A River Runs Through it is a charming A-Frame set in a totally private, wooded setting surrounded by towering trees, slabs of moss-covered granite, and the crystal- clear Index Creek running directly below. The cozy and warm interior boasts the classic “cabin in the woods” details, with river rock fireplace, cedar walls, unique stone sink, and stone surrounded clawfoot tub. The loft bedroom feels tucked away from the world with the sound of the river lulling you to sleep. French doors open to a huge deck with a sparkling clean hot tub overlooking the river where you can listen to the sounds of nature while relaxing at this truly special retreat.
A River Runs Through It has been a popular vacation destination for over 15 years, now fully managed by Tree Line Rentals- the only LOCAL full-service management in the area!

This cabin was just what we were looking for: Nestled far away from road noise, it sits on a bank among the trees next to a rushing creek with loads of privacy. It has many "just right" touches including a cozy sofa in the loft over looking the creek--perfect for reading--and a star-gazing window above the downstairs bed. The rushing creek became a thunderous one in less than 24 hours due to a PNW atmospheric river event. AMAZING to see nature transform so quickly! I personally love the sound of a raging river, but we reluctantly decided to leave that afternoon due to an extended power outage and rising waters which triggered a flood warning. The host was very responsive to our questions and concerns through text. They also reimbursed our lost night. We will definitely return to pick up where we left off!

Just FYI there is no shower. It would be very easy to add one, not sure why they chose to only have a tub. The water pressure in the tub is very low, making the bathing experience pretty sub-par. I don't think it was super clear from the listing that there was no shower, this should be stated more clearly. They say there was a carbon monoxide detector, but there was a spot in the ceiling where it looked to have been removed. I didn't see one, but I could have missed it.And the hot tub cover was tough to replace - kept getting stuck against the siding of the house.I've stayed at better places that aren't trying to hard to be trendy, for the same price, with better-working amenities.

The property and creek are stunning. The cabin it self is beautiful. It's set far apart from any other homes unlike most cabins in this area. Fantastic atmosphere for reading or crafting. I would definitely return.

The perfect couples getaway. The cabin is nicely secluded and feels very private. The kitchen has everything you need to make meals, and the assortment of teas and coffee was a great amenity. The bathtub was DIVINE, and the heated floors were a huge perk. The sounds of the river were so relaxing, especially while soaking in the hot tub! We cannot wait to come back!

Love this spot

This was my second time staying here. The first time I came alone and this time I brought a friend. While the weather wasn’t as warm as the first time, we still had a great time. The location, especially with the river right there, is perfect. Having the hot tub on the deck and being able to look out at the river is the best. I would definitely come back.

Beautiful and peaceful

It’s a cute little cabin right next to the river - super quiet and peaceful. I hung out on the back deck in the sun all day, and enjoyed looking at the river. The sound of the river was soothing at night. Would definitely stay again!!

Beautiful and secluded.

Very cozy and comfortable. The back deck and hot tub were great. Everything worked. Only feedback I'd add, is that there IS a 220 V outlet for e-car charging, but it isn't mentioned in the listing. We would have preferred to have driven our e-car had we known.

Wonderful Romantic Getaway!

My wife and I stayed here for a long weekend and loved it! Easy to get to but feels secluded. Beautiful views and sounds of the river. Nice touches like a heated bathroom floor and heated toilet seat : ) Definitely recommend!

Amazing and cozy

We were overwhelmed by the beautiful nature surrounding the home. Pictures just don’t do it justice. The set up of the home is straight out of a movie, we would change nothing! While we stayed there was no rain and it was mid 60 low 40 F and the heating/cooling worked great. We will be staying again very soon and are so thankful for the owners to have this spot available!

Phenomenal and Private

This cabin is beautiful and clean with incredible views of the river inside and out and in the hot tub. The hot tub looks brand new and was the cleanest one I’ve ever seen and super hot: 102. We made an egg scramble in the well equipped kitchen. We got pizza from Rico’s and it was delicious. We read books, napped, and enjoyed the claw foot tub. A much needed respite away from everyday stressors. We didn’t want to leave and can’t wait to come back.

Anniversary getaway

Every year twice a year we take a trip out this way. We love it out here!! So beautiful This was a nice spot with a good river view (not really from inside the hot tub) and not ideal for fishing if you wanna wake up and walk out to the water and fish. Another downside is you can't shower only baths (which my husband doesn't wanna bathe after the hot tub each time. Me either) and by the time the bath his half full the water is cold. The beds are smallish and the check out clean up process was a little excessive. We always leave it how we arrived so it was easy just the list of the expectations was more than others especially when you pay a cleaning fee at booking. Overall I'd say 3 stars it was a nice getaway with decent views but for the price we've found bigger and better cabins very close by. Also I would recommend updating the photos because the cabin in the photos do not look like the cabin we stayed at. It's been renovated since those photos and gives a different vibe completely. It's more modern and we were excited for the more rustic look. I feel the picture kind of fakes you out which is disappointing. Also no washer and dryer. We always find that as a plus when staying for days.

Sanctuary

I wanted a few days of solitude to reset, connect with nature, and relax and am SO glad I landed on this cabin for my retreat. Everything was as advertised and better. The view of the river from bed makes it hard to want to get up, but the thought of the even CLOSER view from the hot-tub below was motivating enough. Beautiful cozy home. I hope to be back!
