Shell Cottage - Pet friendly, Hot tub, Fenced yard!

Come and enjoy a delightful vacation at "Shell Cottage"! Located on the popular East Side of Chincoteague Island, you'll enjoy water views of the Assateague Channel and lounging on the outside decks (one which includes an outside shower). This open floor plan home features two bedrooms downstairs (both with a queen bed and a TV each), a half bathroom, and spacious living room & kitchen. Upstairs you'll find 2 more bedrooms (one with twin trundle and the other with 2 twins) and a full bathroom. Just a short drive to the Memorial Waterfront Park, public boat launch, downtown area and restaurants! Shell Cottage also includes all the modern conveniences such as wireless internet, washer/dryer, dishwasher and more. And you'll have room to park your boat and trailer. This just may be your perfect vacation spot!
IMPORTANT NOTE: The hot tub is closed 10/01/25, it will reopen Spring of 2026.

- Linens and towels are included with your reservation.
- No smoking is permitted on the premises.
- This property is pet friendly with a pet fee per pet. Pet fee is $150 per pet. All pets must be disclosed prior to arrival.
- Any reservations made for a future year (known as "Advanced Reservations") are subject to rate and availability changes. These reservations will be confirmed in January of the arrival year.

Great place for our family and pets. Spacious, clean, modern and well declared home. We loved our stay! Two suggestions for future guests, add chicken wire to the fence to prevent smaller dogs going through the slats. Another suggestion would be to extend the raining to the first two big steps, hard for older guests. Thank you!!!

Family getaway

We stayed here for a family getaway for a few nights. We were quite happy here, and the fenced in year was perfect and secure for our dog to join us as well.

First Beach Trip

Wonderful place to stay! We brought our 2 year old down with us and I felt very safe letting her walk around both inside the property and outside. The upstairs is weirdly much larger then the photos give it credit for, the hot tub was amazing

Perfect stay!

The cottage fit us all so comfortably and we had ample space to include our dog. The fenced in yard was a bonus for him. The hot tub was perfect, we used it daily since the weather was a little chilly. Will definitely be back!

Magical time!!

As you can tell from my review we love Shell Cottage as well as Chincoteague Island!! We will be back for a week in September and intend to make some reservations for next year. Our doggie Gidget also loved the fenced in yard!!

Short trip to the shore!

The property is really nice. Great back deck area as well. Nice lay out. Close to everything. I rated it 4 stars because there were no paper products in the rental. We were not told to bring any so upon entering we had to ensure we had toilet paper, although some on the holder not enough for 4 days.and I’d rent it again. Great for pets all the other paper products you’d expect.

Great vacation

Property was very well maintained and clean. The yard space was great for my dogs. We had a couple of times where we had to contact the host . Both times they replied quickly. We would definitely go there again.

Weekend getaway with friends

We were a party consisting of 3 couples with 3 dogs staying at this rental for the weekend. The overall trip was great and we would revisit this rental for sure! The rental location was perfect for exploring the area with or without pets. There were a lot of good local food places to check out. The fenced in yard was great for the dogs as we could sit outside with them. The management company even presented us with 3 doggie packages upon arrival which was super cute and appreciated!

Wonderful!!

Was everything we wanted. Clean,specious, quite definitely would return. If there was one small thing. I would suggest a rail on the steps on the hot tub for us older girls😊. Already spoke to people about the rental. Have a great day

A Great little hide away

Perfect house ,so enjoyed our stay. My one suggestion is there was no working coffee makers. They were all broke and did not work. One very small one that maybe made 2 or 3 cups? Everything else was perfect !! We will be back ! A 10 star for sure !

Coffeemakers and toaster not working. Mattress old and sagging. My husband and I had to alternate sleeping on couch bc sleeping on mattress hurt our backs. And the couch wasnt that comfy either. Very saggy in places.

November 2022 Stay

Came in to an extremely clean, well taken care of home. Plenty to common space to eat meals and watch movies together, yet well separated bedrooms to also enjoy our private time. Although not directly on the water, still beautiful sunrise views from the front window (pictured here). And the hot tub under the stars made for the ultimate relaxing end to our days exploring. Less than 10 minutes away from everything-Highly recommend Up the Bay Pony tours for a closer look at all the wild life, Island Creamery for unique icecream flavors, Gary Howard for fresh seafood and AJ's on the Creek for fine dining! Only negative would be the amount of supplies we had to bring on our own and the required cleaning upon check out for the price/fees we paid. But despite this would definitely stay here again for our next visit to the island.

Fantastic rental house

We had a fantastic time staying at Shell Cottage. The cottage was exactly as advertised. It is much bigger inside than it looks and we loved the beach theme used inside for decorating. Our pup really enjoyed the large fenced yard, the kitchen was well stocked and the location was perfect for our needs. The hot tub was an amazing addition that we enjoyed daily during our visit! The downstairs front bedroom gets very bright in the morning. Because of this I would recommend adding black out curtains but it did not deter from our stay at all. Overall, this cottage was amazing and we would stay there again during future visits to Chincoteague.

Rating Details: The property manager was more than helpful. The vacation rental was clean. I was more than happy with the location. I was satisfied with the condition of the vacation rental. Overall, I recommend this vacation rental. Reviewer Comments: The little cottage and its location were good, however, there were some things that could be improved. For example, none of the TVs were functioning. Our rental agent, Lea, suggested that someone could stop by, but in the limited time we had available we were on the go most of the time. Although our first impression of the property's appearance was positive, there are some serious cleaning issues; for example, inside of kitchen cabinets and appliances. Among other details the yard needs urgent care. Finally, instructions about where to find what would be extremely helpful.

Shell Cottage - don't want to give a good secret away, but this property is wonderful. TV was tricky - need a note regarding how to connect - and the beds are not the most comfortable but are ok. Everything else is great! New dishwasher and stove were installed while we were there - and the hot tub was a great surprise!! We will definitely be returning again. Best yard for the dog too!

We enjoyed our stay at Shell Cottage! It was close to everything we wanted to do (bike rental, walkining trails, pony tour by boat, great restaurants). Kitchen was well equipped. The beds were comfy, as was the living room sofa. Our dog especially enjoyed playing in the big fenced yard. Four stars, because the dishwasher quit on the second day, but I'm sure it will be replaced for the next guest.

We chose Shell Cottage for the fenced yard, and partial water view. The pet friendly house is a priority for our two dogs. The house was decorated so very nicely, great beach theme. Very comfortable couch and chairs. Great furnishings. loved the upstairs bedrooms. Super cute. The kitchen had everything we needed to cook meals. Even though we brought home lots of steamed clams and fresh fish. It was nice to know we had all the utensils we may need. Rode bikes to the wildlife loop beach access everyday, about 5 miles. Then walked the beach. A really wonderful experience staying for almost a full month. Love the Eastside Road location. The folks at bike/outfitter shop were super friendly and helpful. The folks at the Resort office were great -and super helpful, and came right away when I locked myself out! Loved our time at Shell Cottage. Clean and comfy. Thank you so much for making it very pet friendly. everything was just wonderful!

Loved Shell Cottage! Great house layout. Loved the outdoor spaces. Easy access to boat ramps and all other activities. The fenced in yard was a big plus! In addition, Chincoteague Resort Vacations were extremely helpful in getting a new refrigerator in place when the old one died. Great service!
