Great house

The house was great well stocked. Comfortable beds great kitchen did some cooking, had everything I needed. Plenty of beach chairs and beach toys no need to bring any of your own, great porch and furniture and lots of conversational spaces. As far as the walk to the beach, definitely too far for kids and strollers and beach equipment. We did drive found plenty of public parking. But not too far for adults. Having the two outdoor showers was so convenient, house was comfortable and very clean.

I would definitely go to A Counting Waves again. Beautiful property, well maintained with great amenities. Very kid friendly and an excellent location close to restaurants and the beach.

Nice Little House

The house was great, in a queit area just a couple walking blocks from the beach. The sand pit was great for the kids as it was pretty windy on the beach one day. Communication with the owner was very good and she was responsive to questions. Definitely recommend!

Excellent stay!

We wanted to share our beautiful Outer Banks with visiting friends. This home offered everything we needed for a wonderful stay. We did need to provide our own sheets and towels, but not a problem. There were even spices for use in cooking our meals, and groceries and restaurants nearby. I had a couple of questions and the owner texted back almost immediately. Thanks for a lovely 3-day stay.

Absolutely wonderful beach experience!

I must say that this is probably the nicest cottage we have ever stayed at! It is beautifully decorated and spotless! Plenty of room for 8 people. Despite being located behind a restaurant, the neighborhood is quiet and there is no issue with seafood odors! We will definitely be planning to stay here again! Thanks!

Perfect for our family and my parents!

The property is within walking distance to public beach access. It was clean and well supplied with everything we needed to make our meals. They also provided plenty of beach supplies like chairs, umbrella and boogie boards. The sand boxes under the house provided awesome entertainment for our kiddos while we cooked. Overall great property and great experience. Thank you to the property managers and owners!!

Great House

We were very pleased with this home. It was really well stocked and designed with attention to detail. Even the area under the house is immaculate...great area for kids to play in sandbox, swings ,has clean outdoor showers, well kept landscaping also. We were a bit concerned about the house being located behind a seafood restaurant ,but this was not an issue...at all. No "fishy" restaurant odor, no extra noise or traffic. Would definitely stay here again !

Our first time to the OBX

The house was nice! Good location easy access to the beach..couple things that could be fixed but just minor cosmetic things, ( cupboard knobs are loose). The bed in the bedroom next to the one with the bunk beds is not very comfortable and very squeaky..a little more seating in the living room to accommodate the amount of people the house can sleep and maybe a reclining piece..otherwise super cozy and would definitely stay here again!

OBX stay

Stay is good. It is very near to beaches, food, groceries and Wright brothers memorial. The only issue we faced is the dish washer. Water came out with soap after 5mins of switching on the dish washer (we used what they have provided if that matters). Need to clean up the living room which we didn't expect at all. Apart from that no other complaints.

Sunlit Home Near Everything!

Celebrating Memorial Day, and my husband’s birthday, we stayed at this sunlit house and enjoyed the location - walking distance to the beach and restaurants. The huge deck gave us space to chill. The beach themed decorations added to the charm. The house was organized and had all of the kitchen supplies we needed. We only used one room. The main bed was comfortable. The WiFi needs a definite upgrade. We were working from here and that was a challenge. Overall we highly recommend choosing this home!

Stay in Kill Devil Hills

We enjoyed our stay recently at this property. It is conveniently located to allow site seeing around the outer banks. The neighborhood is safe and the home has some great decking for outside seating! There are many historical sites within an hour or less and all are easy to get to. The house was great, but a couple of things would have made it most accommodating. It would have been nice to have dish towels and rags on hand and garbage bags. Also, more attention to detail with cleaning could be improved on. Overall, we liked the location and our stay!

Needs a good thorough cleaning.

Overall the stay was nice, however the home needs a good deep cleaning. There was cobwebs on the chandelier, food stains on the comforters and pillows, food in the chair in the living room, hair and pee stains on the mattress in the second bedroom, broken laundry room doors, dishwasher looked like it had slaw in it and had to be cleaned and sanitized before use, dishes were gross and dirty. No linens are provided (sheets, pillowcases, comforters, towels, etc.).

Ok for our first trip to the OBX

The house is a nice size, well equipped kitchen. A few things I didn’t care for were the king bed in the second bedroom is noisy and not very comfortable. To me it didn’t look like it had been cleaned before we got there, disappointed by that, black mold in both showers, dust on both toilets, dirty floors all around the baseboards. It’s fairly close to the main road and can hear road noise, can’t see the ocean or even hear it from the house.

Great home to make family memories in

This house was great but could use a good deep cleaning (the chandeliers had cobwebs and the dishes and dishwasher was dirty, laundry room door was broken...) That however was not a deal breaker to want to stay longer, just somethings that needs fixed or better done. I do suggest that the homeowners start washing the bed comforters and pillow cases, because they was dirty also but since we had to provide our own linens we brought everything and thankfully didn't have to use what was there. We loved the sandbox under the house, not only did my 3 year old love it but so did my 6 and 13 year old! The home overall was great and with some of the fixes I would return again!

Overall a good stay

We stayed for almost a week. The house was decorated beautifully and the deck and downstairs area under the house were great! The deck and downstairs were the best parts. I was surprised to find that no linens were provided and even more surprised after a two day drive to find no toilet paper or trash bags in the house. The owner had told me that we needed to provide our own linens, so we were prepared for that. There was no mention of the lack of basic supplies like toilet paper and trash bags in the listing or in any emails prior to our visit. I was disappointed., but had we known, we could have easily brought some. The house could use a good cleaning and some maintenance. I emailed the owner and she stated that the house was not a hotel (about the supplies) and that she would be there soon to work on the maintenance issues (several light bulbs out and a few other things). She also said she would follow up with the cleaning crew. Overall, we had a good stay. The beach access was a relatively quick walk and easy to find. The house was sunny and bright.

Overall very good stay

We had a great long weekend stay at this house. Our overall experience was very positive and summarized below: Few cons: -The "crows nest" that is mentioned in the listing was non-existent. I believe it used to be over the picnic table on the deck, but is no longer there. This was pretty disappointing as we were looking forward to the "ocean views". I think the listing should be updated to better inform future renters. -The fees are a bit deceiving. The listing clearly states the rates include "the cleaning at the end of your stay", however we were charged a $100 cleaning fee in addition to the nightly rate. Once again, future renters should be notified of this. Pros: -Beautiful house. The inside was clean and comfortable. Loved all the decorations - it felt very much like a home and not just a rental property. Underneath the house was a pleasant surprise! We enjoyed hanging out in the hammock and swing while my daughter played in the sand boxes. With 2 outdoor (private) showers, it made clean-up a breeze! -Location is great. Easy drive or walk to the beach and several restaurants. -Very convenient to have the beach chairs and a few beach toys to take with us so we didn't have to purchase any. Many thanks for that! Summary - we would definitely stay here again. I think the listing should be updated to reflect the lack of a crows nest and the cleaning fee.
