Welcome to Sunset Lane Cottage. This cozy space is the perfect Cape Breton Island retreat! We are on a beautiful half acre private property with boho-cottage beach decor. Are you into stunning nightly sunsets, private beach walks, relaxation around the fire pit, and delicious baked goods? We've got you covered! We are located off of the beautiful Cabot Trail for your convenience. If you are an ocean lover, you can either walk 3-5 minutes down a private path to your own beach, or drive 2 minutes up the road to Le Buttereau, which features stunning Highland Park views as you picnic, swim, play, stand-up-paddle or kayak in your salt + fresh water haven. Sunset Lane Cottage is located 0.5kms to Aucoin's Bakery, 3.9kms to the Highlands National Park, 2.9 kms to the Gypsum Mines, 2.5kms to Cheticamp, local restaurants, and Le Portage golf course, and 12 kms to the Skyline Trail. Absolutely love staying here to enjoy the fall colours and the Celtic colours music festival! A perfect location for hiking as well. The house was sweet and clean and a perfect base. The kitchen was expertly equipped and we were able to cook all our meals there. This is a place full of love and we look very forward to returning whenever we can!

We really enjoyed our stay at the cottage! The layout of the house worked really well for our family of five (two adults and three children), and we appreciated the convenience of such a short walk the beach. Beds were comfy, kitchen had what we needed to make several meals, and it was helpful to be able to do laundry, too! Definitely recommend.

Weekend away

We really enjoyed the cottage and were glad to find beach chairs and bug spray! There were lots of things to do, go to the beach, the coffee shop and art gallery, kayaking, hiking and whale tours.

This gem is a must!! A clean, well appointed home on a beautiful property in an excellent location. The home has every amenity you need or want. We especially loved the quick path to the ocean. Cape Breton is such a gorgeous area and this location made it easy for us to access all that the northern end had to offer. Thank you for sharing your lovely home!

Sweet Cabin

2 moms traveling with adult daughters found this cabin to be a wonderful place to stay that fit our needs perfectly. So close to Cape Breton Highlands National Park for hiking and wonderful restaurants nearby to try. We enjoyed our time here exploring the private beach and playing the games provided. Angela and her family were fantastic hosts!

Great house in great location! Cabot trail access, Gypsum mine, Whale watching and Cheticamp has everything you need (grocery store, liquor store and restaurants). My teenagers loved the access to the beach and the wi-fi was great. The adults loved the quiet private deck for morning coffee and evening beverages. This house was the cherry on top of a wonderful family vacation. We have already recommended it to many family and friends.

Peaceful & Welcoming

First experience renting with Vrbo, and it was beyond our expectations. This cottage is beautiful and very well maintained. Location is perfect, very quiet area, it's close to bakery, (Aucoin) a must try, trails, stores and restaurants. Angela is an excellent host, we had enough supplies to last us for our 6 nights stay. We enjoyed our stay. Fire pit was a nice added bonus.

Lovely place to stay on the west coast of the island

Wonderful place to stay. Great location, very comfy and well appointed. We had a wonderful time spending 6 days using this as our home base while exploring all over the highlands park. Will definitely stay here again when we return to Cape Breton.return

Peaceful Stay

This was our fourth and final stay on our Nova Scotia vacation and it was lovely, so restful. The cottage was perfectly wonderful and we left with grateful hearts.

We had a wonderful time in the cottage during the cold season. Angela was extremely helpful and always available. We loved the area, the beach and the snow in the national park. Everything was perfect!

We are the Chiasson's: Amelia, Angela, Carrie, Greg and Camille. We are proudly Acadian and we are from the Cheticamp area. We purchased Sunset Lane Cottage as our home away from home, as, all 3 "children" live in different parts of the world. Amelia and Camille (mom and dad) live a hop, skip and a jump from this property. We are eager to share our cozy sunset haven with others who visit this beautiful area. Thank you for being here :).
