• Bedroom 1: Sleeps 2 in a queen bed with fresh, cozy linens for restful nights.

• Bedroom 2: Sleeps 4 in a double bed, single daybed, and pull-out single trundle, and expansive walk-in robe—perfect for families or extra guests.

• Bathroom: Freshen up in the large walk-through rain shower or soak the night away in the freestanding stone bath; this bathroom has antique and rustic styling with brass fittings, unique tile work, and homely wood accents —truly a luxe wild meets modern design.

• Kitchen: Dreamy for home-chefs—complete with a five-burner gas stove, extra-large oven, stone composite sinks, dishwasher, and butler’s pantry with Breville barista coffee machine, oversized fridge, and open timber shelving, this kitchen is perfect for hosting and provides everything you need – just bring the food!

• Set on a working farm: There is always something interesting happening somewhere on the 150 acres; You are free to sit back and relax in your own space or get involved and get your hands dirty, whichever takes your fancy. If there has been recent rain, please bring your gumboots to explore the full farm!

• Boat Ramp: Have full access to the saltwater Maria River with our rustic boat ramp and sandy surrounds —perfect for launching your boat or dipping your toes!

• Kayaking: Explore the river and get a different view of the surrounds by paddling around Boomerang Island on our free to use kayaks and life jackets.

• Catch your Dinner: The river carries a range of saltwater fish and crabs, and many rave about the fishing spot we have here! Cast from the riverbank, out on the kayak, or out from your boat, there is opportunity for everyone to have a go (BYO gear, bait available for purchase onsite).

• Firepit: Ready for star-lit stories and marshmallow toasting, down by the river’s edge.


The Animals:

• Meet your new farm friends: cows, goats, sheep, pigs, miniature horses, chickens, ducks, rabbits, guinea pigs, and adorable dogs—always ready to greet new guests. Many of the farm animals are rescues who enjoy their new relaxed life. Farm fresh eggs are available for purchase.

• There is usually always a new baby to see on your self-led farm adventures. In school holidays there is also the opportunity to come along to our mini farm tours where everyone can get up closer and cuddle a baby animal of some sort!

**Please note that we are also Hipcamp Hosts, with other guests booked in 10 sites for self-contained camping along our river front (south of The Homestead). Next to The Homestead is the original cottage on one side (where we have family living), and on the other side is our main farm shed. There are some landscaping works that still need to be completed around the farm, however these will not be undertaken during your stay.

Fantastic farm stay! Beautifully appointed home, the lovely hosts have thought of every detail including a Christmas tree (we stayed in December). From the gourmet kitchen with coffee maker to the farmyard nursery, we wouldn’t change a thing and our family is already thinking about when we can return. Thank you!

Absolutely wonderful stay. The house was fantastic. Very comfortable. The bathroom was particularly amazing. Loved having all the animals around. Plenty to do both on the farm and around the local area. The hosts were wonderful, lots of advice on things to do and very responsive to any questions we had. We would definitely come and stay again if it’s available.

Peaceful øocation close to Port Macquarie

We loved the peace , the river and the animals. The owners were friendly and helpful, and it was a short drive to Pt Mc where there are beaches and tons to do. The house is lovely and coffee maker excellent.

Loved our stay. The hosts were so accommodating and friendly. The farm is beautiful with lots of animals and the opportunity to see the animals throughout the stay with a daily morning tour of the farm as well. The cottage is just wonderful and well stocked it felt like home.

Beautiful Farm Cottage

We all loved staying in this very comfortable, cozy, & quiet cottage. Everything about it was perfect. Surrounded by farm animals, ponies, goats, puppies, & bunnies! And the river with kayaks! We didn’t miss not having a good wifi connection, because there were so many things to do, & all a short drive from Port Macquarie. My only regret is that we didn’t have time to stay longer. But I do hope to return 😁 Excellent welcome by owner who was very responsive to any requests. Thank you!

Great place for families

We had a lovely holiday at The Hatch. Susan was very friendly and went the extra mile to give the kids some great experiences with the baby animals. The cottage had everything we needed and it was easy to get to the beaches and restaurants Port Macquarie.

Best farm stay ever

I have never seen a farm stay as clean and modern as this one. The property was so clean amd it has been fully renovated. Great location with only 15 mins drive away from port Macquarie. Big thank you to Sue and Mag helping out on check in and sorting out the BBQ. The complimentary animal tour brings a lot of fun too. This will be my accomodation for my next trip to Port Macquarie

Best Farm Stay Ever

Wow this was by far one of the best places my partner and i have stayed with our Staffy. Susan and Bernard are the most kindest and nicest hosts and so accommodating. The retreat is close to Port Macquarie and other surrounding areas. The home was so homely, the beds comfortable and the house just perfect. All the animals were so friendly, my dog made friends with the horses and the Ram and the resident dog Chloe. The farm tour was awesome and we were lucky to be there when the foal was born as well as the calf and rabbits and chickens. The little beach was beautiful and was great to go fishing even though we didn't catch any fish, it was just nice to sit and relax by the water, the farm fresh eggs were so yummy. Thankyou Susan. The only negative we have is we had to go home, we will definitely be back.

Lovely animal farm

Lovely home. A lot of love put in to make sure it's comfortable to visitor. Kids love the interaction with the animals. Just would love it to be a little closer to Sydney so we could visit more often.

Fabulous farm stay on the river with plenty to see and do.

Bernard and Susan welcomed us to their property and shared their beautiful animals and with us. The kids loved playing with the dogs, rabbits and guinea pigs. There was paddling on the river, jumping on the trampoline and joining in at animal feeding time. The property was a short drive to Port Macquarie and we also went strawberry picking just up the road. We enjoyed our stop over on the way to QLD and the home was clean and comfortable and roomy enough for our family of 6. Thank you, we enjoyed our stay.

Cute farm stay

Great accomodation at the cottage in a beautiful location. Such wonderful hosts and lots of great activities for the kids - kayaking, baby animals, adopt a puppy. It was so great to recharge and let the kids run free. Highly recommended!

Very nice and quiet. Bit wet so not able to take advantage of kayaks or farm tour but loved it. Close to Port Macquarie. Highly recommended.

Comfy country cottage

Great setup in a beautiful riverside setting. Fenced yard for pets. The only downside was a booking in the homestead next door. Loud family arguments and dogs roaming free meant we had to restrict our dogs movements, and curtailed exploration. Host got an automated message that we had checked out and arrived to clean the place before we had left. No big deal, but a faulty system.

Relaxing and quiet

Cottage was perfect. River access and kayak availability was excellent. Nearby campers were surprisingly quiet. Was relaxing and quiet and wish we could have stayed longer.

Very pleasant stay but needs a few tweaks

Overall fairly satisfactory experience but 1) Would be helpful to show a map with local eateries 2) Have milk stocked for guests to make cup of tea 3) Notified we were not bringing our dogs with us before we left home, so Bernard mentioned we were owed money ( I assume re. cleaning fee) on speaking with him, however have not had any follow-up. 3) The leather lounge in living area was covered with dust & dirt, must have been missed by cleaner.

What a wonderful place for a relaxing break. Susan and Bernard are so warm and welcoming. Everything was perfect. The house was spotlessly clean, neat and well equipped. The dogs had a great time too, swimming in the river and at the beach. We will return to The Hatch.

A higly recommended accomodation

This place is outstanding! We love everything about this accommodation, and we thoroughly enjoyed our stay. It is a perfect and safe place for our dog too. The house is well presented, clean and very comfortable with five-star facilities. Bernard, Alyse and Susan were very friendly and accommodating. Thank you. We will come back again and recommend this place to our family and friends.
