This was our third visit to Rocky Top since 2022. We just wanted peace and quiet during such a busy holiday season. Rocky Top never disappoints. Comfortable accommodations. Wide open spaces to roam. Great sunsets. Nice patios to enjoy the pleasant evenings. And our pets are welcome to join us. Until next time..

The house is located in a very quiet area surrounded by lots of trees and nature, which made for a peaceful stay. The home itself is spacious and very clean, with plenty of towels provided. It had everything we could possibly need. There’s lots of parking available and a lovely porch that’s perfect for enjoying your morning coffee.

We had an unusually long stay during repairs to our house, with pets. The property is in the middle of a large ranch, and is very quiet and scenic and peaceful. The host was very responsive and helpful.

Wildflower heaven

The property was very easy to find. The facilities were clean and up to date. Amenities such as coffee and shampoo were provided. It was very peaceful with a multitude of wild flowers and birds. All in all, we were extremely pleased with our stay.

Comfortable & Pleasant Stay in Bertram

I am so glad we selected the home to rent for the weekend we came to Bertram to see family. Communication with the owners was easy. They were very responsive to our questions. The home and the beds were very comfortable. Everything we needed was here. It was easy to cook a BBQ dinner. We enjoyed the front porch for our morning coffee and visiting in the evening. Beautiful sunrises and splashing birds in the small pond.

Perfect Place

Wildflowers, peace and tranquility. This place is well equipped with everything. The owner makes check in a piece of cake and is very helpful. We will be back.

Beautiful house on a beautiful place

The house fit our family of 5 perfectly. It was fully furnished with all of our getaway needs. The place is beautiful and all of the windows in the house provide beautiful views of the property. The house is located in privacy and the property is home to many beautiful birds. The host were very nice and quick to respond to communication. Hill Country is our favorite place to visit and we plan to rebook this place again on our next stay.

40th birthday weekend getaway

We booked place to celebrate a dear friend’s 40th birthday! Our plans were to go biking and visit a few wineries. We truly enjoyed our time at the place! It’s was spotless! One of the cleanest places we have stayed at. It was the perfect location, close to parks and wineries. Evening sunsets amazing and stars at night beautifully displayed. Definitely booking again, hopefully for more than 2 nights. Mark was very attentive, replied to any text messages and made us feel welcomed.

Need More Stars for This Property!

This place is amazing in every aspect. From the spacious and beautifully decorated interior to the 40 acres of woods, fields and pond that you are able to explore. The amenities were second to none. Everything you could possibly need and then some was provided. The owner/host was super nice and readily available for any questions or requests. Plenty of wildlife to enjoy along with plethora of amazing books. This property has spoiled us, and we will never be 100% satisfied with any other property.

Great Retreat

Have rented many cabins/houses over the past 11 years and this has to be one of the absolute best! The house is lovely, well decorated, with quality throughout. The amenities are vast – many more than listed on VRBO. We loved the quiet (which is a high priority for us), the variety of birds and the many Gayle Waldrip books about Rocky Top and the nature of the area. The photos are stunning. One reason we selected this rental was hoping for a good night sky to see the Perseid meteor shower, and it did not disappoint. Don't bother bringing your bird books – Mark and Julie have an outstanding collection. The large kitchen has everything! Excellent, reliable WIFI. Without a doubt, we will be returning to Rocky Top for a longer stay!

Southern Hospitality

We booked this trip with our teenagers, extended family, and dogs to be in the path of totality for the Total Solar Eclipse in April. Money very well spent! We were treated like family by Mark and his wife. The property was covered in beautiful wildflowers, and the scenery was breathtaking. The house had everything we needed and even protected us fairly well during a nasty storm on our last day. We made use of the RV hookup for family who joined us, and everything worked perfectly. Mark even lit us a fire down by the water. Most importantly, our family made some memories we will cherish forever. We were blessed with clear-ish skies for the eclipse and took some amazing photos. My teenagers were already asking when we would return before we had even left. We will definitely be back! Thank you for the memories.

Country Retreat

Great stay, very quiet and clean!

We had a great short stay at this property. We were looking for somewhere to stay with our dogs in tow at the last minute and this exceeded our every expectation. We loved the space and how peaceful the property is. Our daughter loved taking walks and exploring. This was, hands-down, the cleanest rental we've ever stayed in. It was absolutely spotless. The owners have thought of everything! If you need it, it is there. It is obvious that a lot of thought and care has gone into this property. We hope to come again!

Weekend getaway

We thoroughly enjoyed our stay. The property is secluded and quiet. My family is from the Texas hill country and this stay reminded me of staying with my grandparents in the hills outside of San Saba. The home is well stocked, spacious, comfortable, with central air conditioning. Our hosts were very accommodating and a joy to work with. We would like to return to the area and this property.

The only place worth staying in the entire country of Texas!

We booked Mark’s place for a Ford Bronco Off-Rodeo event and couldn’t have more satisfied. I showed enthusiasm for the land (I’m from jersey, land is unheard of for me) and within 20 minutes, Mark offered to show his property via an off-roading vehicle. I explained to him why we were there, and he graciously offered to allow an exploration of his property. (300+ acres of wild flowers, garden attempts, and water wells.) I Mark was quick to respond but also left us alone.

Quiet, private and beautiful. Every detail, inside and out, was wonderful. You could tell they truly care about this property and the guest experience. Mark was very kind and gave us a tour of the land and it was breathtaking! Truly a great little getaway.
