Had an excellent stay here for some golf and a day on the lake. Perfect place to stay if you want privacy and be secluded from everything….but at the same time centrally located to lots of stuff at the resort and close to few small towns. The house was in a wooded area that had lots of living space, plenty of beds for our group, and a deck overlooking one of the greens on the golf course.

Ski Trip

Well appointed with everything we needed for our stay, the home easily accommodated 4 families with plenty of space. The location is perfect for skiing and close to shopping as well. Trying to put together a golf trip so we can rent it again in the summer and enjoy the outdoor features :)

Family Ski Weekend

After arriving during a snowstorm (Pure Michigan), our family together time was relaxing, fun and really great! We plan to come back next year.

Good Location and Size

Enjoyed the location and the large house with a couple good sized hangout areas. The place could just use a little bit of TLC. Communication with the host was good and timely.

Family snow fest!

Great place for friends and family who enjoy skiing and the outdoors. Unfortunately the snow pack was nonexistent unless you were on the slopes (man made). But the house is comfortable and playing games, telling stories, doing puzzles and eating made it the perfect winter get-a-way.

Great location, near golf, water, amusements for children. Lots of room, lower level great for kids (includes tv and playroom). Kitchen well stocked with utensils. Dining seating inside and out. Property works great for families with people of all ages. Would visit again.

Shanty Creek Golf Weekend

The house was able to comfortably accommodate 12 of us with no problem. Everything was in good working order, unlike some other properties we have stayed at in years past. The host was super responsive, unlike any other. It seemed like most questions were answered within seconds! Also, the check-out process is very simple and streamlined.

Price and Location = Great

Location, size and price are great. The house is a bit run down but that wouldn't stop me from renting again, and the price reflects that. Plenty of room for our 5 families, all with children. We would book again without hesitation. Listing description is accurate. Hosts were easy to communicate with. All in all, worth it.

Vienna Way stay at Schuss

We thought the propoerty was clean and as advertised. It had, perhaps, the best stocked kitchen as we had ever seen...plenty of plates, silverware, cooking utensils pots/pans etc...very very good. The place had 11 beds which was key for us. Bathrooms were very clean as was the rest of the house. We liked the fire pit. Home was at the end of a road for nice privacy and near the green of one of the golf course holes which was fun. Only critique we might have was the propane grill was simply of an age where it needed to be replaced. But, bottom line is, we would very gladly return to this place and rent again. It was quite impressive.

Christmas in July

Our family was not able to celebrate Christmas together in 2022. We decided to get everyone together for a weekend getaway in July. Our group has19 adults and one 14 year old. We had plenty of space to all be together for opening presents, as well as several areas to break apart for smaller activities. Each person was able to sleep in a bedroom , and no one was stuck on a hide-away bed. We had beautiful weather, so we spent a lot of time outdoors in the yard and on the deck. If it had rained, we would have been perfectly fine staying inside the house, even with 20 people. We only had a few concerns or issues, but it wouldn’t stop us from staying again next year. The first concern was the outdoor trash cans were completely full when we arrived. Trash day must have not happened between the previous guests, and our stay, but we just needed to drive our trash to the dumpsters about a mile away at the resort. Our second concern has nothing to do with the property at all. If your GPS tells you to go down a 2 track road to get to the property, just keep driving on paved roads until the GPS redirects you. Some of us were directed to go down the 2 track road and some were not. The Jeep riders didn’t mind those directions but the minivan riders were a little rattled when they arrived at the property. We were able to tell the rest of the drivers to not take the 2 track road to get to the property. Our family had a great time together. We hope to stay again.

This is a great property for lots of people

We are having family reunions every year and we have twice come to this property. There are a lot of us and the open space kitchen, living room, dining room and the outdoor bonfire area are just great for big groups. Plenty of beds for plenty of sleeping spaces!

We made the best of it

Upon arrival July 10, we noticed there was long dog hair on the furniture and area rugs and we had allergy concerns. We brought a non-shedding dog but kept her outside or in her cage all week. So we started our vacation by vacuuming up dog hair. The basement smelled aweful - musty and the larger basement bedroom smelled like puke. The carpet had stains all over the stairs. The bathroom had black mold spots and the overhead fan did not work. I wrote an email to Mike and Tressia Mooney with my issues shortly after arrival. In addition to the smelly basement, we couldn’t figure out how to lock the outside bedroom door, there were some missing light bulbs and the smoke alarms were chirping. The gas grill was dirty so we had to clean it before using. The back outside deck was full of leaves and sticks so we swept off the furniture and deck before using. The screen door to the deck was ripped so the mosquitoes could come in. There were broken chairs around the fire pit too. Tressia sent the person she had clean the house over to talk to us. She admitted she thought the basement was clean so did not clean it but noticed the bad smell. I spoke with Tressia and she told me I should keep the dehumidifier going in the basement 24/7 to help with the smell. There were no instructions left so we didn’t know about that. Tressia told me we we could pack up and leave and she would give us a refund. That was unacceptable. I booked this house in February and my whole family took work off to go on vacation together. I suggested they hire a professional carpet cleaning and Tressia relayed there were none available. She relayed she would come over with her husband and carpet clean and that happened Tuesday. Since the carpets were wet, we couldn’t use the basement for a day. Once the carpets dried, the smell was a little better but we were unable to use the larger room in the basement because of the overpowering smell that lingered. We tried to make the best of it. I tried to be nice dealing with Tressia because I know she hires out the cleaning but she was not nice and gave me an attitude. We left the house in better condition than we found it but I am concerned that we our security deposit will not be refunded because of this review. I also took out the insurance. I rented a house through VRBO last year which was a great experience. I am happy to answer any questions regarding the above and would appreciate some help from you.

Annual Family Get Away

This house is modern and spacious for large families and groups. The rooms and bedrooms are the perfect size with plenty of linens and bedding available. The beds are very comfortable. This house has the most stocked kitchen I have ever stayed in. It has all the pots, pans, dishes and spices you will ever need. It was a wonderful surprise. You are very close to Bellaire in this resort, which has several nice shops we enjoy visiting, as well as a grocery store that has everything you could possibly need during your stay. Tressia is a wonderful host and very accommodating. I had no problem getting ahold of her and she responded immediately. We definitely hope to stay here again!
