We loved the place. Perfect for family of four. Walking to parks, beach, food etcWe live the open concept and everything we needed was there. Kindly there was fruit, cheese and crackers for us which we enjoyed. Fantastic value, and perfect for us.

Hidden Gem

Our stay was truly wonderful. We previously lived in the area and were visiting to see friends, beaches and explore some new areas. The location is fairly walkable given the necessity for a car generally in HMB. The apartment had everything we could possibly need and the host was unbelievable responsive and even providing some items when we needed it on short notice. I can't recommend this place any more.

We Had A Lovely Time Here!

Mary-Anne, our host, was wonderful. Incredibly thoughtful and generous. The unit was incredibly sweet and had everything we needed. A full kitchen, a great shower, comfy beds & pillows, too! It was also in a great location and close to the ocean. Looking forward to our next stay. This will definitely be our first choice. Highly recommend staying here!

Excellent location & place to stay

The hostess is so responsive. You are welcomed with wine & treats, coffee & cream. The home is 3.5 mile walk to Half Moon Bay & opposite direction 1.5 mile walk to harbor. Great restaurants both areas. I will definitely plan to return here. Very safe area. Hostess provides great resources for restaurants, hiking trails, breweries & winery. Enjoy a stay in this home.

El Granada Gem

An excellent choice for our trip. The unit is roomy, clean and welcoming. Every detail was taken care of to make us comfortable, including treats, lovely linens, separate heat controls for each room, and, my favorite, a beautiful coffee station to wake up to. The owner couldn’t be nicer and we hope to make a return visit one day.

A great stay!

The house was perfect for our group of 4. Mary-Anne suggested fun hikes and restaurants for us to try which helped our planning a lot. We cooked several meals and found everything we needed. Overall it was a great stay.

Clean and homey

This was such a cute place to stay for a girls' weekend! It was just the right amount of space, clean, bright and airy, recently remodeled in the kitchen, well-stocked, a quick drive to many points of interest, and walkable distance to the beach. The host was welcoming and responsive to our needs, quickly reachable by text, and provided suggestions and tips based on what I was looking for. She provided random little things that I asked for, like a white noise machine, a steamer, and suggested places to watch the sunset from. Having double sinks in the bathroom was also really helpful for our group! Note that one of the beds is a little soft so it depends on your preference--one person thought it was very comfortable while another preferred a firmer mattress. Also note that the couch in the living room is now white instead of black like the picture might show, which ties better into the bright and airy aesthetic of the rest of the place. Heads up that the listing still needs to be updated as of August 2024. It now sleeps 4 and the host can provide an air mattress for another.

Wonderful stay!

We spent 4 days visiting the San Francisco area (including San Jose and Santa Cruz). This home was perfectly located so we never drove too far each day. It was recently remodeled and is beautiful in and out. It is walking distance to the beach too! The owner provided recommendations for sightseeing and meals - all were excellent. Highly recommend this place!!!!

A Nice Coastal Respite

My family and I had a wonderful stay at Mary-Anne's place. It was very clean and quite large for a two bedroom VRBO. We cooked in a couple nights and the large kitchen had everything we needed including an amazing full-wood butcher-block island. My kids and I had fun playing ping-pong in the backyard our first morning. This property is close to many things Half-Moon Bay and quick access to the HWY without being so close that you can hear the traffic. We could not hear it at all, which was nice and peaceful. We'll definitely consider coming back for a future coastal vacation!

Great Time in El Granada

We had a great stay. The rooms were clean, the house was well maintained and the owners (Mary-Anne and Brian) were very responsive. If you are looking for a quiet, well kept house, with access to the Bay Area, this is the place. The price point was hundreds less than local area hotels and other rentals. I could not recommend this place more highly!

Great place! Huge! Loved the kitchen! Also had every kitchen utensil we needed! Within walking distance to the ocean! Owners were extremely nice and accommodating! Nice to stay out of the city but still be close enough! Will definitely stay here every time we visit San Francisco!

Lovely place

This is a lovely place just a few minutes walk from the beach and easy access to many things in the area. We loved driving down the coast on Highway 1 and took some amazing pictures. Mary-Anne was very helpful in providing information about the area and responded quickly to all our inquiries. There is also loads of information in the place for you to plan your stay and places to visit. We would definitely stay here again.

Very Nice

Overall we enjoyed our stay. Very spacious apartment, close to amenities. We were expecting a welcome basket with wine and cheese as the advert stated but did not receive it. As others have stated the walls are thin and there is noise from the upstairs and surrounding area, if you’re a light sleeper I wouldn’t recommend it. But the beautiful home and spacious rooms make up for the minor issues. The beds are very cozy.

Great option in HMB

Although a little deep in the neighborhood it is a convenient location. Can walk to beach but no other amenities. Very quiet. Owners are on site but very respectful. Only ran in to them once while they were watering garden. I went with my bff and will be bringing back my husband even though we won't need extra bedroom will still stay there. Very large unit. We were very comfortable. Unit fully equipped.. We cooked the whole time and weren't missing anything.

My husband, two children and I have lived in the Half Moon Bay area for 25 years and in El Granada for 20 years. We can't imagine living anywhere else - the community is very friendly and quiet and the local natural beauty outstanding. I enjoy walking by the ocean daily and witnessing the variety it offers - sunny, calm and peaceful to windswept and stormy. I see wildlife every day - a variety of birds, sea lions, seals, dolphins and even whales can all be sighted regularly from the Surfers Beach area. In addition, we enjoy kayaking in the harbor area, biking along the coastal trail and hiking at the Purissima Creek Redwoods only 15 minutes away. We also enjoy the cultural offerings of our community as well - there is a local theater which offers productions throughout the year, the cafes and bars have a variety of live music every weekend as well as during the week and there are local art offerings such as the annual Pumpkin Festival as well as a number of local galleries. We are fortunate to be near a number of tasty restaurants offering a variety of cuisines - Indian, Seafood, Italian, Thai, Mexican, Japanese, Chinese, Nepali as well as many cafes and bakeries.

If we feel like venturing a bit further abroad, we are only 40 minutes from San Francisco and less than an hour from San Jose where ballet, opera, a myriad of museums, street fairs, festivals, etc await us.

Although we thoroughly enjoy our home here by the sea, we also love to travel even further abroad. I have lived in New York and London and have traveled throughout the United States, the British Isles, France and Italy as well as Cyprus, Costa Rica, Nepal, Asia, Australia, New Zealand and the South Pacific. For me one of the greatest pleasures of traveling is meeting people from different places and cultures and we look forward to hosting guests in our VRBO from near and far.
