We have a large country homestead available. It boasts 5 bedrooms, formal dining room with seating for 12+ and sitting room both with open fireplaces. It has a large kitchen with informal dining for 8. It also has large gardens, a grass tennis court and pool surrounded by a working farm and citrus nursery. Very close to pouawa beach marine reserve and the tatapouri stringray feeding/tours.

Fabulous stay

Wonderful location and beautiful house. Loved feeding the chickens and collecting eggs. Picking some oranges and juicing them. Heaps of space for kids to ride bikes in the garden. Beautiful historic house. We loved our stay. Thank you 😊

Great spot for family Christmas

We stayed at the house for a wonderful family Christmas and the house,pool , tennis court and grounds were well used. We were an all adult group and while the bed / room configuration was more suitable for a mix of children and adults we managed. We all really enjoyed feeding the pig who appreciated our leftovers, and the hens - great eggs. Thanks to Louise who was a wonderful host and prepared a lovely Christmas table and tree for us. We all went home feeling very relaxed and rested.

Great summer spot to relax with family

We enjoyed our time here. The inside space was generous enough to accomodate 9 of us and our dog. The pool and tennis court was well utilised by everyone. Coming from the city, the novelty of fetching eggs from the chickens and feeding the pig will be a fun memory for the kids. It was also lovely to walk through the citrus groves. Thank you Louise and Ian for letting us enjoy your home.

Holiday at the homestead

Driving up to the house you don't really appreciate the size of the house until you walk in. We slept four adults and five children comfortably. We all loved the pool and the air conditioning. We'd easily stay again.

Pouawa House

I booked this home for 6 of our film crew who were filming in & around Tolaga Bay. They absolutely loved this home, they said it was huge which allowed space for all the camera equipment. Louise (home owner) was very helpful & accommodating.

Right mix of home comfort and idyllic

Louise and Ian welcomed us into their home, and because of their warm hospitality, my family and I had one of the loveliest Christmases we can remember. The home is large enough to sleep around 13 - we were only 8, so had plenty of space to spread around. Louise was kind enough to have the holiday table set for us, and we were able to celebrate Christmas just as though we were at a fancy party. The house has history woven into its fabric, in its photos and decor. The pool and tennis court were a welcome way to take some time off. Living on a working farm has a charm all its own and we were very lucky to get a small glimpse into it. In short, we had a large, comfortable, clean house that came with every thing a large group needs to have a comfortable holiday away from home. We will come back, if we are ever down in Gisborne again. Thank you Louise and Ian for everything!!
