"Finding Marlin" is centrally located in a mostly year-round quiet residential neighborhood a short 15-minute walk, with light and crosswalk, to public beach access. We are one block from the sound side multi-use path. (Spectacular sunsets!) There are 3 restaurants, a coffee shop, and a shop with ice cream within walking or biking distance. We provided a beach cart and some chairs for your use. The house has 3 bedrooms and 3 full bathrooms. We have a large backyard with a privacy fence. The backyard features an in-ground pool and (above-ground) hot tub, outdoor shower, and firepit. The pool is open from mid-April- mid- October . Actual open and closing dates are set with the weather patterns. If you are renting in April or October, and the pool is an amenity you would want, please inquire as to the status before booking. The hot tub is available year-round.

Enjoy privacy and fun with our beautiful in-ground pool and hot tub in our fenced-in, private backyard. The hot tub is open year-round. The pool (not heated) is open from the middle of April until October sometime, depending on the weather patterns.

The loft-style 3rd floor has 1 queen bedroom and one bedroom with a "pyramid" single over double bunk bed with a shared "Jack and Jill" bathroom. There is also a reading nook with a futon on this level. Both 3rd-floor bedrooms feature balconies, and you can enjoy sunset views from the sound-facing 3rd-floor bedroom.

The second-floor living room has informal dining for 6 people in the main living room area and a sunny "Florida Room" breakfast/dining area adjacent to the fully stocked kitchen. There is 1 queen bedroom that shares access to a full bathroom with the common areas on this floor. All 3 bedrooms feature comfortable mattresses and desks/workspaces perfect for distance schooling or working from home.

The ground floor features access to the backyard and the pool, a foosball table, a full bathroom, and laundry facilities, as well as another nook with a table and stool that can serve as a 4th desk in the house for work or school needs.

In addition to the pool and hot tub, the backyard has a gas grill, a firepit, and an outdoor shower.

"Finding Marlin" is in a mostly residential/second home neighborhood with light and crosswalk to cross the main "highway" between us and the beach access. This is a very safe but busy neighborhood full of year-round residents as well as vacationers, dogs, and children. Walk and bike on the paved public, multi-use path that runs along the sound side with gazebos and public accesses.

The beach is a 15-minute walk or 8-10 minute bike ride to the nearest public beach access with light and crosswalk across the main road and lifeguard station in season. Or, better yet, rent a golf cart to use for your stay! The neighborhood is perfect for it, and you will see many residents and visitors with them. Putt-putt, go-carts, a produce stand, ice cream, a coffee shop, and several restaurants are located within walking or biking distance.

The pool opens in the middle of April and closes in October depending on forecasted temps. The hot tub is available year-round. Please let us know when booking and we will schedule service before your check-in.



TVs are smart TVs with streaming only. There is no live cable tv in the house.

We supply handsoap, dish soap, laundry detergent, trash bags, the first roll of paper towels and toilet paper in each bathroom. Guests are responsible for further paper product needs.

Please inquire or book with the ACTUAL total number of guests who will be staying at the house when booking. If the total number of guests changes at any time, please let us know so we have an accurate idea of how many people will be staying in the house.

The house is family-friendly but is not childproof. You are responsible for appropriate safety precautions for your children.

Pool and lawn service vendors are independent contractors. They provide services at their own schedule and may come on to the property (outside only) from time to time during your stay. Please do NOT lock the gate to the backyard.

If you use the grill, please clean it for the next guests before your departure. If you use a propane tank or one runs out during your stay, please let us know so we can be sure to replenish for the next guests.

We had a great family vacation here! Everything was clean, the kitchen was very well stocked with cooking utensils/dishes, and the hosts were very welcoming. My kids loved the pool and the basketball hoop was fun one afternoon too. We would recommend to others.

Wonderful!!

Everything you need for a family vacation in one place. I loved the neighborhood and how we were close to everything. The beds are very comfortable and I felt at home the whole time. The pool and hot tub were perfect. Definitely will look at staying here again.

You will not be sorry booking this property. This truly was a perfect home for a wonderful week of family time. From the kitchen nook for dinners, the round table for playing games and lastly our favorite the pool and hot tub. There was an opening the the day before we were due to leave. The owners quickly made arrangements for us to book an extra night which we were so very thankful for. Again, you will be glad you booked this property.

Great vacation home!

This home was amazing, clean and the owners were very responsive. We had wasps trying to make homes on the deck and someone was over immediately to handle it. Plenty of room for a family of 6, the pool and outdoor space is private and relaxing. My only “complaint” if you even want to call it that, is that the beaches weren’t far but there was not an easy and comfortable way to walk to them with 4 young kids as the main road is 5 busy lanes and parking was limited. Overall, this place was stunning and we would stay again.

An Amazing property with great pool!

We had an amazing stay at the Finding Marlin house. The space was great for out family and we really enjoyed the backyard. The pool and jacuzzi were perfect and really well maintained. The location was perfect for us and we loved walking along the bay in the morning. Also a quick drive to the beach. There were tons of beach stuff at the house like umbrellas, beach chairs and floats that we loved using.

Lovely Clean Home

While the weather wasn't as warm as we had hoped for our stay, this home was clean, comfortable, and nicely appointed. We enjoyed the hot tub and the firepit out back and cooked several dinners in the fully stocked kitchen. The owners were very responsive when needed and the house is well located/close to everything needed for a week's stay.

Great home near the sound

My husband I really enjoyed our stay in this home! The house was clean, beds were comfy, it had everything we needed and the neighborhood was quiet. The location was awesome, a very short walk to a nice path along the sound with a few public access locations to watch the sunset! It was close to the beach, restaurants and shops. The host was very accommodating and quick to respond. We would highly recommend this property and look forward to another visit in the future.

Great place

The house is wonderful, very clean and stocked full of games and activities. I wouldn't walk to the beach from here, you have to cross a highway to get there where the speed limit is 50 mph. It's way fine though, easier to drive with everything we wanted to take to the beach. We would definitely stay again.

Relaxing

We really enjoyed our stay at Finding Marlin. It’s located in a quiet neighborhood, close to the beach and lots of shops and restaurants. The pool was perfect to hang out in after heating up at the beach. We didn’t use the hot tub much since it was such a hot and humid week, but it was very relaxing when we did use it. Annette and Greg were great hosts. We recommend this house for your family vacation.

The amount of extras in this rental is incomparable. I’ve never had so many extra blankets, multiple baby gates to keep our 3 year old safe on the 3rd floor, multiple dressers, all the utensils, pots, pans, a plethora of spices, a pack n play, laundry and dishwasher detergent, paper towels and toilet paper (esp since our instacart was a day late!), and much more made our stay easy and stress free! We were in the pool and hottub every single day and enjoyed the multiple outdoor chairs!! It was so nice to have a place to have the kids enjoy when the riptide was a little too rough!! The house was clean and provided a wonderful place for our family to relax and spend a week in paradise together! Thank you!

So glad we found Marlin!

The house was absolutely amazing for our family. We spent hours every day relaxing at the pool. The pool/hot tub was very clean and kid friendly. It accommodated our 2, 6 and 14 year olds perfectly. House was extremely clean and well stocked with anything you would ever need. Plenty of games and rec for the kids. It was a six minute drive to public beach access in Kitty Hawk with showers, lots of parking and life guard stand. Nice walking area around the sound. Extremely quiet neighborhood. A/C works wonderfully. It's a stones throw from Food Lion, Target, tons of restaurants and gift shops. It's the absolute perfect beach home for a family get away. Will definitely book again in the future!

Just a lovely home...loved the pool and hot tub, too! I had a conversation with the pool person and he said that between each turnover, he drained the pool, cleaned it and refilled it. I just appreciated that reassurance. Another thing that was wonderful was that so much was supplied, paper products, cleaning products and trash bags. Great Job Annette!

Have everything you need!

I couldn’t believe the amount of things they had stocked up in this home for our vacation…..from the beach chairs, the beach umbrellas, outdoor kids toys, boogie boards, tons of board games, basketballs… it was a perfect vacation! We loved the corn hole boards to play after a day at the beach while lounging around the pool or hot tub! It was a cozy & very clean home! Highly recommend walking over to the sound to see the sunsets during your stay! We met Greg when we checked in and he was very nice. We used the beach access on E Herman Blvd, plenty of parking and only a 2 minute drive! Walking across the main road (Croatian highway) seemed to be a bit dangerous with our young Children so we drove to that beach access each day! Overall it was a wonderful stay! Wonderful Stay!

The home is located in a lovely community. It was quiet and peaceful our entire stay. My daughters and I took a walk on the path mentioned in the listing. It’s great if you’re like me and crave a morning walk or run. The path has public spaces along it with nice views of the water. The home itself was also wonderful of course. I’d suggest the owner replace a few small items that were showing it’s age but nothing too bad. The beds were super comfortable and the kids thoroughly enjoyed the pool and and hot tub. Which someone serviced as soon as we arrived and when we were leaving so I felt confident in the cleanliness. Home was well stocked and conveniently located to the beach, public playground, shopping, and restaurants which were all within a short drive. Overall we had a great stay and we look forward to returning!

Perfect Vacation Spot!

We hadn't gone anywhere during covid, so we were nervous about traveling with our 3 little ones. After getting vaccinated we drove 11 hours pretty last minute to this cute spot. This house was a perfectly clean and decorated beach home for us and our 3 kiddos to spend the week. It was stocked with everything we needed to spend the week. Annette was so responsive to my million questions never having been to the area. The pool was perfect even in April for our kids who are from the North. They spent the week back and forth from pool to hot tub! The location is in a quiet neighborhood - they loved the book box at the end of the street, the bike/walking path along the water and all of the fun little stops along the way. If you are considering a trip to the outer-banks this centrally located spot was great and we highly recommend. Already looking to book a trip back because we miss it already!

Wonderful October weekend in KDH

From first contact to last Annette and Greg were wonderful. Booking was easy for our long weekend with our family of 5. The house is great, lots of room and wonderful balconies from most all rooms, and a really quiet neighborhood. We really enjoyed sitting on the large back deck and watching the kids play in the pool. Pristine and spacious yard, Great pool, hot tub, fire pit, gas grill and everything worked well. House was stocked with everything we needed and lots of extras like pac n play, beach cart, beach chairs, sports gear, board games and many movies to choose from. Location was great, 1 block from the running/bike trail. We opted to drive the .5 mile to the beach and found Hayman public access with ample parking and outdoor showers to be most convenient. Only small comment we would make for the house is more kitchen towels and maybe a better coffee maker and grinder for coffee snobs like us ;). We hope to return soon!

Perfect setup for our pod

Finding Marlin is a great place to spend an OBX vacation. Located just a block off the sound, the property is convenient for both sunrises and sunsets. Check-in was a breeze, as was communication with the owners who are about as kind as you can ask for. Being a beach house, we assumed it would have the usual "it'll do" features (we have become accustomed to bringing our own kitchen knives and can openers). What a pleasant surprise to find not one but two sets of SHARP knives, cookware in excellent condition, great furniture, and cushy beds! And the pool & hot tub were in A+++ working order. We may have shouted a bit too loudly while hot tubbing it because it was at the height of the Perseids, and man, what a show! I'm honestly sitting here trying to think of anything wrong with the place, and the only thing I can think of is that it would be great to have a mini-fridge in the ground level room for easy access to cold beverages while enjoying the pool. Clearly, I'm reaching. The place is darn near perfect. We will happily stay at Finding Marlin again, if they'll have us!
