Great house and in such a picturesque location. Did not disappoint. Breakfast provisions were a lovely bonus. Only request would be a pair of kitchen scissors but everything was great otherwise. The children enjoyed climbing the hill and seeing the sheep.Would recommend!

Cosy stay in heritage cottage

Lovely old cottage beautifully renovated. We appreciated having two bathrooms which is not easy to find. We would have liked to meet up with the hosts to say hello.

Sir Walter's Cottage is the ultimate in comfort, style and relaxation. Circa 1845 on the outside and luxuriously 2026 on the inside. Every conceivable convenience has been thoughtfully included to ensure guests want for nothing. All of this sitting in the middle of the magnificent Hughes Park Station - a working sheep property. And yet only a few minutes drive to world class hotels and wineries for which the Clare Valley is famous for. This is truly an outstanding property which I cannot recommend highly enough. For couples, families or anyone just wanting to escape - Sir Walter's Cottage is 5 Star Perfection.

Sir Walter cottage was a delightfully historic cottage with all the mod cons.

The lack of toiletries such as body wash, shampoo and conditioner was problematic as we assumed they would be provided. Otherwise wonderful

Apologies Penelope but we do leave soap for guests. We don’t provide shampoo & conditioner as our rates are considerably lower than most B&Bs in the Valley to keep costs this way. Glad you enjoyed your stay otherwise!

Wooded beauty and comfort

The property is set in natural grazing land, spacious and beautiful…a new view from every window. The 1846 cottage has been entirely renovated and was pure heaven, peaceful days and nights seated around a potbelly with a great supply of wood. Recommended either as a retreat from rush and bustle, and or , a base for exploring the Riesling trail ( is is only a drive of a few kilometers from Clare) and the many wineries of the area. Highly recommended. Deirdre May 2022

Away from the crowds

Our home for the days we stayed in the Clare Valley was situated 5 kms out of Watervale on a family owned property. It was quiet aside from the birds….no traffic to bother us. The building dated from the mid 1880’s but had been fully renovated & was very comfortable. We will definitely stay at this address the next time we visit the Clare wine district. Highly recommended
