Yes the house is lovely, with a good layout for a large group. It is carefully presented with good quality furniture, all original artworks and studio pottery. It is provided with airdried, quality towels and bed linen. Online photos clearly show what the house is like inside. The fridge is a new side by side fridge freezer, it is properly installed and the floor is level. The door seal is likewise fit for purpose. We are extremely fussy about cleanliness, the whole house is cleaned top to bottom between stays. Beds are always pulled out and vacuumed behind. The houses are in a rural location so are sprayed annually for ants, spiders and insects etc. I was called over to deal to what was described as an ant infestation and a request for all the bedlinen to be changed. I inspected the room and was surprised to discover the daughter and her boyfriend had shifted all the furniture round to make a super king bed out of the pair of twin king singles. In doing so they had marked the walls and scratched the floor. An ant was found on the floor. It was dealt to . It was agreed that changing all the bed linen was probably not reasonable. I concur with her assessment of her daughter. The house is rural, it is on tank water, notices are put in the bathrooms to remind guests of the need to conserve water as it could run out during their stay if they are not thoughtful about how much water they are using. It costs $300 to have a tanker deliver and refill the tank. Checkout has always been at 10am. The guest handbook states this quite clearly. As we frequently have back to back stays we need time to change all the linen, launder it and clean the house before the next guests check in. Most guests are considerate and leave the house in a tidy state, put their dishes through the dishwasher and put their rubbish in the bins provided. The guests omitted to put the key in the locksafe when they went out , as is recommend to all guests . The daughter unfortunately took the key, others were locked out, luckily we were home that evening and able to let them in. Use of the spa is specifically by guest request. The guests made very good use of the spa. It is sited in the garden, the spa is sited so is not overlooked by our house. Its outlook was specifically chosen for the magnificent western views of the Ruahine Ranges and the superb night skies in this region which are not visible from the Blackhouse.
