Really nice yard to view Lake and room for my daschund to rome. Liked the privacy. Brought my canoe and was easy enough launch and tie up to the dock. Water was shallow so a big boat might be an issue. House was cozy and comfortable.

We loved our stay! This is a beautiful spot on Elk Lake with lots of lake frontage and wonderful shoreline for play/swim in the water. The cabin is cute and reminds me of the cabin I grew up in on the other side of the lake. The only reason for the 4 stars is that the burners on the stove don’t all work well and there was some dust/dirt that could have been eliminated in corners, etc. Overall, we loved it and would love to return!

Cabin at the Lake

Rating Details: The property manager was very helpful. The vacation rental was spotless. I was very happy with the location. I was very satisfied with the condition of the vacation rental. Overall, I recommend this vacation rental. Reviewer Comments: Four adults had a lovely time at the Cabin at the Lake. We enjoyed sitting out on the furnished chairs (with pads!) gazing at the water and listening to the loons. We were surprised by how quiet the lake was during our visit - only a few people with motorized watercraft went by (we were there during the week of wildfire smoke, so that probably factored into it). Probably the most well-stocked kitchen I've encountered at a rental. It was a bit cramped for 4 adults and one big dog, but we made it work. The bath towels were plush, too!

Nice, old fashioned, small, lakefront cabin. Quiet, which is what I was looking for. Close enough to Traverse City. Very pleasant stay. Would stay here again.

Great place to stay near Traverse City

Just 2 of us staying there so there was plenty of space, if there had been more it might have been a little cramped. This place has a really big yard with privacy fence on either side, perfect for our dog to run around in and go for a swim when he wanted to. It was perfect!

Great location for an Elk Lake/Torch Lake vacation! Rustic cabin was as listed - cabin was clean and well-kept for an older cabin. The location on the lake is great and the provided mooring buoy was perfect for a pontoon. The shore entry is a rock wall, which could be a bit challenging for smaller children or people with mobility challenges. This cabin gives you great proximity to Elk Rapids and Torch Lake. Check-in/Check-out was easy and instructions from host were clear.

Great View & Quiet Location

You are paying for the view/location, the cabin is cozy (surprisingly the bed and pillows were great), but it is pretty dirty and outdated. Waking up and having your coffee while the sun is rising over the lake made it completely worth it though.

Not a lot of hot water so plan accordingly. I would suggest installing an instant electric hat water heater for the whole cabin. 13k should be sufficient. It would also take up less space in the bathroom. Check in was easy. Very relaxing and beautiful views. We will be back.

We thought the property and the lake were beautiful, and we saw two eagles! Other than sleeping, we mostly stayed at a cabin across the water where our daughter was having her wedding. We would like to come back and actually enjoy all this cabin has to offer. Our only suggestion would be that you might have a dehumidifier, because the sheets felt damp when we got into bed and our clothes from the closet also felt damp. Otherwise, it was lovely. 3

I wanted to share my experience during our recent stay. Before booking, I specifically called to confirm that a dock would be available for our boat. Upon arrival, there was no dock, and we were informed that the contract stated docks were only available after Memorial Weekend—despite my prior confirmation over the phone. This resulted in an unexpected additional cost of 284 to dock our boat several miles away.Additional issues during our stay included:Very limited hot water—dishwashing should be avoided until after showering.Numerous spiders and webs throughout the property.Cookware stored in cabinets was dirty. The yard showed little effort in maintenance or cleanup.Multiple extension cords were routed through cabin.Overall, this experience was disappointing and did not meet the expectations set by prior communication or the contract. I hope this feedback helps improve clarity for future guests and ensures property standards are upheld.

Gorgeous Setting!

Rating Details: The property manager was very helpful. The vacation rental was very clean. I was very happy with the location. I was somewhat dissatisfied with the condition of the vacation rental. Overall, I recommend this vacation rental. Reviewer Comments: This rustic cabin is a great place to hang on Elk Lake. Morning views are spectacular. Renters beware that there is no central heat, no ceiling in the bedrooms (ultimate open concept), and plumbing in the bathroom is reversed for hot and cold water. If your looking for a quiet rustic place, this cabin is for you!

Thank you for the feedback! The cabin now has multiple heating options for chilly nights including a gas fireplace, a gas heating unit that heats the entire cabin, and several portable electric heaters. The plumbing has been upgraded throughout, the mislabeled faucets in the bathroom have been fixed, a new multifunction showerhead was installed, and the septic system was completely replaced in the summer of 2022.
