Would recoomend

It was nice. Well kept and not too far from the beach. Will not really get to see the sunset from the proch but is nice in the mornings. Would recommend for a quite get away.

Perfect 30th Anniversary

Perfect beach house

We loved this house! The host sure set the house up with plenty of everything you would find in your own home including beach chairs. We will definitely be back. Clean, nice, quiet neighborhood steps away from the beach. Loved the beach decoration vibe inside. Only one thing to fix is the plumbing in one of the showers..we found the plunger on our last day. Perfect vacation!

Florida Beach Oasis

The house is clean and newly renovated. It offers spacious common areas including living room, kitchen and dining areas. We loved the lanai and lush vegetation. Its location in a shaded grove of oak tress is an oasis after hours in the Florida sun. The proximity to the beach is wonderful and provides endless hours of walking, lounging, shelling and optimal views of sunsets. Will be coming back next winter/spring!

Beautiful home with amazing beach location!

I spent a couple nights at this beautiful home with my family for a beach staycation and we were not disappointed. The house was comfortable, clean and very well equipped and the location was just a super short walk to a lovely private beach on the gulf. Robert is helpful and a pleasure to deal with! Quiet neighborhood & lovely trees

Sadly, we came at a time when the Red Tide was bad, so this affected our overall enjoyment of the lovely beach. For the few minor things that I needed to call Rob about, he responded very quickly by phone. However, he couldn't make any changes during our stay because he is a long-distance owner.

Peaceful, Relaxing, Wonderful!

We stayed 8 nights in this beautiful, little cottage and had an amazing time! The house is very well equipped with everything you need for a comfortable, relaxing stay. The "private" beach just a short walk from the house was so quiet and many days we were the only people there. We made friends with an iguana and a blue heron who seemed to be there every single time we relaxed on the beach! I can't say enough about how wonderful Rob is to work with. I have some chronic health issues that make traveling somewhat challenging for me and he was so very accommodating and understanding! Truly a blessing! I would absolutely recommend anyone stay here. The home is clean and well taken care of and Manasota Key is just a truly peaceful and tranquil little gem.

Great Location - fun family vacation!

We had a great time in this home. Beautiful kitchen, updated styling. Lovely screened in porch. The location was perfection. Private, gorgeous beach just a VERY SHORT walk to the beach via an easement open only to the street the house sits on. While area public beaches were packed along with parking shortages, our beach was secluded and perfect for long, lazy days to watch dolphins and look for shark's teeth. The neighbors we met were very friendly. There is even a gopher tortoise (Little Doris) burrowing onsite that was fun to watch for and feed hibiscus flowers to. The house is super clean and has a gas grill, beach chairs, bicycles and beach toys. There is no reason to leave when you stock up on groceries on the way to the property and at the same time, it is close to bars and restaurants if you get restless (we did not get restless, however). Thanks Rob for making your home available to rent. We will be back!!

Best street on the island

I’m convinced Gnarled Oak is the best street on the island. The trees, houses, neighbors and easy access to the beach are pretty hard to beat. Normally, I am someone who recoils from staying anywhere not directly beachfront...but, this was a great option. I’ve had bad past experiences staying a block off the beach (other Florida spots) and hauling chairs, etc, in the scorching shadeless heat...not pleasant. The gnarled oaks provide such great shade and “beaucoups“ of charm, that it’s such a short, pleasant stroll to the beach. Do wear some flip flops, as my well-seasoned toots were too tame to take the shell road on shoeless. Our family of 4, which includes 2 young men, fit very well in this home. A queen bed was tighter than we have grown accustom to, but was by no means a problem for us. My husband and I are small people though. The twins, perfect for our sons. And, I was so very grateful to have that second bathroom. When you are the only female in a family of guys, you learn to appreciate that extra bathroom even more so. The house was super clean, and stocked very well. Towels plentiful, beach chairs in great shape...must say I love the faucet/sprayer hooked up by the front door. Perfect. The only slight issue we had was initially with the tv. My spouse says I should mention that the listing should not say includes cable/should say house provides Roku streaming channels. We stayed in for dinner one night, and tried area restaurants the other nights. Restaurants were usually quite crowded, but this was the week after Christmas, so I assume that’s to be expected for that time. We ate at Farlow’s, Beach Road Wine Bistro, Lock ‘N Key, and Leverock’s and did get ice cream one night at Made in the Shade. Leverock’s was the only place we could get a reservation on New Year’s Eve, pretty much last minute. It was a set menu. Couldn’t recommend it based solely on our experience that particular night. We liked Farlow’s and actually ate there twice. Friendly service, fairly quick, pretty good ambiance for us (not a romantic meal), and good food. Lock n’ Key was packed so we took a table out front in a makeshift looking tent just to be seated and eating quicker. It started raining and everything getting wet...the poor managers/owners were hustling to do their best to remedy the situation, but it wasn’t easy. Our meal suffered bc of the whole situation, but my fried shrimp and fries were good...and I LOVED my Caesar salad.

Relaxing weekend getaway

Great location to private beach access….short walking distance. We had some issues with getting our rental car out of airport, but luckily the complimentary golf cart transport was available by local restaurant. The house was super clean and the beds were very comfortable. Definitely would stay there again. Be sure to check for “red tide” warnings…. it was difficult t to truly enjoy this great property.

Perfect place for a relaxing beach getaway

The place was perfect. Very clean and everything you needed. Check in process was easier than a hotel. Property owner responds quickly and makes sure you have everything you need. The beach is right next to the house down a little path and was amazing. Nice, quiet, and relaxing. We will definitely be back.

Birthday getaway

This Manasota Key property was perfect. It is very close to the Englewood beach area restaurants, and literally a 2 minute walk down the lane to a gorgeous and very private beach. The house itself was lovely, and had everything we needed.. It was very quiet and peaceful, but close to everything. We would love to come back!!

Christmas getaway

This property is absolutely amazing. We had a nice quiet Christmas getaway and this was the perfect location. The house was spaceous and very clean. Just steps from a beautiful private beach. The landscaping was very nice. Local restaurants we great. It was the perfect family trip. Rob is a gracious owner and responds quickly to emails. Nice beach getaway

Very well kept property, well stocked and clean. Not beachfront technically but had a private driveway steps from the beach, it literally takes one minute of walking to get to the beach access point. Beach was empty every time. They have some beach chairs and beach toys available if you have kids. Nice hose outside to wash off your sand before coming in. Overall very happy with our local weekend getaway.

My wife and I bought this house in December 2012 to retire to. That's still a ways off. In the meantime, we travel here a few times each year to enjoy the house and all the natural beauty the area has to offer. We want you to do the same!

Manasota Key is a hidden gem and the location of our house is ideal for enjoying nearby shopping, dining and entertainment while relaxing in the shade of our beautiful gnarled oak trees and taking in sunsets every night on your own private beach! We haven't wasted any time in completely updating the house, including new kitchen, flooring, fixtures, windows, doors, AC system, etc. The exterior has been freshly painted and the property professionally landscaped. A tropical paradise!
