During the hottest time San Diego had seen for a while, the air conditioning worked great. It was a joy coming back to Ricks rental property knowing the air conditioning was working perfectly. Rick responded quickly to our questions and needs. This was our first of I hope many experiences renting a home instead of a hotel. Wonderful! Everything was easy which was appreciated. The property is beautiful with outside access and lovingly maintained. Rick was wonderful as well and although the owners do live on the property, it felt private and peaceful. Thanks again Rick!

Perfect Home Base for a Family Wedding Weekend

Rick’s place was close to both our home and the wedding venue, making it the perfect spot for overflow family (much nicer to sleep on a bed in your own room, than draw straws for the couch). Rick communicated regularly, checking in to make sure everything was running smoothly. Comfortable, cozy space, amazing views, perfect location. Couldn’t ask for a better place!

Exceeded Expectations

A new, beautifully furnished home! Comfy sofa, beds & pillows. This place is stocked with everything you could possibly need! High quality dishes, pans & tons of spices & appliances. The owners were very friendly and helpful; provided a long list of things to do in the area and were available anytime we needed. Nothing but great things to say about this stay. It was perfect for the family.

We had a wonderful stay! The place was spotless and thoughtfully stocked with everything we could’ve needed—even little extras like sunblock and bathroom air freshener. The home was very comfortable, and we especially appreciated the cozy beds and having TVs in both bedrooms.The balcony and outdoor seating areas were great for relaxing, and the views from the upstairs bedrooms gave us a nice look at the neighborhood and even the beach. The location was perfect—quiet, peaceful, and close to the beach and eating establishments of OB. We also had no trouble finding parking for our second car, which was a huge plus.The host was fantastic, responding quickly to all of our questions and making sure we had everything we needed. We’d absolutely stay here again!

A Wonderful Stay at The Guesthouse

I recently stayed at the Guesthouse in San Diego and couldn’t have been happier with my experience. The property itself is beautiful, exceptionally clean, and very comfortable, with every amenity I could have needed for a relaxing stay. The view was lovely, and the close proximity to the beach was such a wonderful bonus — it made my trip even more enjoyable.The host was gracious, thoughtful, and made sure I had clear instructions for entering the property, which I really appreciated. When my flight was unexpectedly delayed by several hours, they kindly allowed me to stay past the checkout time — a generous gesture that made a stressful travel day so much easier.I felt completely safe and at home throughout my stay, and I truly appreciate the care and attention the host puts into this guesthouse. I highly recommend this property to anyone visiting San Diego and look forward to staying here again.

Home away from home!

I have stayed in a lot of vacation rentals and this is one of the BEST! The guesthouse is incredibly well cared for and no details have been overlooked. The space is very comfortable and the unit is well stocked. Location is fantastic and a perfect base for exploring all of San Diego. A quick 10-15 minute walk to the beach. Neighborhood is very nice and feels very safe. Outside patio is a great space, as is the balcony with ocean views! Owner is very responsive from time of booking to check out. Do not hesitate to book this fantastic place. It is truly is one of the best!

Perfect Place for our Trip to SD!

We had an amazing stay at Ricks place and highly recommend it for anyone looking for a great home base for their next trip to SD. As mentioned in several other reviews, the home is clean, cozy, modern, and well equipped with everything you need to have a comfortable stay. The location is perfect. We loved walking down to Ocean beach and taking our dog to the dog beach. The neighborhood is very quiet and peaceful and it's a short drive to many of the best areas/attractions in SD. Rick, the host, was very welcoming and provided great recommendations for food and things to do. He was also nice enough to put on a couch cover so our pup could go on the sofa. We will definitely stay here again when we come to visit our friends in San Diego.

Well kept, supplied, and decorated OB DADU property clearly loved and cared for by the owners (who are so lovely!). My husband and I stayed here for 9 days with our 2 little dogs. Quiet location at the top of the hill overlooking the downtown OB area and beach with short distance access to either downtown OB & Point Loma (scooter or drive) or the back side of Voltaire (walk or scooter) for some good eats & chill vibes. Overall though, a super central location to access all that beautiful San Diego has to offer! The property inside (super comfy beds) and out had everything you need and more, including a juicer! The property entrance is located on a dead end alley which makes it quiet, safe and an easy way for dog’s to take quick potty walks. The parallel parking spot in the alley was so handy and accommodated our Subaru Crosstrek perfectly. Easy check in/out process and communicative hosts. We highly recommend this property!

OB Escape

Our stay was flawless. Communication with the owner, Rick, was timely and gracious. The apartment was clean and comfortable. We appreciated all the attention to detail including the quality appliances and fixtures, coffee fixings, and soaps/shampoos. We didn’t need to purchase anything for our 4 night stay. This was our first visit to San Diego, and we decided the Ocean Beach neighborhood was the perfect fit for exploring both the city and the coast. OB has a great laid-back vibe and felt like a quiet escape from the hustle and bustle. We would definitely stay here again!

PREMIUM STAY

I've stayed in a lot of places around the world, and this one truly stands out as one of the best. The view on the 2nd floor on the balcony of the bay is absolutely stunning, that’s were we had coffee every morning. PREMIUM PLACE...AMAZING VIEW OF THE BAY... ALL AC SPLITS & CELLING FANS WORKED PERFECTLY... VERY COMFORTABLE BEDS AND COMFORTERS...VERY WELL STOCKED WITH UTENSILS AND POTS, PANS FOR COOKING...HIGH QUALITY APPLIANCES.... FANTASTIC LOCATION, SAFE AREA.The neighborhood was quiet, safe, and a really peaceful place to come back to after a day out exploring. It was easy to get around pretty much everything we wanted to see was 15–20 minutes away. Everything felt clean and thoughtfully set up. It felt like a real home, not just a rental. Just a heads up: the entrance is around the back, through an alley behind the main road. It’s not hard to find once you know, but it wasn’t obvious at first. The designated parking spot is convenient, but getting in and out can be tricky, especially if the neighbor across the alley has their car parked. We had to do a bit of maneuvering a couple of times, we ended up doing a 20 point turn a couple times but we also found street parking and honestly street parking was easier and we always found a spot nearby. Flexible, let us drop out luggage early and also check out late. All in all, we loved our stay and would absolutely come back. It really was a special place.

Wonderful Home!

This was a great vacation home for me, my husband, daughter and son-in-law. Location was central to everything we wanted to do. We visited Coronado, Del Mar, La Jolla, Torrey Pines Golf Club, Midway Aircraft Carrier, Aquarium and San Diego Zoo. All are in different directions but all within a easy 30 minute drive (most were a 20 minute drive). Neighborhood was safe and quiet and walking distance to the beach, shops, and restaurants. The kitchen was very well equipped with nice appliances. The owner did not scrimp on building or furnishings--it was well appointed. This was a very clean home (a top priority of mine!). The pictures lead you to believe the lower level is more cramped than it actually is. It is spacious enough for 4-5 people to congregate in and not feel on top of each other. The weather did not cooperate during our visit so we did not get to enjoy the back area but it is very nice and private. I would have loved to have had my morning coffee out there. The owner does live on the property but is not intrusive--was there if we needed him but not noticed when we didn't. The check in/out process was seamless. Would definitely recommend staying here and hope to stay here again should we return.

Overall — positive experience

The guesthouse was great for us and our two small dogs. The backyard is fully fenced, so we didn’t have to worry about them being out there on their own for a few moments.The host was warm, approachable, and very helpful.While the listing mentioned a carport for parking, we ended up parking in the alley. It wasn’t an issue— just have to back up going in or out of the alley if you’re unable to turn around.The listing also mentioned the potential noise from planes due to the proximity to the airport. We didn’t see much detail on it, but if you're staying here, be prepared to hear planes flying overhead. It wasn't a huge problem for us since we were out all day, and when we were home in the evenings, closing the windows helped a lot. If you're planning to relax on the balcony, earplugs or music through earbuds/earphones might be a good idea.We didn’t use the home much outside of sleeping and showering, but the kitchen was fully stocked, and there was both a Keurig and a regular coffee pot. The bathroom also had extra amenities, which was a nice touch. The closets were spacious, they were hangers in both closets. Each room had extra blankets and pillows, etc.The overall decor had a nice beach vibe and the home was clean.The only reasons I didn’t give this a five-star review were the king-sized bed, which was uncomfortable for my husband, and the mini-split AC, which blew on us all evening. You can adjust it to “swing” so it doesn’t blow consistently on you, but it still wasn’t ideal.Overall, though, it was a lovely guesthouse, and we had a good stay.

Had a great stay just up the hill from OB!The guest house had everything you could ask for, and much, much more! Rick was super quick to assist us when needed. We loved chilling on the balcony & the sea world drone show was a bonus! We loved walking everywhere & also appreciated the off street parking. The house is in flight path, but there are earplugs everywhere. We slept like babies in the super comfy beds, high quality linens & no planes at night. We only cooked a couple of times & appreciated sharp knives & high quality pans! Felt like home.Had so many amazing meals in the area! My only complaint would be wish they had a little more comfy seating. Our daughters both visited on the weekends & hard to all snuggle watching Wimbledon & sipping coffee, but we didn’t mind being so close to our girls :) We had a fabulous 2 weeks & would stay again. It is a great neighborhood & home! 5 stars!
