Sunbirds Chobe Villa was built by Mrs Boammaaruri Merrigan, a female citizen of Botswana, known in the community over many years as Mma Ledombi. She started working in tourism in Maun at Crocodile Camp, before moving to Kasane in 1998 as the Office Manager for Into Africa Safaris.
She fell in love with the region together with her husband and they honeymooned here in 2005 and acquired the land shortly afterward. After the wall was built around the property in 2014, the garden was free to grow without harrasment from the elephants, and Mma Ledombi is a passionate gardener who even handplanted the lawn you see at the Villa today

This is the largest property in Chobe at 300m2 and sits in an amazing garden oasis. Being able to sit on your private balcony and watch elephants walk back and forth from the river is priceless. It is a bird watchers paradise - bird lovers do not even need to leave the property to tick off a large number of birds from their lists, including rare specials in Southern Africa like the Collared Palm Thrush, Trumpeter Hornbill and Shelly's Sunbird. There is nothing like dining by the pool and hearing lions roaring in the distance!
