firewood as it was Chilly! We stumbled across The Argyle Inn - a wonderful find in Taralga for a long lunch with children around the well. Would love to come back.

Wonderful house

We very much enjoyed our stay at Grathawai Homestead. We had 6 adults and 6 children and the house was perfect for our group. The house was very spacious, the rooms were comfortable and the kitchen had everything we could have ever needed. We would definitely recommend this property.

Perfect in every way

Fabulous country getaway

Our 3 families had a wonderful experience at Gathawai, we enjoyed a peaceful getaway from our busy hectic city lives. Kids never complained once that they were bored or had nothing to do even without their electronic devices. They enjoyed bike riding around the house, playing cards and exploring the garden and surrounds.A great place to relax, reboot and for us to enjoy the company of friends chatting and enjoying beverages by the beautiful fireplaces. We hope to be back soon.

Absolutely Brilliant

We were a group of three families (6 adults & 8 children) who thoroughly enjoyed 3 nights at Grathawai. It was so refreshing to unplug from the 21st century and reconnect with friends and family in a comfortable and well-appointed setting. The property had everything you need to keep the kids, and kid-like adults entertained. We all highly recommend this homestead to anyone looking for a rural retreat where you can relax and enjoy the picturesque countryside. No one wanted to leave and return to hustle of city life, we are sure to all return again & again!

Beautiful!

Such a beautiful house on a great property! Our group had a brilliant time here; it was a large house with lots of room to stretch out but it was thoughtful decorated and felt very homely. The house managers were incredibly helpful throughout our stay, especially as we wanted to make a short notice booking, and made sure we had everything we needed. Would highly recommend Grathawai!

Absolutely beautiful!

Grathawai! One word. WOW. It was breathtaking. From the moment you drive through the gates you felt relaxed. It had everything you needed and more! The house managers were more then helpful, which helped make the stay even more enjoyable. Definitely recommend the walk up the hill to watch the sun set, breath in the country air and look at the horses and kangaroos. Lots of space for everyone! Definitely on my places to return too!

Better than we expected !

Wow what a place to kick back and enjoy a holiday..... The Homestead is huge and comfortable...... The photos really don't do the place justice as it is very tastefully furnished with lots of space to get lost in to read a book. The gardens and the grounds are a credit to the owner. We will be back !!

Perfect escape

Our family and two others had the perfect escape to Grathawai on the Easter Weekend.We absolutely loved the charm and atmosphere of this beautiful homestead which catered to all our needs.The children loved being outdoors the whole time while the adults enjoyed relaxing inside or on the beautiful verandah.Retreating to the generous lounge room with the fire was also very special.We felt very relaxed and rejuvinated after our stay.Cooking on the AGA stove was also a highlight.We would all love to return some day soon.
